The OP didn't mention carpal tunnel, that was other people's assumptions. My mom types a lot and has no carpal tunnel issues but I'm also pretty sure she hasn't done a push-up in 30 years and if she were to start doing push ups 3x a week suddenly I'd bet my bottom dollar her wrists would hurt for a while until her joints…

I posted a thread about water fluctuations a few days back. I went into last Friday at 229. Drank all weekend, chicken and waffles, popcorn at the movies etc. I was 237 Monday after work. This morning I am 226 and change after being on my "lowish carb" cut diet all week(200g of carbs...not low lol) Water counts for so…

I've never not been obsessed with peanut butter. In fact I tell my friends that my ideal woman Squats *kitten* to grass and eats peanut butter by the tablespoon.

At 185 you would be in the overweight category for BMI at 5'11.

I'm currently running a 1000 cal deficit and still eat 3000 cals a day - personally with these kinds of numbers idc if I'm over or under by a few hundred. My protien goal is also set high on purpose so as long as I get within about 30g of it I don't really care much. I also have days where I say screw it and dont track and…

I don't usually endorse their use but mass gainer shakes might be of help to you as they are really quick to make and drink, and can be upwards of 1200 cals. Sorry to hear about your condition.

Wow, lots disagrees on this. When I went back to lifting my joints aches like crazy, I couldn't extend my elbows etc. It was temporary and now I lift 3-4x as heavy as I did when I started again and my joints are fine.

Ok you definitely have some visceral fat and need to cut weight. For reference I'm 6'1 and 228ish and have a 39-40 inch waist with a 17.5 inch neck and I'm cutting- however most of mine is subcutaneous (about an inch all the way around, little more on the lovehandles) and I also do strongman training so my core is going to…
-
It depends on the fat distribution, and core strength. 38 isn't ideal, but it isn't necessarily terrible if and it's kind of likely if you have a beast core from heavy squats, deads, loaded carrys etc. Also is it hard, or is it squishy? Hard is likely a combination of visceral fat and core strength, squishy is…

Not ADD, but bipolar here. I went through a depression and went from 205 to 301 over about 2 years (205-270 in 9 months). Also I was living off my savings not working, not working out, and eating like crap and way too much of it. When I decided to make a change, I went back to the weightlifting first because I honestly…

Just stop.

That is exactly what I wanted, thank you!

This is exactly what I was going to suggest.

Lower the weight and focus on building the neuromuscular connections for the movement
-
Keep going, your joints will adapt.

I'm on the go a lot, you just gotta learn to play with macros. A bag of beef jerky and reese's peanut butter cups is actually a balanced meal macro-wise.

If you're dreading going to the gym, you need to re-think what kind of active person you are. I can tell you that if my workouts were running and bodyweight based I would dread them, but I love cycling and lifting and actually look forward to them all day at work.

Legs is on the schedule but my gym is going through a bit of a renovation so theres no room for farmers or sleds...so I'm skipping to the next day in schedule and doing log presses and some shoulder accessories. I'll make up for the legs with bike rides.

Bipolar with anxiety here. Also, history of polysubstance abuse issues and an unparalleled talent for self destruction. I keep things in mostly in check with meds, weight lifting, meditation, and tracking my food intake. Notice how I said partially in check...I am strict during the week with diet - and I'm a little more…

I may just have a skewed perspective but your calories seem INSANELY low.

I'd love to see the reverse of this where he starts carb depleted/flat/dehydrated and then drinks a 12 pack of Heineken and eats 4000cals of Carl's Jr. And watch the abs disappear.

I meal prep my breakfast and lunches, and rather than once a week I do Sunday and Wednesday so Friday at lunch I'm not eating chicken that sat in a Tupperware for 6 days.

1) you should really look into a gym instead. 2) if a gym is not an option - I HIGHLY suggest you ditch the accessory work. Personally, I'd say buy a doorway pull-up bar, a weight vest, some sand bags, a sledgehammer, and some thick ropes. Go find a free tractor tire, and maybe a few natural stones (literally just big…

I wish it wasn't the case. Most of my friends are pretty active with hobbies (skating, snowboarding etc) my family is mostly inactive except a few of the cousins in thier 20s. I'm the only person I currently hang out with who has both active hobbies and a workout regimen. I have acquaintances that are my level or higher (a…

Read "The Iron and the Soul" by Henry Rollins. I'll paste a link it would get flagged to copy and paste the whole thing due to swearing. https://www.oldtimestrongman.com/articles/the-iron-by-henry-rollins/

Start out lighter but maybe not at the beginning, muscle nuclei never die so they should come back relatively fast. I personally took 2 years off and got fat and within 4 months I had 90% of my strength back, and within a year I had surpassed every old PR by a good margin. The 7 years I spent lifting before depression…

I'm not even THAT active, I just lift or cycle an hour a day and have hobbies like snowboarding and hiking and what not. And I work a moderate labor job.

I actually don't care for training with others for the most part. I go into the gym, put on my spotify, put my phone on do not disturb, slap the headphones on, and work through my life stresses.
