  • I started work at 6 and just could not eat before then. Most days, it did not prove to be a problem as i was doung IF before it became a thing. A cup of coffee or other drink was usually enough. However, keeping a bag of nuts- almonds or walnuts-and/or a protein shake, or apple with natural PB was a real lifesaver on days…
  • Remedy kombuchas! Kombucha can have trace alcohol, but i have never noticed any. Remedy is very low in sugar and calories, but it is hard to find here, so i have been getting HealthAde pomegranate lately. It has more sugar than i want, but dtill doable at around 16g per bottle when i want a treat. I want a low cal, low…
  • Èveryone looks fabulous! I think i have noticed some change after 27lbs, but it may take me a bit to post pics...I hate having my photo made! Getting older isn't helping my confidence any either😂. But losing weight is helping!
  • Congratulaions! 40lbs down is great! ---And i understand not wanting to take photos when we are overweight. But! From an unbiased grandmother, you are a handsome fellow and probably always have been. We are always hardest on ourselves. You are doing great! Wishes for continued success.
  • Ditto other posts. And-it sucks all by itself, not being able to be as active as you used to be. Adding on that you were a real live athlete must add that much more self pressure. So sorry to hear that physical pain is also involved. I was never an athlete, but i understand the immediate change in activity and pain. I am…
  • This is super! I've been impressed with your posts and your progress. You look great! I hope to be where you are by this time next year. Thanks for sharing!
  • Made that goal and now .4lbs lower than my heaviest weight before children. 2.7 lbs to break into 150s! Plan is to hit 150 in September, but one mini goal at a time keeps me more mentally balanced than aiming for big bites! Down 27.4lbs since starting MFP.
  • I love chinese food! It certainly looks healthy and tastes great! BUT-be aware that a lot of the asian cuisines add sugar to balance the salty flavors of soy and/or fish sauce, so looks are deceptive. If sugar is a trigger food for you, be careful. Restaurants that use MSG are a no-no for me, because it increases my…
  • @Daled2020 Welcome! MFP has helped me a lot! Tracking calories and macros helps make this interesting for me. I hope you enjoy it, too! @sally_macleod Yay! Sounds like we are on same wavelength. I quit sodas, limited processed foods, very few to zero added sugars, increased proteins, greens, water, and fiber. Havent been…
  • Super job! Be proud of the work you have done.
  • Dropping soda seems to be a key for me, too!
  • Having trouble doing edit, so adding post on triglycerides: So excited by sugar drop, that i almost forgot you had asked about triglycerides in OP! These are normal now per doc, although i do not have counts to share. I will get these numbers at next lab. But it seems there is much scientific evidence that sugar and…
  • @cnjg6677 How are things going? Hope things are becoming easier for you guys! Just an FYI- had my bloodwork redone last month and my A1c has dropped from a high of 6.8 to 5.7 this year. Most of the drop happened following what I outlined earlier. I am now at high range of normal for the first time in years. Trying…
  • FYI I eat a range of 1500 to 1800 cal per day with sedentary lifestyle, 165lb 60yr female 5'x5". Current standards for women to be able to sustain our eating patterns are to consume no fewer than 1500 cal per day. You can use internet search to see how many different medical journals/sites make this recommendation.…

  • I am so proud of you and I hope you give yourself daily pats on the back❤ for your progress!
  • Congrats! You're looking great!
  • Sadly, I never did figure out how to motivate my "other". He always blamed me for any issues. But! My daughter takes notice when i declutter my things and i notice her doing that soon after. Sometimes it is helpful just to be an example to others😊. Many of you are setting good examples for me-in weight loss, decluttering,…
  • I have posted a few things on Marketplace and Postmark. So far, I am less than thrilled with response, but it has been less than 3 weeks, so still giving it a little time. I only kept the best stuff-designer names-to sell, and took other stuff to donate. The plan is to donate the "sell" items if they haven't sold in 4…
  • Excellent progress!
  • Just got lab results back. Among other tests, we checked A1c levels. They are 5.6, a very significant drop from my previous best of 6.3. Today is day 122 of no sodas and watching added sugars. Total sugar daily goal is 50g. Not always perfect, but this is progress I can do and see! Yay!
  • Wow! You have gotten a plethora of good info. How lucky we are to belong with such a supportive group👍. I am glad you are here, and a 25lb loss is a super start! We have got this...one step at a time😉
  • So many possibilities here-for you and DH-that a counselor is a good bet. But first, perhaps a full medical checkup mighr be a start. Consider that there may also be medical reasons for the roommate situation. Overweight creates some of them and some of them cause overweight. Also, 6 months ago our world was going crazy.…
  • My experience: learning to distinguish between 'being alone ' and 'being lonely' took me awhile. I flip flop between being shy and being gregarious, so when i am in my outgoing phase, feeling lonely is truly terrible. On worst days, I just try to sleep it away, hoping to find what I need in my dreams. Other times, I try to…
  • Check with your physician first before starting a diet, but if you have no medical issues, you can start making healthier choices right away! Nutrisystem works for lots of folks, but you still have to add your own veg. Learning how to make good choices is key to making a life change permanent. My vote would be for…
  • My two cents: people react to carbs differently- some will see their sugar rise quickly after eating white rice, while some will not experience a drastic change. I use the GI list to help me when choosing foods that I will eat often or in volume. Basically, grandma's advice of 'Eat your greens!' Is a really good start 😉.
  • Your arms look fine proportionally and period! BTW, I am a professional artist - almost 40 years- and I do lots of commissions for portraits. My 'professional' opinion: you suffer from the same thing most people do-being too critical of ourselves. You look fine. Body shaping with weights might help you appreciate your body…
  • This is terrific! How inspiring❤
  • I love finding out about new produce! Have to add feijoa to my bucket list!
  • Lunch today was 3 cups+ of steamed Brussels sprouts with a little added salt and butter. A few Triscuits and i was a happy camper! Grand was ok, as he likes sprouts. Daughter ...not so happy. Dinner planned is brat and roasted Vidalia onion on half bun toasted. Fresh okra roasted with smattering of grated parm for side.…
  • Congrats!
