I make tea all day ... for me i weigh my day's "allowance" of sugar then ration it until it's gone. It keeps me from using 4 ounces of sugar a day... cause i literally would otherwise.

@lindamtuck2018 This is amazing news!!! Congradulations!!

Step challenge will be hard for me as im nursing a torn meniscus. I biked 20k yesterday though... so im trying to get some extra burn where i can. Anyone on here use Garmin for tracking ?

As intros seemed the norm: My name is Paul, This is my first time in any kind of challenge.. I am about to turn 36 years old. Last october i was 186.3 lbs. Time for a change. I was losing well, but I have stalled badly... largely due to a lack of self control. I eat well, but i have portion control problems. I start and…

^^ sweet. Thanks guys for having me.
-
Sorry I'm brand new and can't find a description of the baseball terms for the challenges.
-
I'd love to check it out ... i did so well end of last year and have really stalled this year.
-
^^ indeed. I started lifting 2 weeks ago but have been sick this week. I also need to design a new caloric goal.
-
Before and after photos for reference: September 2018: April 2019: It's not that i dont acknowledge my weight loss ... it's more... i thought my muscles would show through better when i lost all my surface fat.

@GiddyupTim evolutionarily, the human can run further without stopping than any other animal on earth. That is our greatest evolutionary advantage. You might enjoy watching some documentaries on aborigines who still hunt by the long-exhaustion method. This method is thousands of years old and many people's groups on…

Im down 30 and trying for 15 more. ... id love to help motivate as i JUST went through what you're going through.
-
Without more information about you to go on ... Your best bet will likely be to lose down to a super low body fat so the abs you do have will show better.
-
Dude you destroyed it! Ive definitely entered into the incremental phase of improvements, so it gives me more respect for the push you did to get there.
-
The calorie burn should ve estimated on fluctuation in heart rate. So the STEPS will be different (over estimate on arm day) ... but the caloric burn should be about right. Side note: lifting in general burns very few calories... that's not why you do it. The "afterburn" effect of a lift is very definitely accounted for by…

I have My garmin dialed in "close enough" for calories. You want one with adjustable HR zones to get maximum benefit. For reps... i just use Excel. I have my plan printed and fill it out in pen ... then whenever i have a slow minute at work i update my excel so i can see trends over time

@jaxmcn

^^ im super excited to hear how the race goes
-
@DX2JX2 ... insightful. I definitely enjoyed most of my practice runs more than the race day itself.
-
^^ @monkeefan1974 as you know you were one of the big three inspirations i had. Im not sure it was "worth it"... the race itself. The childcare, the long drive, hotel, etc. Only to not even PR and be miserably cold for hours. I get some social anxiety, so i didnt really talk to anyone else or anything. But i feel in vastly…

Yv... i hope you've overcome your obstacles as well.

I wanted to update this thread as yesterday was my race: Im not sure how to feel about it. I feel like i pushed plenty hard but the result was really poor. I did finish though, and set a decent baseline: I finished in 1:23:28. ... i wanted sub 1:20, so i felt really bad when i saw that number. But the nail in my foot…

I used to have a flower as my profile picture. Now that it is me, i basically don't get friend requests anymore. I thought my name was very masculine, but maybe it was androgynous to others.

^^ though of course I would get the excersize cals if I logged it as a Garmin Activity minus my BMR for that time frame... the analysis of which seemed too detailed for the purposes of the OP's post.
-
I'm sorry to be contrarian, @heybales ... and perhaps I misunderstand... But mfp as synched to my garmin most certainly does use the step count to adjust caloric intake. And the adjustment is based on the discrepancy between the expected activity level as set, and my actual activity level as report by Garmin. And it not…
-
^^ my withings puts me at 22%, but an in body 500 series said I was 18.5% (electrodes on each limb, little more accurate?)
-
With mfp, when you set up your account you select your activity level... and that will include your daily steps. If you use a tracker (fitbit, garmin, not sure about Samsung health) ... it will give you extra calories when your steps go ABOVE the level expected for the activity level you have yourself set at. Ie, if you…

Body fat 9% ? I'm assuming that a typo. I'm 5' 9", and decently muscular at 158 lbs and I'd guess I am 19%, not 9. ... for me, I lost 30 lbs and had strong diet exhaustion ... so I decided to take a period of eating maintenance; and focus on a different goal (I signed up for a race... never been a runner ). And eating…

I've enjoyed watching your story ... and always love your barefoot running pics. Super inspiring

Well there's a few aspects to this ... Our body is fueled on carbon. We are "carbon based life" ... we break carbon off of chains in molecules and doing so produces heat. That's the heat that keeps our insides at 98.6 degrees. Fats are long chains of H-c-H ...hydrogen is light so the "energy" in a gram of fat is high.…

He's not joking we are friends and yeah he'll knock back 4 grand in cake calories on a good Saturday
