At the momement I am weighing all the food I cook and prepare. I do most of my own cooking, and we mostly eat/cook from home. Exceptions so far are, when I got takeaway, except I did weigh my pizza, to see how the slices went. When my husband made us burgers, I logged how much mince he used, eg 500g makes four patties, the…

What is your suggested tdee? The Fitbit burn includes what you would do doing nothing, and adds calories for movement. I find mine accurate to an extent, but most calculators under estimate for me. This is thought comes from tracking and my results. Eg losing faster than projected. Some people find the opposite.

I agree with above. If you wear your Fitbit on your runs, it will record your steps and pace, and estimate how much you have burnt. This is with my flex and how my one worked. I know hr models work a bit differently. Unless you try to manually add cardio and get the timing off, it shouldn't double dip. It just overrides. I…

Hi, I had a hard time with my first baby, basically lost weight too quickly, worn out from labour, trouble feeding etc. The child health nurse recommended sustagen which comes in different types. Basically a milk drink with added vitamins. There would be different brands available, and some varieties are more suitable than…

I think it also varies person to person. So it is something you need to play with yourself. A bit like breakfast or any other meal. I am a night shift worker, so I broke my fast with a cappuccino, then had three eggs for my meal. My preworkout was a black coffee while putting the kids to bed. I was happy with my lifts…

I would worry that doing two sessions might be too much on one day. Sometimes it can reduce performance in the second one or increase the risk of injury. I know at one stage in my early 20s I was doing to training sessions on one day, but if I remember they may have had a different focus. Also I had no one else to worry…

I am female, but commenting as a daughter here. It's worth while getting a regular blood test at your age. My father found out he had prostate cancer in his late 60s. My understanding is with men's cancers (and women's) hormones play a big part. So I would only recommend changing your hormone levels under medical…

I am usually having two at time when I take them too work. Mostly because I get a decent amount of calories easily without being too filling. If I wasn't so active and didn't need the calories, I would be finding a more satisfying carb/bread option.

For me, a cup of coffee is enough of a stimulant. My heart rate and blood pressure tend to be low, but if I attempt to raise it with anymore than a standard cup of coffee or equivalent, the raise and than drop make me feel off. Also I have found working night shift , that over doing caffeine can be counter productive. I…

It's a pain for me as well. My calories in seem to be accurate in what shows on Fitbit, but of course I am in the red a lot on mfp. It's not the end of the world for me, but it make it harder to track a pattern. I often need 1000 calories more on work days, which probably looks strange to some people when they read my…

As others have mentioned, veggies contain calories and nutrients. I am trying to get 120 g of protein most days, emphasis on trying.... Any way stuff like spinach and broccoli for example really help with that.

Hi, how was your appetite on your trip? I find not so much cardio, but the fresh air makes me hungry. The same way kids always eat more after playing at the park. I think if you have time and have a better idea of how much and what you can eat with you digestive issues to take in enough calories, go for it. In my ideal…

Due to my work hours, my husband does most of the cooking for our girls and himself, also some for me, though I often take it to eat at work. At the moment, I need to eat a lot as I am very active. He is a stay at home dad, and the kids are on holidays so no walking to school, so he isn't eating so much. When he isn't so…

Hi, I am a come back user, trying to lose weight much slower this time. I am just in the overweight category, but definitely need to reduce my waist size. I have a very active job, so a high calorie count. Trying to get more consistent with strength training as well. Definitely need friends to chat to and help keep me on…

I wonder if it has something to do with all the footballers in the 80's (at least here in Australia) talking about carbon loading the night before a match, then getting fat in retirement. I know as a kid before athletics, cross country or race walking days (so Friday or Saturday dinners) Dad always cooked us a big plate of…

Hi, my eldest girl is almost 12. I am hoping to start her with some weights after she gets over the cold she has. From reading it's a good age for girls to start. My reasons for wanting her to lift are..... she has low upper body strength compared to girls her age, she is developing well, and complains her back gets sore…
