Thank you so much for your insightful replies! I get excited when I discover another nugget of wisdom on the art of maintenance using technology.

Great plan Zephaniah! One day at a time! Some days will be challenging and some days will be a walk in the park. On days when hunger is not extreme I bank a few exercise calories (I walk for exercise and couple of days a week I challenge my muscles a bit with resistance exercises, push ups/squats type of thing) for special…

This^. I have reached maintenance at the end of last year. Since raising my calories (mind you I was eating at a very moderate deficit while losing fat) my body (hormones?) don't know what satiety is. Most days I am white-knuckling hunger. I am constantly trying to find most-satiating foods/combinations. I do get reprieve…

Happy Birthday ExistingFish!

Thank you for sharing your experience. I will tread carefully in this new zone of smaller deficit. It's interesting that you mention emotional eating as well as being up at night. I haven't been sleeping well for the last couple of weeks and my desire to eat emotionally has increased. Hmmm....Lots to learn! Thank you…

It looks like your body has reached equilibrium. Your journey is encouraging! A question for you. When you entered maintenance, did your appetite ramp up when you increased calories? This is my second week of maintenance and I am ravenous every. single. day. I was hoping to eat at a slight deficit on weekdays to splurge a…

Thank you for your detailed response! I like your relaxed non-hurried approach to fat loss. You get to practice the art of maintenance before your next phase. I am sure your body's hormones are quite happy! I need to get to know my Fitbit to figure out my TDEE. My activity is step based as well with some occasional…

Thank you for your support and counsel! How long did it take you to figure out maintenance calories? Is your Fitbit pretty close at estimating your TDEE? I am thankful that I am finally at a place where I can experiment, track, observe and adjust accordingly.

PAV, thank you for your sage advice! I like your sense of humor!👌 A family member of mine is an expert at baking baklava and all things buttery-flaky philo dough. Trust me, I know how much self-control has to be executed around those delicious calorie-bombs! 😆 I haven't done any calorie banking until this week. Do you…

Love it! I am pretty excited about this "banking" concept. 😊

Thank you Stephanie for your thorough answer to my question!

Thanks you! For the most part my fat loss was non-linear without MFP logging. I started wearing a Fitbit in December. Since then my weekly calories have been anywhere between 1450-2000. My weight has been bouncing up and down +/- 5 lbs. Last week I decided that I am happy with my weight and that I want some hard data to…

Ann, thank you so much for chiming in! I just recently started participating in this forum. I've read many posts by you. I highly esteem your opinion! I just recently entered maintenance. I don't have enough data yet. Looking forward to figuring out my TDEE based on my own experience. Right now I don't know where to start.…

This is super helpful! 👏

Thank you for your helpful reply nutmegoreo! I haven't done any manual logging with my Zip...I have been using it to mainly track my steps and to see how many calories I burn. When you say it's 200 under per day, do you mean it underestimates by 200 calories per day from tracking steps or overall? Also, where do you wear…

Thank you for your feedback! I like my Zip as well...too bad it's not waterproof.

👌!

Thank you for your input! 👌

A question. Those who use HR models of Fitbit, do you find calories burned more accurate to CICO than non-HR. Is there an advantage to using a HR model other than keeping track of sleep cycles and keeping track of HR for intense workouts? In the near future I would like to upgrade my Zip and have been looking at the new…

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

This. The reason why I had a weekly goal is because I liked that I could plan my week out in advance as well. I think your advice to sync the Fitbit on higher days would be a perfect solution! Brilliant! I will test this out and see how it goes.
-
That's a great idea! May I ask you one more question. Do you find it's easier just to use TDEE rather than MFP's base calories+exercise calories? The reason why I'm asking is because my steps vary anywhere from 10,000 to 15000 a day. I mostly do walking for exercise with occasional resistance exercises here and there,…

Wow! Thank you for such a thorough response! I am still a novice @ maintaining fat loss using this app. I don't have a consistent data on my TDEE. This past week I synched my Fitbit with MFP, I will keep an eye on the trend. I think for now I will do calorie cycling with MFP's Net calories and will look into Google Keep…
-
Thank you for sharing your outcome! I lost most of my weight without this app. I started using in maintenance. It's been a very useful tool!
-
I am pretty new to calorie cycling. A couple of questions for you. When you cycle your calories, do you run a deficit from Net calories? Will you use a spreadsheet for a bi-weekly/monthly calorie "bank" or MFP offers this option and I'm not seeing it.

Ditto.
-
A question for you- when you swim, how does it track your activity? Do you manually have to enter that you are swimming or does the device detects it without you doing anything?
-
That's very helpful. Thank you!

So, so thankful to all of you! What a great community!
