These are my feelings precisely. I do lift and I'm firmly in the camp that thinks that resistance training of some form is very important. However, I also do (and enjoy gaspshockhorror) quite a lot of cardio because I happen to think my heart is my most important muscle. Why would I work my other muscles and ignore my…

Just a point of clarification, are you saying that you're trying to find a way to not crave carbs in the morning or that you are getting food cravings and you feel they are triggered by the carbs you eat in the morning? Obviously, the macro content of your breakfast will not affect your rate of loss as long as you're in a…

^ this. I used to prelog several days in advance so I had time to tweak the foods I was eating to meet my macro goals. Now I prelog as much as a week in advance just because it makes my daily routine smoother and easier to stick to. You can always adjust a prelogged meal if you decide to add or change something, but at…

Yes. If you're hungry, feed yourself. Just make sure you're genuinely hungry, not bored/thirsty/angry/happy/drunk. It takes some time to figure out what satisfies you, everyone is different. Try out different macros and find the one(s) that make you feel fuller for longer. Many people find protein, fats, and fiber more…

It's easy enough to count calories most of the time. Sometimes I do get a little tired of logging but taking a few days or even a week "off" really does the trick. I still eat reasonable portions, and I try to continue to fuel myself with the foods my body needs and has come to crave, but I take a few days to not plan, not…

Like any other eating method, it's only effective if you remain in a calorie deficit. If you IF without reaching a weekly deficit, you will not lose weight. It doesn't matter which path you choose to get there, energy intake must be less than output consistently in order to be effective.

You need to understand that undereating will lead to a lot of medical issues that are just as (if not more) serious than the medical issues brought on by being overweight. Malnutrition for one, but that's the obvious one. I have a friend who has lost over 100 pounds in the last four months for the same reason you present:…

I think everyone has been there. Most of the time, it's my diet that is leading to my sluggishness. I generally lean back on the discipline I've been building and slog through even though I have no motivation. It always gets better with a little time. Hope you feel better soon.

The thread wasn't closed because of the type of food you choose to eat. And I think you're well aware of that. Good luck with those strongly worded letters of complaint.

Meh. I've been a member at both PF and a privately owned gym and to be completely frank, the only differences I see are PF has worse decor, and far more equipment. The same type of equipment and people are in both types of gyms in my area. PF is cheaper, open 24/7, and has a spa area for tanning and massage. Nothing…

I think you already know the answer to your question. If you're going to eat your full days worth of calories in one meal, then it's either got to be your only meal, or you have to find ways to lighten your recipes, portions, or both. One does not have to completely and radically change their world to lose weight, but…

^^^ This. ^^^ VVV NOT this. VVV While weight loss is not linear, and what may work for one person will not work for another with regards to creating a calorie deficit, essentially weight loss is no different for one person than for another, it's an equation: Calories in < calories out = weight loss OR Calories in >…

Another vote for stepping on the scale. A few reasons: * Being honest with yourself is crucial to your success on every level. Lie to yourself at the start and it will be much easier to continue to lie as you go along. In my humble experience. * If you don't have your accurate weight, then you can never calculate your…

There's no "on average". Calories burned depend on your heart rate while exercising, how long you exercise, and your weight among other factors. Investing in a fitbit or other fitness band will certainly help you determine your calories burned. Honestly, if you genuinely want a solid answer to how many calories you are…

I think you need to take a breath. You're trippin. This takes time, and you aren't going to magically see some miraculous new body because you dropped four pounds. Forgive yourself for the binge and move forward. You're definitely going to have to get some realistic expectations though, because if you lose a couple of…

I'm with the sweets-eaters. If I can hold off till the nexy day, I can plan so that I can have a nice treat that will leave me super satisfied. If not I keep several of the 100 calorie candy bars in my snack drawer. I usually keep them out of sight out of mind, but if a viscous sugar pang hits, I can savor one slowly and…

Welcome. Fond of juice are you? Well, just remember, whether you choose to chew your calories or drink them, you still only get the same number to consume each day and how you choose to get them really makes no difference in the long run. Stick to your calorie goal and you'll find success here. Good luck.

Cottage cheese. It's versatile, has a low and no-fat option, and it's a powerful protein punch.

Chicken, Black Bean, and Sweet Potato Stew Cook and shred 400g of chicken breast Peel and dice 500-600g of sweet potatoes Roughly chop 120g of red onion Cook (or drain and rinse a can) 120g black beans Open a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes Pour 4 cups of chicken broth or stock into a dutch oven, add in all of the…

This is the bottom line. Eat them back, but make sure you know what they really are first. For me, MFP is ridiculously off most of the time. If you eat back an inflated burn, you can easily destroy a day's deficit.

Realistically, it's extremely hard to lose at the rate you describe when you are that close to your goal. It's more likely that a healthy and sustainable loss would take you several more months. Why the deadline?
-
I used to be the same exact way. The end goal seemed so daunting, even breaking it down into "I can lose 10 pounds ten times" seemed daunting, because ten times is such a huge task. Do you know how long that takes? I'll never reach the end! And then one day I realized that there IS no end. There's no finish line where…

I'm not 68. I'm not considering surgery as a weight loss aid. With those disclaimers out of the way, I assume you've consulted your physician regarding methods of losing weight. Have you tried just eating fewer calories than you expend? I know, it sounds simple, but there it is. It's a mathematical equation. Set the goal >…

I would advise cooking like normal. You can freeze and reheat most meals just fine. Basically, you will cut your cooking in half and not have to do much work at all to adjust. Having said that, there are a lot of mug cake recipes on pinterest. I find these helpful when I want a treat but know I can't be trusted with a…

Good for you OP! I completely understand that moment when it clicks inside of you, and you're just done. I had a similar epiphany myself this past spring. My rules of engagement: 1. I refuse to put a time limit on my health. I'm not setting ANY deadline for my goal, because this isn't an "event", it's for the rest of my…

If you're really within your calorie limit, then it doesn't matter what form the calories take. Think of your calories as currency - spend them how you wish, just don't over spend.

I'm also a mother with one child at home. Spending time cooking for the future is not my ideal hobby, but I force myself to set aside an hour or so one Saturday a month. I cook a meal in the crock pot, one in the oven, one on the stove and then portion them out into freezer bags. I rotate these frozen meals with fresh…
