I also suffer from chronic knee pain. The result of a car accident many moons ago. I can't run at all, or do the elliptical. But I can walk. I don't, but I could, lol! As giancarlov ^ said, you're going to have to start keeping track of your food. I'm losing weight slowly but surely just by cutting 250 calories a day (half…

I hate them. Too sugary for me.

I find that intermittent fasting, with some modifications, works best for me. My modifications are that I have creamer with my coffee in the morning, and I don't have an exact eating window. I have a protein bar around 4:00 pm, dinner around 6:00 or 7:00, and a treat later, anywhere from 10:00 to midnight. I find it's an…

What's your nationality, you little globe-hopper?

You've got plenty of time to turn it around, and the best time to start is right now. You got this!

Brussels sprouts, tofu, cooked cabbage, mushrooms.

Jet Alert. 200 mg of caffeine per tablet, and they claim zero calories. $1.24 at Wal-Mart. Just don't pull a Jessie Spano. ;)

You only need to worry about the type of sugar if you've got a medical condition that requires you to limit it. For example, I have gout and need to watch my fructose intake. And the sugar in a banana is about half fructose. I still have bananas, just have to make sure I don't have too many. As long as you're not diabetic…

TFS! I'd forgotten about the waist-hip ratio thing, and my BMI is showing obese, even though I know I'm just overweight. Seriously, I'm 5'1" and a size 10. I'm fat, yes, but not obese. :D

I can't recall one for me, but I do recall my husband telling me he drinks his coffee with half-and-half, because it's only 15 calories per 2 tbsp. serving. I was like, On what planet? That's 40 calories. He's been drinking 8 tbsp. per day, thinking it was only 60 calories, turns out he was drinking 160 calories. Not huge,…

If it were me, my stomach would rupture, and I'd be hospitalized, possibly dead.

Weird. I never thought about it, but I'm pretty much the same. It's not anything I've been doing consciously, but I break my fast at 4:00 pm, and I never drink anything between my morning coffee and that time.

Diet Coke is life. They just started making an orange vanilla flavor that tastes just like a Creamsicle. It's like a zero calorie dessert in a can.

Danp is pretty much correct in what he's saying. I just wanted to add that you could use a free walking app, like Map My Walk or Endomondo to get an estimated calorie burn for your walks. These are free to download and try out, although they also have an option to upgrade for more bells and whistles. I'm a cheapskate, so I…

I won't get involved in the argument, here. I will only say that it helps me eat less, which helps me lose weight. I don't believe there are any benefits beyond that. It's just easier for me to not overeat when I eat my day's food in a 6-7 hour window. I don't even do "true" IF, because I have coffee with creamer every…

^ This. I thought my perfect weight would be 125#, because I loved how I looked in pictures when I weighed 125#, but then I thought about things. I had ZERO muscle then. I didn't really like how I looked back then. My tummy was smaller, but it was still flabby and I still sucked it in for pictures. So, I don't really know…

Ann - I'm one of those people who use MFP for the calorie logging. I don't go from their numbers, because I just don't trust them. I use a TDEE calculator to figure out my TDEE before working out and go from there. Because my amount of exercise varies quite a bit from week to week. Because I'm a freak. :D I must be a…

You could help yourself, but you replaced it and no one was ticked off, so as long as it fits your daily calorie goal, I hope you enjoyed it. I love those things, but they're forbidden to me since I've had to watch my sugar intake for a medical condition. I have to eat the mini eggs and then work out to burn off the sugar.…

It's still an option. You can order a Wendy's Apple Pecan salad with grilled chicken (full size) for 570 calories, 440 calories without the pecans.

Just wait a couple years and see what your body can do on its own. You can look into surgery if things don't improve to your liking after a couple years, but I wouldn't rush into it before you know how much your body can heal the skin on its own.

I've had two, and it was pure hell for me to not do *something*, but they're all correct. ^ You've just had major surgery, and you need your doctor's clearance to do any exercise. You've just had your uterus cut open and you need to make sure everything's healed, even before you start doing something as simple as walking…

It's definitely do-able!

It depends on you and how you're trying to lose. I think MFP's calorie recommendations are off for me, so I've figured out my calorie needs before exercise using the Mifflin-St. Jeor formula and am trying to eat 3500 fewer calories for one pound loss per week. I like to exercise, but I don't like to depend on it for any…

If I'm looking to solve a problem and something works for someone else, I think it's worth at least looking at and assessing whether it's for me. It usually isn't, but I might be able to use that idea to work out something that is for me. I have no problem with others telling what's worked for them, especially if it's…

The way I look at any sort of fasting, and this is solely my opinion: I don't care about the supposed benefits, only how it benefits me. I don't care if it's going to help my body renew cells faster or how I'm "supposed" to do it. I have used IF in the past, sort of. (A girl needs creamer in her coffee. To me, black coffee…

Some people do it and say it really helps them lose. Some people (like my MIL) do it but don't use the information they get from it to do anything (like being more active or adjusting their eating to their energy output), so it's just a piece of jewelry they wear while they gain weight. Some people are like me and don't…

I've started trying 5:2 lately, but I'm not sure I'll be successful at doing it according to the "rules". From what I understand I can only consume 25% of my TDEE before exercise, and it just seems too restrictive. I'm on a "fast" day today and hubby planned chicken alfredo for dinner, so I think I'm going to try keeping…
