This isn't an exercise (sorry) as much as just a tip/comment, but for the past few months I've been spending my lunch hour walking (lucky enough to live in a city with lots of interesting places to walk), and I feel way better. I get a sore lower back too and the walking kind of helps stretch me out.

No idea if there's any truth to it but I feel like since I started drinking tons of water, it's helped mine. I also feel like squats help a lot.
