Highly stressful day and I ate my way through it. Gggrrrrrr 😞😭

If you have your deficit set to lose one pound per week, you still ate at a deficit today! And even if you ate at maintenance or above, it's the trends that matter for weight loss. One day is just a day. Regardless of what already happened today, you can still stick to your deficit tomorrow.9

That’s more than okay! Life happens! There will be days where you’re over and days where you’re under. What’s your rate of loss? If you’re aiming to lose 1lb a week, 300 calories is still under maintenance. I’ve lost 80lbs over the last 6 months, there have been many days that I have eaten over, and some days that I’ve eaten WAY over (talking like 1,000+ calories over). The scale may reflect it for a few days but it doesn’t really impact my progress.4

You're doing fine.
Not to say this is a license to go over every day ( ) but IME, going (a bit) over plan once in a while seems to make the weight come off more easily when I get back on plan. Might be physical, might be mental in that I find it easier to be on plan after a little "overage." Either way, it's the big picture that counts.
So, hopefully you'll find the encouragement you need here to not throw up your hands, but rather get back at it tomorrow.5 -

I still lost last week. One offs rarely matter much. What you do most of the time does.4 -
We’ve all done it, and we’re lying if we say we haven’t.
I’m 1200 over today because of a nice anniversary lunch. It’ll all be gone in a couple of days.
One day is not going to ruin anything.
It’s beating yourself up over it, and then allowing it to sneak up again and again that does.
Look at what caused it and how you reacted. How can you be better next time? Can you have a plan in place that if X happens, Y behavior kicks in to calm the waters?6 -
Don’t stress. I really want to meet my weekly goal. I’m usually way over one or two days a week, and way under one or two days. Have been losing 3-4 pounds a month since Jan. 1.5

Really, you're fine. You need to live a little sometimes.
Every weekend I indulge in a pint of Ben and Jerry's peanut butter cup ice cream, to the tune of 1470 calories. I might eat only veggies and fruits that day but I know I'm still over. The worst thing you can do is get stressed or feel guilt over it.

good point! i was feeling the guilt because i already know today's gonna be an "over" day. I'm just tired and don't feel like working out. however, I'm usually very consistent, and i think I'll be more motivated to work harder tomorrow if i just give it a rest today.5 -

For me, realizing this way of eating is my new lifestyle rather than a short term fix helped me not sweat the small stuff. There will be days i am over. There will be days i am under. It is what i choose the majority of the days that is important.0 -
Simple maths and averages. Skipping a meal can’t make somebody skinny, and going all out at the buffet once won’t make somebody fat.
So long as you are trending in the right direction, it will all be good. I’d not obsess on a per meal or even per day average, so long as you are winning on the weekly average.1
