  • Hahaha @mom23mangos (also..this name..did you eat 23 mangos??) & @mbaker566 I am so with you on this! I was so sure I was close to this jigsaw yesterday and then looked at the photo and..wow..damn thats wonky and my face looks extra derp-y. BUT have noticed that posture is much better in holding "split" (I'm still no where…
  • Hey Girl! That's not rubbish AT ALL! Good work! I think you are right that its at least 50% fear .. once you accept that you are not going to fall on your head it gets better instantly. I've not seen any advancement in my split in the stretches but DEFINITELY felt a difference on the lyra, been working on hip holds this…
  • @TiisTitanium I HAVE MEGA RIG ENVY. If I had one I would blatantly just sit in it all the time with a martini being fancy Nice shoulder stand there on the lyra and look at that lovely arm-muscle definition on the trapeze! Whoop! if you can get your legs straight from there (on the lyra) you could try a transition into…
  • I think straight (well wonky in my case) is easier than bending your knee - have you tried going into it from Star in a bar? Then your legs are already in the right position Thanks @DananaNanas , Yesterday was the first time I went to practice and had to rig my own kit.. I checked like 3 times I'd done the knot right :D I…
  • Well done everyone so far! My phone decided only to save 5 minutes of the video of the stretches so you will all have to laugh at my heel stretch another day. Still VERY far away from the group. this is my Gazelle on the lyra and top-bar stage. Would love to get to top bar split and get that Gazelle goddamn straight by the…
  • I am no where near a heel stretch, I think I might be bit too old to ever get there now! Regretting quitting ballet at 5
  • WOW DAMN GIRL That's fantastic!
  • Ok, so this is the starting point! I will get my fella to photograph other stretches tomorrow - the ones I took myself were terrible as trying to hold phone at same time proved impossible :D Improvising with a pile of old diaries for a yoga block (N.B my usual work out gear is NOT this skimpy! I just threw a sports bra on…
  • Wow! Your son and his teacher sound awesome! Yeah, there are very, very few men at my studio. Though there seem to be more in core de lisse and trapeze than Hoop and Silks which for some strange reason people seem to think of as 'girly' - I have seen dudes quickly seem to revise that opinion when they see how many pull ups…
  • It took me a LONG time to get anywhere with silks and now I still find I get knackered with all the climbing quickly which limits the moves. Hoop/Lyra is So much more forgiving! Kudos to your son! Harness is awesome!
  • Thanks @xelsoo, It's called aerial - I do silks and hoop disciplines. I think in the US hoop is called 'Lyra' but never heard anyone in the UK call it that! I used to love acroyoga.. maybe next challenge will be finally getting that headstand :) x
  • Oh thanks for these stretches! I''d like to join this challenge please - I am no where near a split at the moment and would be brilliant to see some progress. Especially for box split, Here's a starting photo of a horribly wonky Russian split, lets see if I can get this looking better by the end of the month!
