I use sugar-free pudding mix with 2 cups of unsweetened almond milk and 1/2 tsp of xanthan gum. The xanthan gum is tricky to use - I thoroughly blend it with the dry pudding mix, add the almond milk, then use a hand mixer. The fail is when the xanthan gum clumps instead of being evenly distributed, but even then it's…

Nice summary - definitely good advice!

It looks like MPF uses the Mifflin St Jeor equation to calculate basal metabolism rate. That takes height, weight, age and gender into account. I'm not convinced that a taller person burns significantly more calories per step. An easy beginner mistake is to assume they're so different from the averages that they're burning…

Maybe, although balancing the macros seems to be what the basic MFP goals are based on. It can be too easy to just track total calories, and carbohydrates are so pervasive that I find they tend to dominate if I'm not careful. Unless you're on a special diet, a good starting point seems to be the basic MFP macro ratio and…

And other habit I found helpful. Most days I enter most if not all of my food in the morning before I eat it. That way, I know ahead of time if I have space for something else, am lacking some macros (and now micro nutrients), or if I need to cut back. It helps a lot to plan ahead. Whenever I go out to eat, I scope out the…

Forgot to note that my calories from walking became considerably more accurate (and lower) when I put Pedometer++ on my phone and linked it to MFP. Walking doesn't burn as many calories as the exercise database entries indicate. Sedentary lifestyle assumes 5000 steps/day, so I don't start getting many walking exercise…

I'm fairly new so I remember what it was like (started May 2018), but I've also learned quite a bit. So, here's what helped me: - Make sure your activity/lifestyle setting is accurate. I picked sedentary because I have an office job. - Be truthful about your entries. Everything you don't put down is still going into your…

Being in a relationship doesn't guarantee all the things you're looking for either. My wife has turned into a workaholic so we don't intersect that often, and even when we do we just don't have common interests. I have much richer friend relationships at work, people I can talk to about issues, problems, achievements and…

Hope things continue to improve for you, OHFlamingo! I think I'm getting a good calorie count using the InMotion Strider while standing and using the Pedometer ++ step count to generate calories in MFP. I've been working from home over the past week and get several hours of standing time on the Strider. It's definitely a…

Does anyone have an update on how they're counting calories on the InMotion Striders? I just got one today. I figure with the hardest standing workout (can talk in short sentences) I'll count 60% of the machine's calorie count, or use the MFP brisk walk cardio numbers for the minutes. For a standing, lesser workout while…
