  • Congratulations! Happy for you:-) Going beneath goal weight is awesome!
  • Every full pound down is a mini-mini goal! But I get really happy at every five or ten mark (180,175, etc), and those are what I use as official mini goals. 170 is the next one that I hope to make. Next Monday is the anticipated date to reach that one:-) ...And then I get REALLY excited when I hit 1lb under those goals.…
  • Girl! Just found your thread and blog! So inspiring! So proud of you and happy for you! Love the kitties:-). You mention loving Japanese cuisine-Do you watch "Trails to Tskiji/Oishi" or "Journeys in Japan"? I am such a fan of both of these, but have most likely butchered the spelling. What a wonderful journey you have…
  • I am in zone 7B and just found this thread! You guys are awesome! I had started a few beds end of 2019/start of 2020, but have been unable to follow through, so they are a MESS! You guys have some super info on here that I hope to be able to use fall or maybe 2022. Meanwhile, I have been able to do a little bit of weeding…
  • Speaking as someone officially disabled with diagnosed Myasthenia Gravis, along with a few other auto-immune issues- believe me, I feel for anyone who is unable/or having difficulty with mobility. Moving, breathing, eating at all and without choking, even just being able to sit up has been difficult over the past year, to…
  • You have made the first step! Best wishes on our journeys!
  • Thank you for sharing! I look forward to your updates:-)
  • Here is a slightly different view of things assuming that all of your measurements of CICO are correct: First- It is possible for your body to need a period of 'rest' to play 'catch up' and see the resulting loss later (as long as six weeks later is not unheard of). This is part of the reason for not using the scale alone…
  • WOW! You long timers are awesome! I have been patting myself on the back for doing 40 days that I have just about knocked myself over!!! LOL One day at a time and I will get there, too!
  • Sigh. Another 'apple' here. The tape measure has moved only enough for me to notice (lost 1inch waist, 2 inch tummy)and I am hoping to see better shrinkage with more pounds lost. So far, Have lost about 10 pounds since my first measurement 40 days ago. For some reason, I thought I would lose a whole dress size by now. But,…
  • Please! Soapbox warning:Ageism has been a pet peeve for me since before I hit my teen years. Aging is inevitable and we are growing older by the minute. We were also all younger yesterday, too. I, for one, am quite thrilled to see that more of us are taking care to be active and fit into our 'sunset' years. Men get…
  • Proud of you and happy for you!
  • Going down this path myself, so I can only share my experience to date.I set my carbs, fat, and protein to 30%, 35%, and 35%. It took a little bit of self education about nutrition and reading labels (or don't buy foods with labels!) Check online for a list of low glycemic load carbs and try to choose from the low end. In…
  • -That it bothers me to think how much time I 'wasted' not getting started. -That my competitive spirit comes out more and that I WANT to talk about how to be healthier with others. -That eating 'enough' is sometimes an issue. Enough protein (100g+) is sometimes too hard to do. -That I 'pat my tummy' when buckled in car to…
  • @MadlynCarr -I feel you. Congratulations for being ready to do something! You have made the first step! First: arthritis needs exercise. To help us hurt less, move more. Even a tiny bit of exercise can be our start. Due to medical issue, I start with 600 steps as a goal. I know this is pitiful, but I am happy to be able to…
  • Just amazing! So proud of your determination. You are helping yourself and others! I imagine your father would be/is very proud of you:-).
  • Awesome! You are making excellent progress and should be very proud of what you have/are accomplishing for your health! Inspiring!
  • Very proud of you!! ANY weight loss is worth celebrating when one is overweight. For me, the first and last ten have always been the hardest-so maybe they are worth celebrating more:-). I have 'only' lost six now, but I am proud of myself for getting started and staying on track (losing about a pound a week). You have done…
  • And I'm ba-a-ck :) ! Health has been issue (MG), but slowly beginning to feel like doing more. Was doing great with weight last year 'before' by watching 3 things-SUGAR (no added), WATER (8-12 glasses daily), PROTEIN (70g-100g). The only way I know to watch those sugar grams is to cook real food. Have been doing this again…
  • Nayghtymuffin-I find as I 'gain more experience in life' that 'perfect' is overrated! "Imperfection" is where the beauty lies:-). Have a super weekend, everybody!!!
  • Will be 60 in September. This is going to be my year! Find that eating cleaner and dropping sodas 'cold turkey' gives me almost no cravings! If I do have a sweet craving, I drink a protein shake. I think this is proving (to me) that sugar and processed foods are addictive--the more you eat of them, the more you want!…
  • 17 g protein breakfast- avocado toast, 2 slices. Could bump up with added veggies and nuts, or yogurt.
  • Not quite 60, but will be this year! Have a good start so far with eating better and drinking water. Working up to adding exercise-slow and low, due to Myasthenia Gravis. Learning to listen to my body and what I need is a trip (roller coaster). Always an 'All In' sort, I am taking things at a gentler pace now, but finding…
  • Back again. I am a 'snowflake'-ie. I have Myasthenia Gravis. Last time on MFP, I started during bad flare/pre-crisis in Aug/Sep 2019. Did well-but it is easy when you can't chew or swallow or fix your meals!:-) LOL Have been stable pretty much since End of Sept and trying to get healthier- eating lean and clean. Will add…
  • Hi there! I am a 'snowflake', too! Dx last November and this summer was a hard time-pre-crises, no intubation. But have been improving since starting CellCept. Took about 6 months plus to notice real difference, but have had about 6 weeks at a time where I am close to stable. Mestinon-180 time release and prednisone 2…
  • GOt it! Age changes many things- some for the better! "Weight" is not one of the things changed for the better for me! But working it! Starting with intake. Will work on exercise when I am able:-)
  • I feel ya! Fifty lbs would be awesome. I am making mini-goals to help me drop. Haven't weighed so I don't know yet how much/if I have lost during this time. Starting third week! Have done pretty well with caloric intake. as far as exercise, I am battling MG (Myasthenia Gravis) and trying to get it stable. Exercise at this…
  • Hi, gscruiser! I have MG and use one intermittently. I cannot exercise yet (condition not stabilized: exercise brings on flares). But I CAN watch my calorie intake and macro/micro nutrients! I believe that there is much we can do to improve our life-and that improving our health is a great start! I have done pretty well…
