  • I love my scale when it tells me I'm doing great. Otherwise, it's broken.
  • In my case, it was a devastating thing. There aren't any good comparisons because we're talking food energy (calories) and exercise. Maybe a smoker who jogs in order to award his sorry self with a cigarette? Everyone is different. Everyone. I'd feel foolish saying what's right for me is right for anyone. But, eat healthy,…

  • Struggling to lose or struggling to win? I'd rather have the struggle of dieting than the struggle of being fat.

  • Wake up earlier?
  • A clean pair of briefs and steel-toed sneakers is all I use, but whatevah. A good tailor can make anyone look good, too. Maybe that's a whole new income stream for them: tailored gym clothes.
  • The seven pound mark was taken from the Thanksgiving holiday's last day-Sunday night. I weighed in at 165; five pounds over my goal weight. Not good. I was physically active the following week, beyond the exercising. Ideally, a 4-5 pound loss is more accurate. This whole sitting behind a desk is brand spanking new to human…
  • Maybe twice a month. Cooking ones right now--bacon is bakin'--with mushrooms, three eggs, sprinkle of cheese and olives. Thanksgiving ham bits, too. 4 slices of bacon. Not more than 700 calories, of which 750 will be burned off on a bike ride today.

  • Nutritious food instead of empty calories, yes. It's tricky in our junk food society and when one is a good cook..... I lost 7 pounds this week by not logging my exercise deficits; back to my goal of 160. I used those deficits as an excuse to eat more. Concentrated on my goal of 2100 calories of nutritious food. Note it: I…

  • I stopped logging my exercise calorie credit/debit and now I just see my Maintenance goal. Any Exercise credit is now put into a secret Swiss FAT account for that day---sometime this week, probably---when I eat too much.
  • Your husband slipped calories into your drink. What a joker! (I weighed 5lbs over my target last night. Freaked out, yeah. This morning it was an acceptable 2lbs.)
  • Ageists! As an old person, I'm hurt by your hateful comments about wrinkles. Every wrinkle, every scar is a badge of honor. Give me a woman with age over a young Italian supermodel sunbathing in her Turin villa any day. Besides, that hollowed-out-heroin-user look is all the rage. Get hip hipster clothes and go with it!
  • What happens if I eat 900 calories a day? Breakfast. Damn near, anyways.

  • Winter is rough. I enjoy 6+ hours a week of bike riding, but no way at 32f. I'm trying to learn how to really diet, instead of burning off the excess. Maybe I'll move to a warmer climate....naaaaah :)
  • That. The calories burned are from the bouncing on the balls of your feet, not the wrist action. Hey, is everyone single? My wife read over my shoulder and started laughing at us and is pulling me away...lol
  • The trap I fell into is my "Exercise For Tasties". I was calculating how active I had to be to allow myself to overeat. On the surface, it seems like a good thing, right? Except I'm not active all the time. Some days, 2000 calories are more than adequate (like today), but I'm totally capable of eating home-cooked…
  • Sunny, but cold here. I'll clean the gutters, stare at fallen leaves, and stay on the 2100 calorie mark without using my over-exercising-for-treats. Ham, potatoes, veggies are adequate. This holiday isn't a family tradition here; hasn't been since 2001 because of the travel delays. We do the summer vacation for family…
  • Murder your television.
  • Quick backstory: I've been dealing with arthritis in my feet for 40 years and my wrists/thumbs for ten. The latter may be associated with a lifetime on motorcycles, I don't know...lol. On top of all that, I've been a gym member for 45 years with all the little injuries that offers. Also, I'm in construction for 40 years…
  • Therapy? Who would do that? A Glutton-ologist? My best bet is to really modify my diet. I wasn't out-of-control for that long and never totally out of shape.
