My boxer loves walking and will go forever. Unless it's too hot. Or too cold. Or wet. Or actively precipitating. Or too early in the morning. So he loves to walk if it is 60-70*, sunny, and between the hours of 9am and 9pm. Then he will go forever. Otherwise he'll flop himself down in the middle of the road a quarter mile…

I'm 5'5 and started at 180 9 months ago. Was 169 in April when I joined MFP and now sitting around 156. Goal is 145 or so. I eat 1600-1900 a day (my current target is 1790+workout calories, but I tend to not eat back more a quarter or half). I've lost very steadily at a rate of just once a pound a week these last 10 weeks…

Ahhhhhhh.... I love the uber supportive community here at MFP  Yes, the link to the toasted ravioli was correct. Yes, it is delicious. I only discovered it about 2 years ago and it's one son's favorite. He opted for it instead of being taken out for dinner. We serve with warmed pizza sauce for dipping. And it's…

What does DB stand for? And thanks for the good answers! I appreciate it. Edited: I'm assuming double breaded

Ahhhh... much better once we got on site. First time I've ever had a race start not first thing (noon start time) and that gave my brain waaaaay too much time to think about it. It was tons of fun, and the 5k was very accessible to any fitness level. I'm in good shape, found it easy. My hubs isn't in good shape, and did…

What is this blessed smoky garlic mustard and where can I get it?!

I think it really depends and 15lbs can affect you differently at different weights. I started out with 30-35 to lose. My first 10, I'm the only one to really notice. My next 5, started seeing underlying muscle tone and clothes fitting better. Next 8 is when it has suddenly dropped off my face and all of me is noticeably…

Me! I ran avidly from 15-18 and 20-30. I loved it. Then life, kids, and a minor back injury got me off the train and I couldn't run without hurting nny back. I lost about 3 years of fitness (hello, MFP) and when I finally started back a year ago I had no real interest in running. I didn't even own a pair of decent shoes. I…

[quote="kommodevaran;c-42051800" I'm happy to think about this as investments, not sacrifice, which I used to believe was necessary in order to achieve and maintain a healthy weight - I feel that I'm getting ten times back, at least.[/quote] Awesome perspective.

So there is a lot of truth here, and this works great for some people. For me, it led to me gaining significantly without realizing. I've actually found a lot of freedom in weighing daily because it's helping me see trends and learn my own fluctuations. It makes it much less stressful to step on the scale and see an "off"…

My kitchen can't handle another gadget. All of my ice cream budget goes directly to finished product. But i just bottled another batch of kombucha and I'm trying a couple bottles with kiwi!

This is the kind of stuff I love to hear - what's helping you that's unique to your situation and needs. My dog is hugely motivated to get me my steps... as long as it is 50-75* outside with no precipitation. Otherwise he's very happy in our climate controlled house.

I've been making kombucha too and need to get another set of brewing bottles so I can make 2 weeks at a time. But I have to ask... are your investments in ice cream for making it or just consuming it? ;) just had to know...

Oh - my Garmin has been a huge asset. Well worth the investment.

That can be true. But there are some financial investments that make it way easier to lose. That's why I'm curious what other people find worthwhile.

I think a lot depends on your exertion. I do Zumba and my HR barely cracks 120 (I'm also incredibly bad at it... that doesn't help me!) But i can sustain 140-170 in a spin class the same length. Per my Garmin with HR monitor, I burn about 200 calories at Zumba but 5-600 at spin for an hour.

I'd love to vacuum often. But I'm too busy going to the gym and workout out. Oh.. and actually getting skinny.

Similar here. I'm careful to take an active rest day on Thursdays where I do a light yoga class and walk, and Mondays I do a light yoga class and run with a slower friend. If i need Monday to be a rest day, we just go her pace. If i need it to be heavier, i throw on ankle weights to run with her. My other days I do a…

Thanks guys! On our way, and I've got 1500 calories left in today's bank :) (thank you, body pump and run). I'm going to go, enjoy, and hopefully go for a nice run tomorrow too.

Is there a way to log "blank" calories? I'm still fairly new to MFP and my previous food tracker wouldn't let me enter calories without their macros.

I used to be a weekly weigher as well - seemed healthier, less obsessive, than daily. Then I realized how frustrating and discouraged I would get when three scale didn't cooperate that day. I put 7 days of hope into it, and the "hooray" moments went 50/50 with the "wth?" ones. I weighed in 2-3x a week after that for the…

For me personally, i go to fitness classes at my gym. They're taught by certified teachers who are knowledgeable in their areas. Missy importantly, when i have questions - they answer! They also push me in classes to do the next set and to gave the next move pre planned - i don't waste time or mental energy on coming up…

At your suggestions, i grabbed purple cow moose frozen yogurt... 1/3C is 90 calories - ummmmm, delicious! I also have raspberry sherbet i haven't tried yet. And outshine popsicles range 35-70 depending on the size and flavor. What's funny is that knowing I CAN have these things and knowing they're physically in my house...…

It is fun to hear other people making it. My first batch has been mediocre - I have a lot to play around with to get an end product i really like. Thanks for your input!

The fermentation process eats at least some of the sugar, so theoretically kombucha isn't just a sum of it's parts. It isn't a big deal, but i was curious if others had tried it.

enjoy it!
