No matter how you feel you look, he looks like an *kitten* for bringing a girlfriend to his child's birthday party.

While a pain at times, a pacemaker isn't all bad. My bride has an AV node block and has had a 2 channel pacemaker for about 3-4 years now. Beats not having half her heart beating in rhythm. Looked up some details and the first pacemaker recipient outlived the inventor and the surgeon who implanted it. Funny how life works.…

I realize it's been a LONG time since I was a teen. But isn't being a teen both drama and, at least from the teen's perspective, a dark comedy? It's not always an either - or relationship

As long as it is the fault of another, such as the food industry or advertising or more commuters or genes or what the mean man said that “made” you drive to Jack in the Box, little success will be seen. Not saying these things and more are not factors. What I am saying is people can succeed in the face of challenges. No…

Or a second or third tour after the farewell tour you saw in High School. Saw The Who during their first farewell in 1982, LOL

One can set themselves up for failure in a number of ways. On the surface, saying "I will do better each day" sounds great. How do you define better? That's the tricky part. Too "squishy" and you'll never really get better. Too difficult and you may give up due to failure. Finding the middle that provides continuous…

Yep! I've been riding for years and I still have about one fall / year. This year is was I couldn't get out while avoiding a car who decided stop-signs were so overrated.... They do make pedals that have clipless on one side and flat on the other. I use SPD pedals on my road bike as I wear MB shoes due to my wide feet. I…

If you bring up a customer service interaction with a customer after work, you are indeed representing the company. This is one of those, even if you COULD do this, SHOULD you? Why ruin your time off by revisiting what was obviously a bad experience? Seems there is so much downside potential and little to no upside in this…

Actually seems to have dropped off...

I think I see your point. I would rather just make different food choices, such as subbing veggies for pasta, as I do when I hit up Crazy Bowls and Wraps. You can get a bowl with spiralized veggies instead of rice or noodles. No heroic efforts needed to blunt the pasta, either don't have it, or have less and fill it the…

Actually, 1500 is pretty close for your age, sedentary, height and weight to drop 20 pounds by this time in December. I think it has you at 1.4-1.5 pounds/week, which is pretty sustainable. You could add an hour of walking every day and probably get to the 2#/week range at that metric for calorie consumption.

Depends on where the calories are sourced. I'm not saying Keto here, but bear with me. If I measure my salad dressing, instead of just drowning my food in it, I can get the same taste without consuming calories with little added nutritional value. I can choose foods that use naturally occurring sugars instead of adding…

My typical breakfast is a two-egg omelette. Two slices of center cut bacon. I use the fat from the bacon to sautee a mix of peppers and onions. I might add mushrooms if I have them. I weigh out about 28g of cheese. If I have a banana, that breakfast is about 430 calories, or just over 20% of my daily allowance. It is 36g…

A better photo. All pumped up after 45 minutes of spin this AM.

Not much different

I'd have to bite my tongue and suppress the retort that it would be better to be a fat *kitten* than a dumb *kitten*. By not being a dumb *kitten*, I know better than to make fun of others. But I made many trips to the principals office years ago when I was in school and you could still get a spanking for being a smart…

I have been carrying one for the past 2-3 years. Pink no less, because I am a secure man. I'm also colorblind, so it doesn't really matter to me.
-
I don't. I don't get so close to my calorie limits that a banana is going to put me over the edge. I do round up other calorie dense foods. I.E. if I get 25g of cheese on the scale, I'll log it as a 28g serving per the package. Ditto with meats, sauces and dressings. I even weigh meats with the bone, to give margin. I.E.…

Eat to adjust your weight. Exercise to adjust your flexibility, fitness, and strength.

OK, assuming what you assert is true, and my point really comes out of no-where, does it matter? Or, did you ask the clarifying question, how does your point relate to the conversation? You see, you assumed that my point came out of no-where. In no way did I see you consider the possibility that you simply didn't…
-
Did I say that? If you read that into what I said, then your biases are impeding your ability to read the actual words and think critically. I clearly said that some people are not welcome in conversations for superficial reasons. I also clearly said that someone who has never been a victim cannot speak to the victim…
-
So your form of marginalization is to claim I'm derailing the conversation? You are free to rebut or ignore what I have to say. But I don't think you get to be the arbiter of where and what I speak or write. You are engaged in exactly what you suggest is wrong, marginalizing people in conversations. We are not talking past…

But there are those who do not welcome such participation. I recall a recent incident at the University of Missouri where a White Male Student Journalist was asked to leave an event by a faculty member because she felt it was not appropriate for the White (Asian, IIRC) male journalist to cover an event or protest of racist…
-
I would add that just because white hetero males have done this does not disqualify that class of people from speaking on topics. That makes about as much sense as saying because someone is a women, they shouldn't vote, or have a career, or... To say that someone is not welcome in a discussion because they come from a…
-
So is that the metric, if you haven't been harassed or received unwanted attention, you are not allowed to speak on it? Is there a threshold when one is authorized to speak? If that is the case, then how do those who have been falsely accused enter the conversation? In my time in the Army, I had soldiers who, during…

Bumping this up so I can take a photo 5 months and 20-25 pounds lost later. Not to mention a summer of more cycling, hiking, etc. Above is the photo from back in May. I'll take a new one later today or tomorrow....

I remind my kids that I have underwear and gloves older than they are.

Heck, there must have been days when I was in my 40s where I looked old, as I would get the Sr discount back then...

Oh, and my food diary is open. I just logged the two hard boiled eggs I had as an afternoon snack. Headed to the gym soon as Thursday is my two-a-day cycle class day....

This might make you sad for a moment, but stick with me. I can ride my bicycle 40+ miles, eat in a caloric deficit and weight MORE the next day. Why? My body is hanging on to water to repair any muscles needing repair after that effort. I think I gained 4 pounds over labor day weekend after getting in 85.5 miles worth of…
