  • Are you a mail carrier? If you normally walk a lot for work, 1330 is way too low of a calorie goal. And I don't get how you are supposedly not hungry, eat salad and slimfast, and walk a ton, and you need MFP to lose weight? Something doesn't quite make sense.
  • I don't do low carb. I've lost 20+ lbs with cardio (mostly walking) and 300-400/day calorie deficit.. which a lot of people here will tell you is impossible ;)
  • Hi, I see that this a month and a half old, but I wanted to commiserate with you - I was just at the doctor today with chest pain while exercising and they did an EKG and said there was nothing to worry about on there, normal except for PVC's. I'd been having the feeling of skipped heartbeats for months and convinced…
  • Thank you for the reply and for sharing your experience!!
  • If you'd read my whole post instead of just skimming it you'd see that I'm already doing intervals - the post was purely to see how long it took different people to improve.
  • I agree, it seems really basic that MFP should have slower speeds listed for jogging. Esp with sll the beginner runners here.
  • Huge hugs to you - how scary. Please don't feel bad. I can totally sympathize with your feelings. I hurt myself recently, and the FIRST DAY that I took off from exercise, I felt awful. Looking in the mirror, I felt fat and ugly, even though just the day before I had looked in the mirror and been proud of the progress I…
  • I just read a really interesting study linking high fructose corn syrup with growth of colon tumors - focused on HFCS, not sugar, but still food for thought! My brother died of colon cancer at a relatively young age so I read all I can about it. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/03/190321141924.htm
  • I'm kind of surprised you don't like Brooks Adrenaline! I used to be an Asics girl but their toe boxes have gotten so narrow over the past few years. Brooks Adrenaline GTS is very comfy, but not as much of a 'stability' shoe as is claimed. I'd say it's pretty neutral. I have flat, wide feet and LOVE Brooks Ravenna 9. I…
  • Hi! I am also a slow runner. Two things are helping me improve my distance and speed - 1. When I'm trying to improve my speed, I do intervals, like you mentioned, only I believe you're running too fast. For example, when I first started running, I could not even jog at 4mph for ONE MINUTE before I got out of breath! Now,…
  • Congrats, you look awesome!!!! Keep it up!
  • This post is a month old now, but I wanted to update! (I am the original poster but it wouldn't let me update my post.) I followed everyone's (very good!) advice and slowed down! To do this I had to switch to the treadmill. I've been doing interval run/walks (jogging/walks really) every other day, and just walking on the…
  • Thank you guys so much for the very kind and helpful responses. I will take a few days off then try again much slower. :)
