No, we basically strayed back and forth between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We did spend a day out at Cade's Cove and an evening at Sugarland's Shine taste testing the newest flavors  Yes! One of our returning students (hopefully to Slytherin) is a dear, dear friend of mine! The other is also a blast from my past,…

Just back from vacation (Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge), where I did a lot of fun stuff and ate a TON of delicious food. No doubt in my mind I'll have a pound or two gain once the water weight drops, but it was worth it! Tomorrow is back to the norm, shed those couple of pounds and get ready for the next term :)

I think it's probably dependent on the subject. A person with 100lbs to lose will naturally take longer than someone with 20lbs to lose. It's got to be absolutely exhausting to continue cutting for a lengthy period. While I do absolutely agree that it's a formula, there are human factors that math doesn't consider. For…

Just to share a smile: I was just walking down the hall and a coworker that I rarely see stepped out of an office and did a double-take and said "Wow you've lost a lot of weight, you look great! I had to double-check and make sure it was you" I still have a long way to go, but my heart is happy <3

@bradkcrew I'm the same, it's not about indulging for the day, I've been known to continue indulging once I start, often for the same reason @brandi_84 mentions: waste not, want not. The smaller portion thing makes a lot of sense. We had a birthday celebration not long ago and I indulged way more than I intended and I was…

Think I've made up my mind about the holiday term. I've always struggled with the holidays and I don't expect this year to be very different. The main difference will be my commitment to an overall low sodium diet. While I've discovered that insisting on low sodium very often precludes over-eating (simply because you have…

Completed :) ICY to stay active while we wait for the new term to start! Your choice: a ten-minute walk, or 90 seconds of planks

*snip* < we'll just delete what I wrote in an effort to practice what I preach. I'll rephrase. It's okay to say "I'm having an issue I'm trying to resolve. Does anyone else have the same problem? Can we be friends and support each other? I need a daily boost to my resolve". It's okay to use WHATEVER tool you can find to…

There's not a lot you can do about the cravings. I give myself permission to indulge a bit when the cravings are harsh, and sometimes can even bank some calories in advance to cover it. Bloating is irritating, and I'm open to hearing ANY ideas to combat it, I've yet to successfully do so. Meanwhile, if your cramps are bad,…

This is the best advice! It works for things other than drinking too. If you get invited out at the last minute, you can always accept and adjust your meal to make it a maintenance day. Sometimes we don't move forward, but that doesn't mean that we have to move backward. The trick for me was to control the number of…

I've had a good day today, really a good week with regard to my food choices, and participating in a group challenge here at MFP has me moving more than normal this week. I have my first big personal challenge coming up this weekend. I'm taking a trip with the boyfriend and I always get a little lax when I take trips.…

Hi everyone. I started this thing well over a year ago with an initial goal of losing 138lbs. I've lost 75 at my highest point, and have had my ups and downs as you do. I've learned a lot about myself and weight loss in that time (and am currently 7lbs up from that lowest weight). I know how to get it done, and I'm not in…

Me too my friend, me too. So I'm just going to get back to work, slowly. I figured a good place to start is right here, making one commitment for this day... So JFT - I will not snack after dinner. I will log all of my food and water, and I will stop eating when dinner is over.

Dry white wines are usually a decent caloric choice. Or a rosé, either one should come in around 120kcal per glass assuming you're not using a massive glass :p As far as a cocktail goes, you can still work one in, just have to choose wisely. Vodka and soda with lemon or lime is nice, or gin and diet tonic. You simply…

You need to take a step back and breathe. Gain, lose, or maintain, your weight does not define who you are, nor should it dictate your level of happiness. Your current mental state is why I despise intense, aggressive weight loss plans. They may knock the weight off, but the damage they do to the soul is too heavy a price…

I get this way from time to time too. In my head, I know that following a healthier diet (for weight loss) and a better fitness routine (for health) makes me feel better, not just physically, but mentally as well. Trouble is, that number on the scale sometimes looms far too large in my head, and it drains my spirit a…

Motivation is a fickle friend. It will desert you when you need it most, and no words from anyone will be able to force it back to your side. Instead, learn solid, healthy habits and discipline yourself to follow them no matter what else may be going on. Even when you feel terrible, you just follow your habits instead of…

Starting Weight: 242 Goal Weight: 190 Current Weight: 228 Total loss: 14lbs This week I had a big drop. For some reason, I always follow these up with terrible food days and that's exactly what I did this weekend. I try to keep only healthy foods on hand, but even healthy foods can be overdone. However I managed to lay my…

Starting Weight: 242 Goal Weight: 190 Current Weight: 232 This week I did well with calories and fitness goals but I exceeded my sodium excessively last night because of a BBQ. Well I had fun, but I feel bloated today, so I guess I just pay the piper and move forward this week. I need to do better with my sodium, and also…

Oh man. Ok OP, here's the jist of it: Drink Shakes instead of meals, Take that one weight loss pill, Avoid these five foods, Don't eat sugar, You have to drink apple cider vinegar for breakfast every second Tuesday each month, Do at least 400 minutes of cardio every week, Absolutely no sweets, Eat fewer calories than your…

Well welcome back. I hope you can find something that doesn't feel as restrictive as it has in the past. A lot of it is about your mindset, so think about this: It's not a race, June is great but if it doesn't happen by then, then it'll happen some other month, so long as you don't quit. You don't have to give up…

There are no "right" calories, only the right amount of calories. I've lost 80lbs so far and I incorporate all kinds of calories into my meals - including carbs and sugar. For weight loss, the source of calories is unimportant unless it interferes with your satiety. ETA: It's tough when you have necessary dietary…

Starting Weight: 242 Goal Weight: 190 Current Weight: 233 This week I met my fitness goals, but struggled tonight on my calorie goal. I met the weekly deficit I set for myself, but overdid it tonight at a banquet and now I feel over-full and sluggish. I may not even think about the scale for a few days.

Starting Weight: 242 Goal Weight: 190 Current Weight: 235 This week's successes: I stayed well within my goals and calories for the entire work week, including workout goals. This week's challenges: I totally failed at resisting snacking on both weekend days. I have a feeling it's hormonal since it's tom for me, so maybe I…

This is the most sensible response so far. Very few people actually need to cut carbs medically. Unless you've been directed to do so by your physician, then stop. See if adding the carbs back in makes you feel better. If it does, then keto is not worth the effort for you - find another way to your deficit. If it doesn't…

STATS FOR THIS CHALLENGE: Starting Weight: 242 Goal Weight: 190 Current Weight: 239 This week's successes: I stretched every night this week except for one, my water intake was 96oz+ each day, and I managed to avoid late night snacking for 6/7 days. This week's challenges: I caved to a snacking session last night and…

Oh I'm a bit late, but I'm in for the challenge. I lost 70 pounds last year, so maybe I can make up for the first two missed weeks. Believe I'll check in on Mondays :) My stats and goals for this challenge: Starting Weight: 242 Goal Weight: 190 Current Weight: 242 This week's successes: I made it to the gym three times so…

Congrats on the little one! Good news, you don't need exercise to lose weight. A moderate calorie deficit is the only thing required to drop the pounds. If you're breastfeeding, then you'll want to be very careful of your dietary content if you go into a deficit right now, but honestly that's all you need. I'd check with…

This is key for me. I find if I really savor my food - meals and snacks, then I'm far less likely to mindlessly over eat.

I had a prediabetic A1C (5.9) in March of 2018. Losing a moderate amount of weight (5-10%) of your current weight, and increasing your exercise throughout the week are your best tools. Whatever foods you can eat to get you into a deficit that allows your weight to drop will greatly reduce your risk of developing diabetes.…
