I just eat them on their own or wrapped in a slice of ham

Could you ask for no sauce and carry a bottle of Soy sauce to add yourself on the plate?

Did you earn any exercise calories? If so the calories are adjusted by the macro nutrients are not so you can go over them all whilst still hitting calorie target.

I'm in a similar boat as I am eating plenty of fruit and veg, my biggest problem is getting protein in so am trying to replace some of my snacks with higher protein options. I'm certainly not worried about eating the carbs especially as they are not processed sugars and at the end of the day it is calories that matter for…

Ah thanks don't know how I missed that although it does look greyed out so perhaps that was why

I wouldn't call it exercise either but that is the only way MFP has to log calorie burn, the extra calorie burn from being sedentary is real and it doesn't matter where it comes from it is just as significant.

I remember reading one study that showed if you took 2 groups one that reduced their calorie intake by 700 and another that ate the same but burned 700 calories by exercise. The second group lost more weight and kept it off for longer, either way you are creating a deficit but the exercise route will have additional…

So the principle of eating back your exercise calories should be ignored? Half an hour cardio would burn less than a day spent at the museum. Agree it's up to individual how they manage this but going from sedentary to an active day even if only moderately will have an impact and should be logged if nothing else.

My family all ate it as I was growing up but I hate even the smell of them, even if a bit of their vinegar ended up on my plate it was enough to make me feel sick :unamused:

I've tried using the search function before and without an advanced search option you are just swamped with noise and unable to find decent threads.
-
50 calories per hour is not enough to adjust? If I said I won't bother logging a candy bar with the same calories you would agree with that as well? Why does MFP use the example of standing for work for activity levels as well?
-
Just because they know how they should eat doesn't mean they actually do so :/ I know doctors that smoke and drink to excess.......
-
Just being on your feet for for a few hours will burn more calories than sat on the couch let alone the movement around the museum.
-
I normally eat it with carrots, celery etc so it's not too bad but as you say you have to be aware of the portion size. It's far from unhealthy and I certainly eat it even when I'm trying to eat better.
-
Their energy source may be pretty much carbs but they are for the most part water otherwise they would be far more calorific.
-
That's true but if you are looking to bulk then you will be eating excess calories in the hope of building muscle rather than fat

I love hummus but never thought of it as a health food, tried chia seeds this weekend but they are too small to really notice

Well my ex-wife is 5 foot and has a big nose, the only woman I've dated since was 5 foot 2 and had an even bigger nose so i guess my weakness is short and big nosed :/

I made some "protein bars" the other day using those ingredients and they came out ok so was thing of adding protein to my oatmeal as well.
-
My dad has Tumeric water every morning, personally I thought it was mainly flavourless and just used as a colouring
-
Yeah I keep myself to the sedentary targets but have realised that I am losing quicker than I might expect due to the fact that I'm probably burning an extra 1000 calories or so on the weekend.
-
Stick me on a bike and I could probably ride for a 30-40 miles at a half decent pace but ask me to jog for more than a couple hundred yards and I would struggle.
-
I've been wondering how to manage fluctuations as well. Mon to Fri I am sat at desk all day with an hour commute each way so am sedentary all week. Weekends I'm generally doing chores around the house and so am significantly more active without having an actual activity to log for the extra calorie burn.
-
Thanks
-
Only thing to bear in mind is that if you have 2 drinks a night that could easily be 500 calories and so an extra pound a week you could be losing just by cutting it out.
-
Ah yes I meant pant/trouser size, I've only just learned about the navel measurement so will have to try and measure that. Not sure I'm in better shape my moobs are certainly worse than you and it's not easy to judge your own body either. I remember seeing myself on CCTV when I was in the worst shape and I was shocked at…

That's an interesting photo, I'm also 5'10" but am around 210 with a waist of around 36 inches, even at my heaviest of 225 i have not had a waist of more than 40. Difficult to tell from photo but I would say I've never had a belly like that but have a fatter neck/chin than you.

4/5 portions of veg a day soon adds up to 200/300 calories so yes I log them all.
-
Glad you've posted this I was thinking 3000 calories seemed extremely high :/

Not the cheapest option available though, might have a try at making my own
