  • I am around your height and weight - 10 years older. I too struggled and obsessed when I tried to hit a protein target of 100+, because I just don't prefer to eat that way and ended up adding calories that I didn't really want just to up the protein. I now ignore that and only focus only on getting enough fibre. I eat…
  • Yeah I just think it is weird I have been tested at least 20 times, including rapid and PCR tests, none have ever been positive. You would think one of them would have picked something up. Negative PCR test in June 2020 - but then months of post viral type symptoms. This one I can maybe see being wrong as my doctor said…
  • So the last few weeks I realized a pattern where I smell a smokey smell randomly. Started to worry me so I mentioned it to my husband and he has been experiencing he same thing - since he had Covid in December. Except I never had Covid - tested negative multiple times. It is so weird to me that I suspect I might have been…
  • As mentioned earlier in the thread I'm 5' 10" and my husband is about 5' 8" ish (he has shrunk about an inch in the last 35 years due to back problems/compression). Someone said to me the other day that I probably hope that I shrink as I age (ummm .. no!) because I "tower over him" now. I am two inches taller. Since when…
  • I plan to continue working from home as much as possible. I have been going into the office throughout, lock downs affected how much time I spent at the office, but we were never locked out completely. I don't ever plan on going back to the office 5 days a week - right now I am doing 2 in the office and 3 at home which…
  • It could be water - 55 oz isn't all that much - especially if it isn't consistent. I eat 30-40 grams of fibre daily, and plenty of fat - but even one day of reduced water intake throws my digestion off for several days. Maybe try really watching your water intake for a few days before you make any big diet changes?
  • The only way to get my binge eating under control was to give up trying to "moderate" binge foods. I have certain foods that are triggers so I just had to decide I won't eat those foods again, ever. (The book "Never Binge Again" helped me to wrap my mind around this - it's probably not for everyone.)

  • I can't wait for the end of the mask mandate. I only wear one now where I am required to, and will stop when the requirement ends. This of course is based on current conditions, if another virulent variant pops up I will reassess. As of now with Omicron basically being a cold for the overwhelming majority I think it's time…
  • I ordered a new vehicle in December (Ford Maverick Hybrid) salesman told me end of January delivery. End of January came and went and they don't even have the VIN yet, and once they get that it will be another 60 days. I already gave my perfectly good SUV to my son because he needed it - so now I am driving an old junker…
  • So annoying. I am waiting for a new truck (which I think might be coming from Mexico?). It was *supposed* to be here end of January but delivery is no where in sight. This will probably delay it even more.
  • Is masking required? Honestly I am ready to ditch the mask. As soon as the mandate ends here I won't be wearing one.
  • Server wage used to be lower than minimum wage here - $12.55 vs $15 but it just went up to $15 (so equal to minimum wage for everyone else) on January 1st. Now I can see why burgers are only $7 in some places. Tipping culture is so weird - I wish it would just be eliminated and everyone just get paid a fair wage. My…
  • $2.13? is this a typo?
  • I can't imagine that you could get a burger anywhere around here for $7-10 even before the pandemic. How did they even make money on that after overhead and staff? I would say $17 would be a pretty average price for a burger & fries at a pub. Minimum wage for servers just went up to $15 per hour here in January, so I…
  • For me it's because I am tired. I wake up at 5-ish, walk my dogs, workout, clean up my house/kitchen from the day before and prep my food for the day, then go to work. By the time I am done work I don't have the energy to exercise again or do a "hobby", and fatigue saps my willpower despite my good intentions from earlier…
  • I didn't isolate from my husband either - mostly because it was 4 days before Christmas and I didn't want to spend the holidays totally alone. But we did isolate from everyone else. I never did get it (we both had our boosters the previous week.)
  • I believe there is a distinction between a known exposure and a household exposure. If you live with the person who is positive, and don't isolate from them, it isn't the same recommendations as a random, casual type exposure as far as quarantine goes (here anyway).
  • That is how I understand it too. My mom's retirement home just emailed that they are rolling out 4th shots this week, even though they just got through an outbreak with no major issues. Oh well I'll let them give her another shot, I guess it won't hurt her - just seems unnecessary.
  • I think Quebec is doing this - but they aren't calling it a "mandate" but rather a health surtax for those who refuse the vaccine.
  • Not sure why they are even giving 4th shot boosters here. A prominent doctor here said that he has yet to admit a triple vaxx'd person into the ICU. But it's like they need to do SOMETHING so lets roll out 4th shots - with absolutely no evidence that we even need them.
  • It means that you can travel internationally with your positive test results for 180 days, and not have to worry about a PCR test coming up as an asymptomatic positive, which would delay getting back into my country (Canada).
  • Honestly at this point given how obiquitous it is I would just not test and keep on doing what I needed to do.
  • I thought that too but somehow managed to avoid getting it when my family had it. I wish I did test positive, at this point I just want to get it over with. Given my extensive exposures I am assuming that I am immune due to either previous exposure or vaccine response. I just wish I had that confirmation of being post…
  • Interestingly I just read something today that says the opposite - it loses 90% of it's ability to infect within 20 mintues. I'll try to find it. ETA - it is preliminary and not peer reviewed yet. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.01.08.22268944v1.full.pdf
  • Well if their parents lose their jobs and homes because businesses are locked down then that won't be great for children either. They are opening in person school here on Monday after an extended break - but many business are still locked down. I personally don't agree with that. I mean the parents and teachers around here…
  • They started doing that here this week - and it is close to 50% of the total "covid" cases in hospitals being admitted for something else and coincidentally testing positive. We are again in lockdown here so this is infuriating to me. There is no reason why vaxx'd and boosted people need to be locked down. And since every…
  • This is the information I was looking for - and it has nothing to do with me being unable to do the math or understanding the implications. The information I was reading was that Omicron *doesn't* infiltrate the lungs, which led me to wonder if something else was driving hospitalizations. This information that it is 60%…
  • Yeah I get that a lower hospitalization rate of a larger number of infections still means more hospitalizations. My questions was what are they being hospitalized for? If Omicron doesn't infect the lungs, and most Covid hospitalizations were for lung involvement - basically I am asking what does a severe Omicron infection…
  • OK I have a possibly stupid question maybe the medical people here can answer. I keep reading that Omicron infects the upper airway but doesn't infiltrate the lungs like the other variants do - so what are people being hospitalized for in this wave? I know the hospitalization rate is lower but there are still loads of…
