I want to offer some great advice, but I really struggle with this as well. Advice I've received (and didn't always implement): serve yourself half of what others are serving themselves. For really rich foods, do like the French, and give yourself three bites, apparantly enough to taste and enjoy. If eating out, request…

Hi, @cnavarro002 Anything. I will enthusiastically participate assuming you don't make it something impossible like chin-ups. :) I rather prefer the challenges where we check in daily as opposed to weekly. It just feels more connected or active somehow, but anything is fine. And I don't need it to be something new. I am…

The scale finally moved. I figured out my post-op medication is a steroid. I'm hoping that explains my stubborn scale issues, since I've been pretty much under my daily calorie allotment all along. Down -0.4 (at this point, I'll take that and be content) New group total: -63.1 (previous total -60.5 + Amy's -2.2 + my -0.4)

I'm waiting until Saturday, June 30 for my last check in this week. I'm dropping again after a couple of weeks of no change, and I'm having a perfect week so far, so if I can stay the course, I'd like to end June with another loss.

I changed out the sodium calculator for fibre instead. I can't really do much about the sodium. It's either naturally occuring in my simple basic meals of the day, or it goes way over because I'm eating prepared or restaurant foods. Hitting my daily recommended grams of fibre seems a more useful focus than counting sodium.

@bmeadows380 Now THAT was a brain dump. Holy Dinah! Can I just say what we are all thinking here: too much on your plate, hon. I don't function well when super busy and in a chaotic environment where too many things I can't control (say, quirky and needy people) are making too many demands of me. This spring, I was working…

@tammyfranks2. Wow! Look at you brave lady, ready to break free of your chains. I am sending positive energy and prayer your way, and cheering you on. There is a great energy of positive change in the air this year. It might just be the emotion from seeing the world through fresh eyes (literally), but I am on such a…

I love my Instant Pot for weekend batch cooking, which works beautifully for my busy schedule and keeps me eating healthy food at home, which works out for both my budget and my diet. What used to take me two full weekend days now takes, at most, a half day in the kitchen. Beef stew that used to take hours to simmer in…

I survived shopping for clothes on the weekend, something I've been avoiding for a little too long. I was desperate for some office wear summer-weight tops. My office is usually business formal but goes a little more business casual in the summer (i.e. I don't have to wear a blazer in the summer). Clothes shopping is…

Checking in with a zero gain/loss for the week. This is actually a win. Can I hear a woohoo? With sitting home all week in post-op rest/recovery, and under strict orders to do nothing physical that would raise my pulse or blood pressure, plus there was some furtive unauthorized snacking towards the end of the week >:) ,…

There must be something in the air. So many of us are experiencing challenges. Physically, I'm really suffering with heat-bloat and water-retention. Mentally, I'm fighting my inner brat who wants summer cocktails and munchies. Oy!

@bmeadows380. <3 I frequently struggle with the negative side of perfectionism. This sometimes leads me to feel if I can't get it all, then why bother. If I can't finish, why start. If I can't get 100% result, why try. The work I do has repetitive and predictable periods of busy times, higher stress, and that excessively…

The eye surgery yesterday was a text-book success. This morning I had my post-op exam and got a big A+. :) I am thoroughly enjoying seeing all the shades, nuances, and varieties of colour again. It nearly moved me to tears when I took off the bandages. The colour green alone is accouting for almost a 1,000 different…

What's Cookin' This Weekend? I went in for eye surgery very early this morning, and even though I will be home recuperating all week, I prepped meals and individually portioned them to both maintain that discipline and to reduce all physical activity and use of ovens to as little as possible over the next week. It's going…
