  • I'm plant based. I don't consume any animal products.
  • Just got my period after a six month lapse. Now I get to start counting to 12 all over again. 😫
  • Is this from Dr McGregor's new book? Think I heard it from the tv while I was sleeping the other night. I went plant based back in March (my diet is mainly veg, fruit, beans and grains with small amounts of nuts/seeds so probably similar to yours). I honestly wish I did it forever ago. I think I've never felt better…
  • What works for me is having my own treats. I love to have a snack at night so I keep the foods that I like and that I can moderate. For me it's fruit, good chocolate and wheat thins. And no one is allowed to touch my stash.
  • How are you measuring your food intake? Are you eating back exercise calories? How many?
  • I've never heard of her but will check out some recipes. Thanks. 🙂
  • Mmm. I'm inspired! Think I will make a creamy butternut squash soup and a loaf of crusty bread. (Now off to Google in hopes it will be only 60 degrees today 🙂)
  • Well I was a military brat growing up and then as an adult I just get an itch to move somewhere about every 3 years. I'm in beautiful Colorado now and not sure that I'll ever want to leave. 🙂
  • I'll play. I've lived in 2 countries, 11 states, 21 cities, the District of Columbia and 1 tribal land.
  • Broccoli and oatmeal. Also I've lost my taste for sweetened foods so fruit tastes so much sweeter.
  • My oats are pretty typical and have no added sugar. I add a frozen banana, handful of dried fruit and some frozen blueberries along with ground flax seeds and a lot of cinnamon. Keeps me full for hours (good bit of fiber there).
  • For me they are satiating, low in calories, cheap and nutrient rich. That makes bananas a win in my book. I eat 2-3 every day.
  • I am plant based, but really haven't eaten any animal products for a few months. Many of my meals include about 1 cup of a cooked grain (millet, quinoa, rice), a lot of different veggies, beans and a sauce. I usually keep some of these cooked in the fridge for an easy meal. There's a ton of great YouTube channels that show…
  • A water fast would tank my energy levels, not allow me to work out and make me cranky! No thanks. But your bottles of water and fruit and very pretty.
  • Being higher carb doesn't interfere with weight loss if you are in a calorie deficit.
  • Fruit Veggie straws Wheat thins Hummus with crackers or veggie Trail mix Magnum bars Chocolate Fruit topped with granola Nuts
  • My hot flashes are finally starting to subside again. This has happened before. I took the black cohosh for a while and eventually all my symptoms stopped for over a year. Of course my periods returned at that time. I'm thinking that it probably isn't the cohosh but that the symptoms are cyclical. Guess that means I might…
  • When I was strict with my calorie counting I always added in about 100 calories for tasting.
  • Every measurement that you record, whether exercise calories or food intake, is an estimation. Try to pick the best estimate and move on. If you aren't losing as much as expected after several weeks then take another look at your exercise burn and calorie intake to see if you are measuring incorrectly.
  • Took it 3 different periods of my life. I lost weight quickly cause I had no appetite. I started having fainting spells. And regained the weight each time because I didn't learn proper eating habits. Personally I would never take that drug again.
  • I've easily burned 1,000 calories hiking 6 miles. My average calorie burn is 150 calories per mile of hiking compared to about 50 calories per mile walked on flat terrain. Where you are hiking and elevation gain really do matter though. Not to mention the weight of your pack if you carry one will add to calorie burn. You…
  • I have a low cal snack most nights. I like nuts, trail mix, dark chocolate, wheat thins, fruit and popcorn. None of these are a cheat to me and i don't consider anything I eat bad. Also eating something small before bed helps me sleep better.
  • I'm still 10 pounds from goal and can agree that the fat is moving off very slowly. There's a part of me that wants to call it done. Although like you I feel satiated with the amount of calories I'm eating. Lots of patience required for this weight loss thing. 🙂

  • Geez I'm so sorry. This really might be super hard for you. When a person is super active and has to sit on their *kitten* it can be the worst punishment ever. Good luck with quick healing and getting back to the trails. 🙂
  • My anecdotal response is that my sleep has been *kitten* this week and I want to eat all zee foods! I'm taking diphenhydramine tonight and will sleep finally like a dead person. And tomorrow I won't want to eat my arm off.

  • I literally thought you got 10 woos because I didn't realize it had been removed finally. Lol.
  • I agree with the above. The main reason it seems harder when we are older is because we burn less calories throughout our day. There are some great posts here on increasing your NEAT. Maybe someone can post a link.
  • I snack and have throughout my weight loss. But I always have calories left over at the end of the day. I love crunchy stuff - crackers, puffs and chips.
  • I like daily weigh-ins because it's a mental reminder, first thing, that my health is important. And then I put that number into a weight trending app. Some people don't do so well weighing daily though.
  • Yeah I definitely recommend the diet break. Couple things to think about: 1. It's not a free for all. Still weigh and log your food. 2. You will most likely weigh more when it's over but it will just be food in the digestive track and water weight. And that should all just fall off after a few days.
