  • Nutrition is a matter of Tetris-ing whatever foods you enjoy to get enough protein, healthy fat, fiber, and micronutrients, with a sensible calorie goal, most days. Ha!! I’ve never known anybody besides my sister and me who uses “Tetris” as a verb! 😂👍🏻
  • Abdominal fat is anterior to abdominal muscle, meaning that your ab muscles are under/behind the fat. So to answer your question, you cannot logistically “hide” belly fat by “toning” your ab muscles. Some people can build definition in their abs and can change the way their abs look from under a thin layer of fat without…
  • I purposely take a break for a day or a few days once in a while to break my logging streak. When I logged for almost a full year it started to feel like a chore and sort of like I was doing it to hit that one year mark. I stopped logging on day 360, but since I’ve started up again, I’ve enjoyed it and it feels good.
  • “There's plenty of motion, but the cords do most of the actual work, and some of the moves are very much useless” The cords facilitate the flying in a circle, yes, but the person has to use their muscles and strength to hold up 100% of their body weight while in the air.
  • Lower the incline but don’t hold the bar. Swing your arms back and forth normally while set to an incline level which allows you to do this. Also lower your speed a bit so you don’t feel the need to hold on.
  • How is everybody doing? Is anybody still following the plan? Me, I stopped at day 14 when I ate yogurt. It opened up the floodgates to sugar like I knew it would, and I found myself eating sweets again. It’s really too bad that I have an all-or-nothing mentality. For 14 days I looked past the chocolate squares in the…
  • If I had 8 vials drawn in a fasted state and didn’t eat until several hours later, I probably would have fainted! And yes, it would have taken me a couple of extra hours to get my bearings once I had eaten. Your reaction sounds appropriate to me given the conditions you describe.
  • Ok, I’ve got a bit of a dilemma: I was driving home with my daughter yesterday, I had a bit of a stomach ache and I was sort of light headed. When I got home I had one of my favorite “healthy” comfort foods: plain (unsweetened) low-fat yogurt with fruit, nuts, and flaxseeds. So good! I felt sooooo much better! Now, do I…
  • Looks yummy! Love that plate, too.

  • And I was thinking “Ewwww!”
  • I’m on day 11. How are you doing so far?
  • I use the free version as well. I don’t see any reason I would need to pay for an upgrade, which might be fun to see, but not necessary for my success or goals.
  • Today is Day 11 for me and I’m feeling good. I’m sleeping more soundly than usual lately, not sure if that has anything to do with Whole30, more likely the increased exercise. The book says most people quit on day 10 or 11 so I’m determined to make today a really good eating day and try a new recipe or two.
  • That’s too bad, this group is so small... wishing you success in your health goals, whatever they may be!
  • One way I like to look at it: Consumption (calorie intake)= weight loss/weight gain Exercise= modify your physical appearance [/quote] That’s mostly how I think of it. I log calories to lose/maintain weight, but I exercise for improved health markers, decreased anxiety, and a more pleasing physique.
  • I’m 5’5”, medium frame, 44 y.o. and maintained at 140-142 for over a year. Now trying to reach my ultimate goal weight of 132. (Started at 157.)
  • I’ve been off plan for a few months and gained back 5/6 pounds from eating sugary treats and refined carb snacks - after having successfully maintained for about one year. I’m currently doing Whole30 to break the sugar addiction. I’m on day 6 and have almost zero cravings for things like cookies, crackers, bagels, or cake.…

  • I’m in! Though, technically I’m not supposed to be weighing myself since I started Whole30 on Dec 28 to test gluten sensitivity. Oh well, I’m doing what works for me :) Ultimate starting weight June 2017: 157 Challenge start weight 1/2/20: 143.2 Goal by Valentine’s Day: 139
  • Spinach and tomato frittata with a generous squeeze of lemon on top.
  • I actually started already on Dec 28. Once I made the decision to do it, I was afraid I might lose my determination if I waited. It’s only been two days so I’m still feeling great, and my sugar cravings for cookies and cake-ey desserts has all but disappeared. This is pretty close to to the way I was eating when I lost the…
  • I’m easing into the Whole30 way of eating at the moment and plan to start for real by January.
  • I’d like to join you on the whole 30 challenge because I also find myself reaching for sugary snacks or chocolate late in the evening out of habit or boredom when I’m not humgry. I lost 19 pounds last year and have maintained relatively effortlessly until recently when I’ve overindulged in sugary snacks and treats - gained…
  • I have at least one per day for the potassium.
  • I’m finishing a second box of cookies (not in one sitting - nibbled all afternoon and evening). It’s been an exhausting two weeks (daughter off to college out of state in her first apartment and we have a 9 week old puppy) but I’ve been eating well otherwise. I needed this mentally :))
  • Salted cold foam cold brew - I don’t get it too often as it has a lot of saturated fat. Iced Caramel Cloud Macchiato - but only if they make it correctly and the milk looks and feels like a thick white cloud (I only order this at a particular location where they consistently make it right). Every other time I have black…
  • Since you’re only about 23 pounds away from goal AND you’re breastfeeding, I’d say you should aim to lose no more than half a pound per week.
  • It all depends! In my area, organic berries (raspberries, blackberries) cost around $5.99-$6.99 per half pint. I usually buy at least 4-6 containers. That’s $24-$42, without accounting for strawberries, blueberries, and all other fruits and veggies. $90.33 sounds very reasonable to me where I live.
  • I’ve heard of this concept in terms of ones wardrobe: that we tend to wear only 20% of our clothing 80% of the time.
