Whoops that was meant for someone else lol. But still, yes.

Yes (hehe ❤️ you, girl!)

When I really want something but I know it doesn’t fit into my calories for the day, I ask myself these questions: 1) Have I had it before? Do I already know what it tastes like? 2) Will I have the opportunity to eat this some time in the future? 3) Do I really need this or do I just really want this? I can talk myself out…

I’m very sorry for your loss, Samantha.

My BMI is officially “normal”, as of today. Started out “obese” in March of this year at 32.3, I’m now at 25 🎉

Lol I feel ya with the whole chip serving thing!! Before using a food scale, I would count out the chips and end up piecing together what I thought was a fair chip size with the broken ones...I’m certain I was fooling myself and my little pile of broken chips that were supposed to equal one probably added up to more than…

I can’t find the October thread :-/

Congratulations on finding something that works for you! I would still argue that most people (myself included) need a food scale to stay honest with themselves. Also, “clean eating” would be difficult for me as I think I would end up feeling too restricted and end up binging. I like to know that I can eat absolutely…

Indeed, my scale has a pretty low weight limit. You should see the ridiculous messes I’ve made weighing things out in small bowls. Absolute chaos 😂
-
I purchased too small of a scale to be able to put my plate on it. I go through the hassle of using various small cups - zero out the cup, put the ingredient I’m measuring into the cup, put it on my plate - repeat for all ingredients. Maybe it would be worth investing in a large scale that would accommodate the quicker…

Haha no worries!! I know quiksylver is a popular gal, I expect people to hop on this thread to chat with her ☺️

Lol yup my mom’s going to think I’m crazy. I already get all kinds of judgement for how much I use my food scale (my boyfriends father rolls his eyes at me while I carefully weigh out the mayo that’s going on my burger, for example). I know I have a much better idea of portion sizes now that I’ve been using a food scale,…

Thanks! Hope the info can help some people the way it’s helped me!

I will add that if I ate out a lot, I would definitely bring my food scale with me.

If I’m eating out (which tends to be a rarity these days), I don’t bother with the food scale. In those cases, I just overestimate the calories I’m eating as much as my imagination can stretch. I’m flying home to see my family in December and I most definitely plan on bringing my food scale then, though!

I’ve always sucked at jogging. I started the C25K program and finished it two days ago! That’s eight weeks of jogging 3 times a week. My last training session felt easy 🙌

Sounds fun! What’s the app?

My boyfriend’s dad has a friend that is a fitness/weight loss coach and he tried to push me into seeing her when I first started this journey, but I really wanted to accomplish this on my own and make it a self-taught learning experience (plus, I didn’t want to have to pay her lol). I politely declined meeting with her…

No worries!! ☺️

Ok I reposted it! It’s in General health, fitness, and diet. Titled “How I stopped kidding myself” 😂

I haven’t yet but I’ll post here when I do! Just short on time lately. I’ll get it up tomorrow :)

Daw, thanks! Where do you think it would be most helpful for me to repost this? General health? Just another one in Getting started maybe?

Are you using a food scale? The closer you get to goal weight, the more precise you need to be about how many calories you’re consuming.

I try to take advice to heart when something I’m doing isn’t working. Isn’t it nice to also have a little peace of mind that you have a true idea of how much you’re consuming? I find that I doubt my efforts much less because I know I’m not unintentionally cheating myself out of reaching my goals. When the scale doesn’t…
