Successfully dropping logging
My first post over here on the maintenance forum!!! Who has successfully cut back on/ stopped logging? I've been in my maintenance range several months and I'm working hard on eating a really solid whole food diet and cooking a ton... but honestly, it makes logging new recipes etc exhausting and takes a lot of the…

A nutrition question and a training question (running)
Hey folks, I'm looking at doing a heavier race schedule over the next 6-ish months than I've ever done, and I'm looking for whether you have good resources for nutrition athe race stacking. Tentative races - *half marathon early June. (Goal: kill my PR) * sprint or Olympic tri early September (Goal: fun completion with…

Dinner question
Hey, for experienced loggers (and home cooks) - I'm struggling with logging my dinners. I cook for a family of 7. We do a lot of soup or casserole style dishes (where everything is blended as opposed to 1 piece of chicken, 1 serving of rice, 1 serving of veggies). Because I cook for such a large amount, I cook to have…

How did you pick your goal weight?
I'm curious how you picked your goal. I've seen women of my height here with a wide variety of goals for their weight so it made me curious how others chose. Mine was simple - I looked at a BMI chart, saw where i went from "overweight" to "within normal" and picked a few pounds below that threshold. I figure once i get…

Streamlining logging
I started a second part time job about 5 weeks ago, andI'm having trouble keeping up with mylogging. What tips do you have to keep it easy (or efficient)? Pre loggers, what worksfor you? How much and how far out doyou log?

Whoooooosh (and hooooray!)
I hit 30lbs this morning! It's been 1 year of effort (but 20lbs since April, when I joined MFP) with some ups and downs, but I'M HERE. My BMI is normal for the first time in maybe 9 or 10 years? I weigh the least I have in a very long time. I still have maybe 8lbs to go, but hitting that 30 mark is an incredible feeling. I…

What investments have you made to lose?
I'm curious what kind of investments you've made in yourself, and continue to make, to lose weight and maintain your health. Those could be financial, or others. My biggest investment is time. I'm working out a TON these days. I'm blessed to be in a season of life to have the time, and I really enjoy it. The biggest price…

Running and cross training (schedule question)
Hey all, I'm a former runner of 10 years with about a dozen halfs and a full under my belt. About 3 years ago I suffered a minor back injury, that combined with a ton of life stress knocked me off all fitness for almost 2 years. I slowly started coming back last summer with walking and yoga, then adding strength, them…

A bust and a win
I've been watching my eating patterns lately trying to figure out if there are still times I eat out of boredom or habit instead of hunger/need. I usually eat something small when I get up, and then have 200ish calories late morning, after I worked out. Bust: tried to skip the past workout snack today because I was eating…

Do you eat your vegetables?
I'm curious how good you are at getting your veggies in every day. Before I joined MFP, one of my strategies for losing weight was to eat a veggie with every meal. It was mildly effective and I got so. Many. Veggies. Now that I'm logging, I find myself going for protein goals, which leaves me so full I'm almost never…

Understanding "activity" calorie adjustment
I've done a moderate amount of reading about how MFP integrates your steps throughout the day to help track extra calories you can add in based on your activity. If I understand correctly, it's at least a little anticipatory - "if you keep up this level of activity throughout the day, you'll earn xxx calories". So the…

How big is a single scoop at an ice cream place?
I'm trying to figure out how much ice cream is actually in a "single scoop" waffle cone at a place like Baskin Robbins. On their website I only see "small 2oz" and "large 4oz". Any suggestions? This was a little mom and pop place with no listed nutritional info or serving sizes. The ice cream was delicious though!

Help me refuel
I've gotten off sync with my workout and rest days and wound up doing about 1000cal of workout today (boot camp things morning, run after work; yes, it's a fairly legit number). I have less intense workouts the rest of this week and I'm trying to get myself back on my normal schedule so prefer not to skip... so I know I…

Calories with frying?
I'm making my son's birthday dinner tomorrow and he wants fried ravioli. This is a Pioneer Woman recipe (hello calories!) that involves double breading ravioli and pan frying it in oil. The calories are not just a sum total of the ingredients. With the egg bath and coating, and the frying oil, not everything is absorbed…

Pre race jitters
I'm on my way to my first obstacle course race (Tough Mudder 5k) and all of the sudden I'm in full blown race morning panic. I haven't done any races in over 4 years... I forgot this adrenaline dumping! It's also a whopping 57* here... these could be some COLD water obstacles.

What's your favorite condiment?
Good condiments make a huge difference to me in good flavor... which means that they make a huge difference in my ability to eat healthy foods day after day after day. And some are major calorie busters, but a lot aren't too bad. Here are my favorites, all under 50cal/serving. Salsa Pesto Bruschetta Honey (1tsp) Mustard -…

What to log when you don't know?
I'm going to dinner with my husband tomorrow. It's going to bee a nice date, with a dinner theatre show. Food is buffet style and not a chain restraunt, so I don't have a solid way to gauge or preplan what I'm eating. I'm not worried about the calories themselves - this is a special occasion etc etc... but i don't want a…

Sweet treats?
I did a small search and didn't see a thread already (although I'm sure they're there), so what's your favorite fix for the need-something -sweet- but doesn't break the calorie bank? I like to end my day with something small and sweet, preferably under 100 calories. I currently alternate around a few m&ms, jelly beans, or…

Calculating (homemade) kombucha calories?
Has anyone brewed kombucha and calculated the calories for it? I'm just curious how you did it since home fermentation is still very new and overwhelming to me.

Garmin and MFP over shooting calories?
I'm new to MFP and I'm trying to figure out my calories. When I registered with MFP, I put my basic activity at moderately active. I work out 6-8 hours a week with a combo of cardio, weights, and yoga. My job has me on my feet a lot on days I work and can be physically demanding. The days I don't work I'm more sedentary…
