  • Something to think about....i used to work for Tanita who make body fat monitors and their professional (and high end personal machines) had what they called 'athlete mode' for people who have more dense muscle tissue as the dense muscle creates a resistance to the bio-impedance in the same way fat does. This doesn't apply…
  • Am just using a body fat monitor (that calculates using bio-impedance)...so yep, quite possible its not accurate. But I figure as long as i continue to use the same measure method, at least i can trust the incline/decline trend, no? Yep, am taking pictures too..but cant believe I didn't think to take measurements!! Will…
  • One thing I have found which has astounded me is the stronger i get, the less pain i feel. My pain was always in the following areas (highest pain area first): Core, knees, ankles, fingers. Since ditching the cardio for pure weight/resistance training the pain in my core has massively reduced...like HUGELY reduced. I still…
  • Thanks for the tips. I hear a lot about overnight oats...maybe this is the push I need to give them a go! I hear you on the morning walking...i refer to it as the evolution of man for me.....i start pretty hunched and eventually get to standing straight up :-)
  • Ha...i hate creating usernames! Im going to grab some shake ingredients this weekend and give it a go on Monday. Sometimes the energy levels are OK during the workout but i crash mid-morning....and sometimes i struggle in the gym...its a bit up and down. Thanks for the tips and good luck with your training....Its inspiring…
  • Thanks! Totally agree that the gym is the 1 place where my mind is clear and just focused on the movement. I really miss it on rest days. I overheard someone in the gym say this the other day: "If the bar isn't bending, you're just pretending"....made me laugh.... Good Luck to you too!
  • Thanks again everyone. To answer the question re: schedule. I've been in and out of the gym most of my adult life...I've picked it up and put it down during periods of needing to shift some weight, so my focus when exercising has always been weight loss. Its been an emotional thing blah blah blah...anyhoo...now im in a…
  • Thanks everyone, you can tell I'm new to this :-) Yep have to work out in the morning, its the only time that works for my schedule. I've always seen protein shakes as a something for people with more muscle...but ill give it a go. This is an intense learning curve...appreciate all the advice, thanks!
  • Thanks! Ive never eaten before training....how long after eating do you feel ready for training? Im up at 5.45 and in the gym for 6.45-7 depending on traffic. Do you think 30-45 minutes is enough so i dont throw up? :-)
  • Ive been thinking about smaller portions of my lunches and/or dinners, good call. Thanks!
  • Thanks! I keep my eyes out but they seem so high in sugar. Although in loving the bounce balls 😍
