  • Way to go!
  • MG kicked my butt in 2020. My health and 'no life' was out of control. As I began doing a little better, I thought that my nutrition was one thing I could control. Having this one thing is important to me. I have lost 13.8 lbs since Feb and am only about 16 lbs from goal. This week i have multiple doctor appointments and…
  • Speaking as someone with body dysmorphia---excellent idea! I use tape measure to help me (lost to date almost 25 lbs and can't see change in mirror🤐). But photos being "one step removed" should help me see it!---Plus, kèping visual record of journey! Thanks for the timely input👍.
  • Tape measured yesterday. Over 2 inches down in waist! Officially smaller than my hips again.
  • @LiLeeMac We are a close match if you would like a new friend:-). I am 60 yo F 5'-5" SW 190 2020 and 174 2021 CW 167 1st GW 150 2nd GW 140 3rd GW 130 I have some mini goals between these GW--like every five pounds down! Divorced, 2 adult children, 1 grandchild. Conservative Christian Republican---and want to be stronger…
  • At 5'-5", my lowest adult weight was 124. Some thought I was losing too much, but I looked to me like I could still drop 5-10 pounds. Looking back at my photos with years between that time and now, I can see where I was as low as I could go. I look a little too thin. I felt good--and I was young. Youth and being busy cover…
  • @alteredsteve175 Prayers for you and Kathy and her medical team.
  • I am so proud of each one of you! You are making a decision that will not only change your life for the better overall, but you have also taken the first step towards making a HUGE positive change in the lives of those who love you-family, friends-and co-workers/boss! <3 Step by step, y'all:-).
  • Great work done!
  • @Whidislander Love the profile pic! Hilda was one of the 'pin ups' of my grandfather. He said they reminded him of my grandmother- plump, a little ditzy, and game for life! Sorry to hear of issues with heath-loved ones, pets, and self. Hugs to all! I have done a total fast since 930PM 5/17. Will see if I choose to eat…
  • That body dysmorphia doesn't disappear with the weight. I know I get bloated, but I am wearing a few sizes smaller than when I started and I still look the same to me. I use scales, clothes, and tape measure to reaffirm that I am making progress, but I really want to see it for myself!
  • So cute!
  • Hi there. I have Myasthenia gravis -among other things- and have very limited mobility (due to the limited energy and the limited time I can expend it). Both dysautomia and gastroparesis are part of MG. I am at stage IV and it is unremmitant for the past year now. I gained weight after children (due to love of food and too…
  • It is wonderful that you are doing well in lowering your numbers:-). Did you mean to say 'low carb'? I am interested because "high carbs" equal high sugar intake unless the carbs are primarily ones with very low glycemic load- like green leafy veg. As this is something I am working on, too, I am interested. -And I think…
  • I have wondered about the 'disagree' on similar posts! LOL
  • I agree with @Lietchi. May I suggest two additional things? Here, we are having another pollen cycle and mild allergies can make us feel a little foggy, too. Maybe take the week off of the extra exercise to give your body a chance to recover a bit and to see if outside things besides diet and exercise might be trying to…
  • No need for apologies:-). We have all been frustrated at a time or two on this journey. FYI: psyillium husk is a sticky fiber, so some choose to add into water. I find it makes a gelatinous mess that way,so I sprinkle on foods or eat small quantities at a time dry. Look for one without any additives-100% husk. Konsyl brand…
  • LOL OP I understand completely re: hungry looking up foods and counts! I was 'asked to leave' WW many moons ago because I kept gaining weight. I was always hungry and the amount of focus on food was just making me worse! Arrgh! Eventually I learned the difference in 'mouth hungry' and real hunger, and that has been a huge…
  • Have you set your daily calorie goal and other macros? At 4 cal per gram, 40 grams of carbs would be 160 of your daily calories. Protein and carbohydrates are both calculated at 4 cal per gram. 1 Fat gram equals 9 cal. Check that your percentages add up to 100% of your calorie goal. If this isn't helpful, MFP has a support…
  • My family finds we do better when limiting our gluten containing foods, too. Some of the 'more substanial' veg, like sweet potatoes and wild rice, can help with the satisfaction factor. Cauliflower and winter squash are also good. For example: spaghetti squash does not taste like spaghetti, but it adds that 'oomph' to the…
  • Just something to consider: maybe add protein drink to help meet your minimum requirement. Protein is pretty close to equally important as CICO while dieting, IMHO. I have days where I have difficulty getting enough protein in. I aim for 130g per day at 5'-5" ~170lb 60yo female sedentary. It doesn't seem to matter if my…
  • @Maggiegirl135 and @AnnPT77 LOL I will try the recipe from The Joy of Cooking and keep you both posted  . BTW: I have heard of a restaurant 'up north' whose entire menu is only split pea soup-different mix-ins and toppings- so there has to be a version out there that I will like!
  • I like almost every food! Yep-includes brussels sprouts, uni, poke, anchovies, etc. It is the way in which they are prepared that makes a food 'unlikable' to me. So for example, green beans roasted with sesame oil/seeds and soy sauce or aminos are yummy, but boiled---not so much! Sweet peas are awesome raw or…
  • Less than 1lb away from matching lowest weight since children! Plan is to match that number on or before 5/13/2021!
  • First-Congrats on the weight you HAVE kept off! 40lbs is a big deal:-). Concentrate on that accomplishment when you begin feeling low. And Welcome-for your return to MFP! Now-for the rest of the weight you wish to lose: I am an 'all or nothing' gal by nature. I work hard at the task, reach the goal, and then move on to…
  • @jolecr We are close in age:-). Looking at your posts, I wonder if you have enough variety to keep your food intake interesting enough for you. Sometimes-especially as we get older, 'food boredom' equals appetite loss. Eating foods, rather than drinking them, provide us with some nutritional benefits we cannot get from…
  • @amberrea82 Congratulations! Billie is beautiful:-) You have managed 3 pretty remarkable feats -Motherhood, losing 54 lbs, and stopping smoking are all life-changers for the better! Looking forward to hearing about your continued successes:-).
  • So much good input on this thread! I have found most of the MFP group to be well-informed and very willing to share:-) There are so many ideas on eating trends, that I will share some of what is working for me and may be usable regardless of which 'plan' you choose to follow: Education first:-). Then implementation. I am…
  • Bravo! @penguinmama87 While I know I should 'keep my trap shut', I still struggle with actually doing it! LOL After all, I am open to things that might change my point of view, how can others not be?! But alas...too many still see a changed opinion as a lack of intelligence rather than as a sign of growth.
  • Anytime you feel judged for your passion for food, just remember those folks who have become legend because of their passion for food. That happened solely because so many of us share that same passion! Everyone doesn't, though. I know some folks who go out of their way to try new and/or different restaurants/cafes who are…
