  • @FeelinFooFoo Forgot my suggestion to you in the blurb above LOL If you decide to remain AF for your bro's b'day, try really watching people as the alcohol takes effect....it could be an eye-opener for you and you might begin to think of the connection of alcohol to specific events as less of a temptation for you...it's…
  • @FeelinFooFoo I was wondering if you've ever really observed others who are drinking when you are not. The reason I ask that is because this round of being around others' drinking while sober, I wasn't so focused on my end of things as to how I was going to resist the plentiful drinks, but on how it was influencing others…
  • Good for you!!! Yes it is empowering to gain control over something we never thought we'd be able to control. I need to apply this to my eating issue!!!! Is there specific ways that you cope with your anxiety now that you've stopped masking it with alcohol?
  • People mag is highlighting Kelly Obsourne's 2 year anniversary of her sobriety today. The blurb said she put a pic of her 12 steps app on instagram and thanked all those who supported her through her journey and she expressed her gratitude for how much her life has changed in the past 2 years. She ended by saying, "If you…
  • @FeelinFooFoo Proud of you :D @RubyRed427 and @JenT304 Hi to you two too! B) @donimfp I hope that the ENT has more encouraging news for you re: lessening your ear issues. You have a good attitude in spite of getting such discouraging news. Disappointment is a totally normal reaction. You're not ranting, just sharing your…
  • @Whitpauly <3 Beyond insensitive & thoughtless!! I agree that when people get to the point where they want to end their life, they are in a place in their head space where they just want to end their pain...I'm not even sure they want to die, but they see no other option in order to be out of the pain that seems never…
  • I'm Back from my quickie vaycay. The weather turned out fine. Cooler than we've had normally, but definitely more comfortable. My niece's pool is quite warm so it was lovely with the cooler weather. I thought there was only going to be a couple of people there, but ended up being quite a crowd of family for dinner and lots…
  • GOOD MORN to all B) It's a grey, overcast morning in my neck of the woods and I'm headed a few hours south to stay overnight at my niece's place. I was hoping to lounge in her pool this aft, but they are calling for thunderstorms in her area, so I will need to have a dip when the risk has passed. My goal is to float for a…
  • @cwolfman13 WOW...I read your profile & another WOW!! really enlightening post here & your profile story about your Dad touched my heart, & the desire to be a better you for your wife and two boys. I hope for your continued success in your new healthy lifestyle and in your quest to face your issues with alcohol. I also…
  • Hi There: It was a lovely non-religious service for my bro. So there was no talk about the Bible's explanation on why we die, what happens at death or what hope there is to see our loved ones again...so in one sense, for me, there was something missing and a bit of a feeling of emptiness from that angle. AT the same time,…
  • GOOD MORN to All B) Tis a Lovely, HOT as Hades, day in the hood. I am on first day of vaycay...I took this week off due to my bro's service tomorrow. It will be an emotional day for us all, but a good day too to be together. I have family coming from all over...parts of Canada, the U.S., across the pond who I haven't seen…
  • @FeelinFooFoo It's an easy "habit" to develop to drink through the week, but the difference for some of us is the habit turns into a dependency and once our brain is hooked, then it is a constant struggle to gain control...which again, for some of us, is never going to happen, it's just a game we play to continue to drink.…
  • TIME TO GET ANGRY It's about time you got angry - YES, that angry. Anger can be such a potent, frightening emotion. It can also be a feeling that guides us to important decisions, sometimes decisions difficult to make. It can signal other's peoples problems, our problems, or simply problems we need to address. We deny our…
  • Good Morn: B) I had my marker in a particular place in my Letting Go book because it resonated with what I had been struggling with on & off and at the time that I came across it, I put the marker there to read it "later" and never got around to reading it until just recently. It is entitled "Time To Get Angry" NOW it is a…
  • Good Morn: I have 2 goals to switch up my mindset. The first is to get out of bed each morning & walk for 30 mins without my dog. Todays goal #1 accomplished @ 6:30 a.m. YAY!! Most people find a dog to be a motivator to walk...mine, not so much...We start our walk out with 10 mins of sniffing and then I try to kick it into…
  • GOOD MORN B) To All: Today's "Letting Go" blurb is about Gratitude and it begins with a quote from the book Codependent No More, "WE learn the magical lesson that making the most of what we have turns it into more" and then goes on.... 'Say thank you, until you mean it. Thank God, life and the universe for everyone and…
  • @MonkeyMel21 Welcome Welcome :) @RubyRed427 & @JenT304 Very nice pics of you two lovely ladies...hope you're having a blast together. So nice that you've been able to meet in person.
  • @FeelinFooFoo You CAN do this...you HAVE done this and will do it again....you GO girl!! ;)
  • YUP, I can relate to this...wine was my drink of choice also and I could manage to drink an entire bottle in one evening (again) many times...It was too easy to do and that was when it became scary for me and I realized that I "think" I have a problem...NOW I KNOW I have a problem!!
  • WOW...That is inspiring!! YAY!
  • @Yellowstone1983 Glad you're back & recommitted and very proactive to have a plan in place for the inevitable cravings. Someone at my AA group tonight referred to alcoholism as a very sneaky, patient disease.
  • You have it under control now!! And I love your new profile pic <3
  • Ruby & Jen I am SO jealous...but in a good way!!! Awesome...that's SO exciting...how did you guys meet up?
  • Hi all...nice to hear all of your strength & determination...it gives me strength & determination. My 2nd AA meeting tonight...a different location with different people, but we know it is all the same <3 Please take care & stay strong & determined <3
  • OK I'm ticked at the MFP censor...not that I use foul language as a rule but "kitten" just doesn't cut it when it was supposed to be "Witch....with a B..." OR B.....itch!" Let's see if I can override the system...here goes I'm about to post reply....and see if my sneaky ways work....
  • You encourage us too...thank you <3
  • WOW!!! I am SO excited to see all these comments...OMG as in goodness!!! I've decided to change Dick Van "kitten's" name to Dick Van DICK pronounced with a long i instead of a short i...I know @Whitpauly it cracks me up too...in fact when I was trying to type his name that night and the MFP censor kept typing "kitten" when…
  • HIGH BOTTOM...that perfectly describes quitting alcohol before the really serious side effects kick in. The opposite of that is when a person hits such a low and has done it over & over & over and you think, "This HAS TO BE his/her bottom!!" But, the "bottom" always has a basement and for some it is like an abyss because…
  • Ditto <3 YES IT IS...the lying, robbing, enemy alcohol and it is also a murderer not just of literal lives but of good intentions, hopes and dreams!!!
  • One word sums up my first AA experience OVERWHELMING!!! It is a small group of 10 or so where I went and they were very friendly and welcoming as I bawled through most of the meeting. I listened & could agree with lots said and I even decided to say a bit...don't ask me what...just a mishmash of stuff and as I passed the…
