It's really frustratingly simple. Eat fewer calories. Either smaller portions of what you're eating, or foods that are less calorie-dense. Maybe replace eggs with egg whites? If the number is truly arbitrary then why not focus on your strength training? It's easier to cut fat when you have more muscle mass.
