  • McDonalds salads are better for you than a McDonalds cheese burger. The cheese burger has less fat, less calories and more protein than the salad. The salad dressing is all fat and calories, iceberg lettuce has little nutritional value. Get rid of the cheese and bun on the burger and you are doing even better. Not that I…
  • I have been looking at several calorie calculators on various websites, the amount the treadmill displayed isn't too far off from what the various calculators say. This is the Under Armour calculator: https://www.mapmywalk.com/improve/calorie_calculator/ I looked at others as well, there is about a 75 calorie difference…
  • Thank you all for your help, I do appreciate it. Kshama2001, thank you for the link. I do not go under 1,200 calories a day, I keep it close to 1,500. I am not burning 600 calories, according to the treadmill I burn about 375-400. I know you are not suppose to hold on to the handles on the treadmill but I do. I can walk…
  • Thank you but If I am not hungry I am not going to eat. I never feel hungry when I close the day. I am sure the treadmill is over estimating my calories burned. Everything I read has said those treadmill estimates usually over estimate your calories burned. When I complete the day MFP will give me a warning if I have not…
  • No I do not. Calories burned is an estimate, I try to stay under my original suggested calories as it is. If you want to lose weight you have to burn more than you consume.
  • I believe you can edit, but not duplicate and edit. To have two recipes with slightly different ingredients, go to your original recipe to look at the ingredients. Highlight them and copy, create a new recipe, select "Add Recipe Manually" (under the URL) and paste the ingredients in the box. Fix the list so all items are…
  • A delicacy yes but they are not local. ;) Red Socks! Bruins!
  • As others have said getting a more restful sleep will help. With me I have a lot of problem starting to exercise but once I get going I feel a lot better. I recommend doing more exercise but start off slowly and build up. Currently I am not doing any strength training, just walking on the treadmill for an hour each morning…
  • When I was younger I would travel and people had no idea what 'chicken wings' were! Chicken Riggies, Utica Greens, and Tomato Pie are my hometown's local favorites. I am not overly crazy about the first two, there are many times I wish I could have found a piece of tomato pie. (high crabs) I never liked BBQ until I had…
  • I don't take it seriously but I did start keeping track of it for fun. "If everyday was like today...." Everyday WONT be like today. When I began MFP I started screen capturing my predicted weights, I ended up being under my predicted weight As the month went on I took better control of my diet so I lost more weight. One…
  • You need to burn more calories than you consume. Start logging your foods, start logging your exersices and be very accurate when you log them. I was shocked at the difference from when I thought I was paying attention to what I was eating and when I *really* started paying attention and logging what I was eating.
  • I just read this, https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10213155/a-guide-to-going-out-to-eat/p1 This part is important.
  • It was your birthday, we are all allowed a day of weakness every once and a while! Lemon meringue pie is delicious. "Pie is much better than cake for a birthday treat. The only reason people choose cake is because they can write on it, a pie will win every time." (Paraphrased from Adam Carolla) However..... when you want a…
  • I haven't logged out, but I did close it. It started up and I can use the app. (Android) Are you using Android or Iphone?
  • When to weigh yourself is up to you, they recommend once a week. I think this is more physiological, if you weigh yourself everyday and don't see big changes or if you have a day you gain back a pound or two some people might get discouraged. If you can handle that there will be days of small changes in weight, or maybe a…
  • As a new user I found this strange as well, many of the items are entered by users trying to be helpful, the data may not be the most accurate. Look at the measurements, (weight / amount / serving size) and compare it to what you have. Look for a green check mark next to an item, this is suppose to be "verified" Search the…
