Since I'm not at goal yet, I purchased this to keep my wedding ring from twisting and sliding off. It works great and after the first few minutes, I don't feel it on my finger. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B073FDFLSF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Bumping this post for the newbies who are looking for the answer to weight loss.

Growing up food was how my mom showed love. I was a sickly child from birth until first grade, then I ballooned into a porky kid. Food was my comfort through the rough years of being picked on. When I was in college, I had lost weight but food was still my comfort. I'm now 59 and I've lost some of the excess weight and…

I'm also on a 1200 calorie eating plan and that was set by my dietician. I've met with her for the past 3 months and she reviews my food logs to make sure the calories I'm ingesting are mostly from veggies and lean meats. There are some days I'm really hungry but most days I'm content with the amount I'm eating. I don't go…

I agree. Your transformation is inspiring . Thanks for sharing your secret of cutting out sugar and limiting portion size and calories.

I have heard that it is very common that bariatric surgery patients have a total change in their palate and which foods they can tolerate. Do you know if this is a permanent change or you will with time be able to eat the foods you used to enjoy?

I don't have experience with Medi Weight, but I am visiting a weight loss center that does bariatric surgery. I want to avoid the surgery. My nutritionist has me on a 1200 calorie a day plan and exercising at least 30 minutes a day 4 times a week. I've been lucky and dropped 60 lbs so far so I didn't need to tweak what %…

I have more than 100 lbs to lose. I'm going through the steps to be approved for bariatric surgery but am very motivated to lose weight through counting calories and exercise so that I can avoid the surgery. I would love to have buddies to keep me accountable.

fit4sho24, it sounds like you are on the right track. You should see weight loss. I'm guessing you don't weigh yourself at home. Can you tell if your clothes are loser? Are you feeling like you can move better? Do you have more energy? One thing that has helped me a lot is that I have never had a sweet tooth. I know from…

I know I don't want surgery until March or later because of my work schedule. That is assuming my insurance will approve me. However if I keep losing I will keep moving the date back. I've done well with the reduced calorie diet. I've lost 41 lbs so far and I started 8 weeks ago. That's a lot in that short of time and I'm…

fit4sho42, glad your psych eval went well. I'm also glad you didn't have to do the questionnaire. I forgot that I was also asked about worst case and best case scenarios after surgery. When I mentioned that a best case scenario would be getting totally off my BP and arthritis meds, the psychologist chuckled, and added,…

The psych eval wasn't bad at all. There were a lot of questions about my history. Any physical or verbal abuse as a child? What does my family think about the surgery? The last time I drank alcohol, the last time I used drugs, etc. How old was I when I started having issues with my weight? What have I done to try to…

I found some websites that helped me understand what to expect for the psych eval. They were: http://www.mybariatriclife.org/bariatric-psych-evaluation/ and http://www.obesityhelp.com/articles/the-truth-about-the-psychological-evaluation-for-wls Finally this article from Clinical Endocrinology News states "Psychological…

Congrats on getting this far in the process. All of our insurance requirements are different. I need to see the dietician 3 months in a row and on my first visit all she told me was to eat 1200 calories a day and I can't subtract my exercise calories from my food. She gave me suggested food items and how many calories are…

I'm on the pre pre-surgery diet of 1200 calories per day. I won't have the surgery until March or later and won't see my doc & dietician again for several months. The one thing the dietician didn't tell me was what % of nutrients I should be aiming for. MFP has it automatically set up for 50% = carbs, 30% = Fat and 20% =…

Weight rarely consistently goes down. As long as you are seeing a downward trend and following your doctor's instructions for eating, don't fret this weight gain. I'm pre-surgery and eating less than 1200 calories a day. My weight fluctuates a lot from day to day but the weekly trend is always less than the week before.…

I appreciate the honesty of this thread. I'm just starting my journey and don't have a surgery date yet. I've been overweight since the age of 6 and have tried numerous diets and exercises, but the weight loss never lasted. I'm now 59, morbidly obese and in a lot of joint and back pain. I finally realized that getting the…

Thanks for the inspiration. I'm not diabetic but I am morbidly obese. I've tried many, many diets and always lose some weight but then the diet stops (or I stop following the plan) and the weight comes back but it brings friends. This time I'm charting my calories and so far I'm down 24 lbs. I have a long "weigh" to go but…
