• I understand. I tend to 'borrow' motivation from others, which can be great when we are all supportive of each other and semi-competing. But conversely, it is also easy for others to derail me if they quit or if their comments are negative. Coming to the realization that either way I am cheating myself by making others…
• Steel cut oats instructions say to cook a lot longer than regular rolled oatmeal, but I don't cook according to directions. I cook according to my taste and the texture. To cut prep time, I use boiling water from my kettle and add oats. Leave on high to boil about five minutes, turn off heat but leave pot on burner. Then I…
• Since having any type of illness is a motivator for changing lifestyles and ways of eating, we are already making changes in our diet! Hoorah! It may be easier than you think to begin changing your palate, too. Introduce new foods one at a time. Try to make a goal of 'eating the rainbow' over the course of a week to start,…
• Even the 'experts'-neurologists, nutritionists, medical doctors, researchers of addictions/addictive behaviors-are in conflict as to whether the term 'addiction' should be used with out-of-control behavior when consuming simple sugars. But, from what I have read/heard, they all recognize that the same craving and reward…
• Impressive drop! Well done😉
• You can do it! I can't exercise either and have lost about 21lbs since Feb 22. 25 more to go😉. Best wishes!
• YeS. Hypothyroid and MG. Almost 21lbs lost since Feb this year and almost 30 total loss. About 25 to go. Accurate tracking and less processed/sugared foods has been key for me. You can do it, too!
• Also be aware that sizes and nutritional content varies between countries for some items, same name, same brand, same serving size.
•
Thank you!! :) Good idea but swimming is exhausting! :# I also don't have a swimsuit that fits anymore and trying to find one I'm comfortable with feels emotionally exhausting. Ugh :/
You have already taken the first step😉. My suggestion is to do baby steps. Log what you normally eat- for real! Then eat…

• @MargaretYakoda Personal experience: It seemed like my skin turned crepey overnight! Using adapalene (closest precursor to tretinoic acid) followed by emoillent rich lotion worked wonders! Specific brands I use: Differin and Aveeno Eczema. Total cost: under $50. Differin lasts about 2 months (and i use on face, neck,…
• Question-why are there "disagree"s selected on these posts? How can you disagree with a photo?
• My daughter and grand are in process of moving out. This has made a huge difference in the stuff, clutter, and space here😉. A life change always seems to make it easier to designate things that I do not want or need. FYI We had been decluttering on a regular basis before their move. I have downsized from 4200sqft to 3600…
• Some of my journals I keep, some I toss. I make the decision based on content. Most of the ones I keep have cute stories about my children as they grew, but a few have interesting to me observations. For example, during a period of my life when my memory says I had it all together, there were posts proving otherwise. To…
• Bàck to original question: Government HAS made attempts to fix our obesity issues multiple times in my lifetime. They have had Presidents physical fitness stuff with certificates for participating, and Surgeon General's guidelines and PSAs, and how many times have we had a food pyramid? Oh, yeah..how about those food…
• You are doing a fantastic job! You are beautiful in each photo😊. You are not alone in dealing with body dysmorphia. I thought I was dumpy but ok looking at 123lbs 5-5. Saw the same me in the mirror at 163 and still looked same to me at 190. I am back to almost 160. While I know I have to look better than at 190, the image…
• 1) 2 lbs to get into 150s (by or before mid August) 2) Make or break 155 by birthday. 3) Maintain in 150s or less through end of year. Will wait til closer to end of year to see what 2022 goals will be😙.
• Artificial sweeteners make me hungrier than i feel i should be. For me, real stuff in small amounts works best. I try to get most of my sweet fix via fruits, veg, nuts, but sometimes real chocolate, ice cream, etc.
• In addition to other things mentioned- Lentils. Can be added to so many savory things, and they help thicken soups and stews. Walnuts and almonds. Seem expensive, but high in nutrition, so a few can be satisfying. Potatoes! Sweet, white-all are cheap, nutritious, and satisfying. Chips, planks, crusts, cookies, pasta...!…
• Have you also increased your fluid intake? FYI: in oatmeal stone ground is my favorite way. But , if you just sprinkle a little bit on your savory foods over the course of a day, you won't even notice it! If you do notice it, you sprinkled too much! 1Tbsp can be divided up into a lot of sprinkles. Sprinkle from high up or…
• You have lots of good info here😉. For me, realizing this way of eating is my new lifestyle rather than a short term fix helped me not sweat the small stuff. There will be days i am over. There will be days i am under. It is what i choose the majority of the days that is important.
• I started work at 6 and just could not eat before then. Most days, it did not prove to be a problem as i was doung IF before it became a thing. A cup of coffee or other drink was usually enough. However, keeping a bag of nuts- almonds or walnuts-and/or a protein shake, or apple with natural PB was a real lifesaver on days…
• Remedy kombuchas! Kombucha can have trace alcohol, but i have never noticed any. Remedy is very low in sugar and calories, but it is hard to find here, so i have been getting HealthAde pomegranate lately. It has more sugar than i want, but dtill doable at around 16g per bottle when i want a treat. I want a low cal, low…
• Èveryone looks fabulous! I think i have noticed some change after 27lbs, but it may take me a bit to post pics...I hate having my photo made! Getting older isn't helping my confidence any either😂. But losing weight is helping!
• Congratulaions! 40lbs down is great! ---And i understand not wanting to take photos when we are overweight. But! From an unbiased grandmother, you are a handsome fellow and probably always have been. We are always hardest on ourselves. You are doing great! Wishes for continued success.
• Ditto other posts. And-it sucks all by itself, not being able to be as active as you used to be. Adding on that you were a real live athlete must add that much more self pressure. So sorry to hear that physical pain is also involved. I was never an athlete, but i understand the immediate change in activity and pain. I am…
• This is super! I've been impressed with your posts and your progress. You look great! I hope to be where you are by this time next year. Thanks for sharing!
• Made that goal and now .4lbs lower than my heaviest weight before children. 2.7 lbs to break into 150s! Plan is to hit 150 in September, but one mini goal at a time keeps me more mentally balanced than aiming for big bites! Down 27.4lbs since starting MFP.
• I love chinese food! It certainly looks healthy and tastes great! BUT-be aware that a lot of the asian cuisines add sugar to balance the salty flavors of soy and/or fish sauce, so looks are deceptive. If sugar is a trigger food for you, be careful. Restaurants that use MSG are a no-no for me, because it increases my…
• @Daled2020 Welcome! MFP has helped me a lot! Tracking calories and macros helps make this interesting for me. I hope you enjoy it, too! @sally_macleod Yay! Sounds like we are on same wavelength. I quit sodas, limited processed foods, very few to zero added sugars, increased proteins, greens, water, and fiber. Havent been…
