  • Hi OP. I am going to come at this from a different angle - when you think about your 'cheat' meal, what is it you think you will have ? It might help you understand what tweaks will help you on a day to day basis. I am in light ketosis (I eat about 65g net carbs) and I found it a bit difficult until I understood what I was…
  • I don't get out much on the diet front *sniffles* so when I do eat out, I enjoy it. 800 calories over looks quite contained to me :) log it and move on and dont look back. No crime was committed.
  • Wow - thats brutal dude.
  • Ooh beetroot is the bomb ! And can go really well with all sorts of food. Yum !
  • Nice work on not ignoring it until the problem got bigger OP ! I too am on the low end of pre-diabetes. I cap my (net) carbs at around 65g if I am exercising (an awful lot of walking) and aim to keep my total sugar under 20g. I've got these targets to be in light ketosis and get the chub off and anticipate putting carbs up…
  • Have there been any indicators that you may have or are heading towards, issues with insulin management ? If all okay on that front and you are low risk, as above, regarding nutrition and satiety, you would probably feel better for some changes.
  • I do love a deadlift but its also the exercise I pay most attention to in terms of form - things can go pear shaped easily. If in pain, I would stop lifting, perhaps consider seeing a sport therapist / osteo / chiro etc to check it out and get some qualified advice. Whether you do or dont see someone, I would wait for it…
  • Wish I had organisation skills like this !
  • I've never ingested Collodial Silver but have great success in applying it topically to wounds on myself and our animals, including infections. It has always had rapid and positive results although I appreciate we are a very small test group :)
  • No :( I have to count calories as well as I have recently discovered my ideas about portions are, erm....unrealistic.
  • Am all for the hot lemon and ginger (am not a fan of honey). Ginger is good as an anti-inflammatory and can help with any nausea. Hydration is really important so please aim to get a lot of water on board. I also find sleeping as upright as you can stops all the ick pooling around your poor sore throat, along with a lot of…
  • Well done on reaching goal AND having a sustainable approach to maintenance !
  • I live in Italy and there is not a lot of McD's round these parts and those that are here tend to have tourists in them. Food quality is big here and doing anything other than cook from scratch is considered exceptional and not in a good way :D. Its been quite the unexpected shock moving from the UK food-wise, thats for…
  • https://www.nhs.uk/news/food-and-diet/sugar-intake-should-be-drastically-reduced-says-report/ Recommendation from the NHS for the UK is that free sugars (outside of fruit and veg) should be limited to 5% of calorie intake and limited to 30g for over 11 year olds. And its scarily easy to get to 30g imo !
  • Something thats new to me is the role inflammation plays in blood glucose management.
  • Well done on the great results !
  • Hello OP! You havent said what your weight and height stats are which would help :) I know you can be a normal weight yet still slip down the slope to T2. Your waist measurement would also be useful. With your A1c of 5.6 you are only just entering the danger zone I think ? Yes, I managed my BG previously pretty quickly by…
  • Sounds lovely OP ! I offer to drive datenight so my partner can drink and I save on the booze calories. Other than skipping the breadbasket, I drink water and pick the options I fancy on the night, enjoy them and try not to eat until I am stuffed. I get back onto the plan the next day. If I can get some extra exercise in…
  • Also ! Carbonated drinks of any kind are not good for the bones....
  • Well done OP ! My dentist noticed when I stopped drinking soda (Euw, right ?!) and I also felt better. As above, a water filter works wonders !
  • I am keeping my carbs at around 50 - 60g per day and my sugars below 20g. I actually dont appreciate most fruit so my sugars are largely used in my tea and the occasional processed food. Although not diabetic, I am proper lardy and cannot be far off being pre-diabetic/IR as for me there is a direct correlation between…
  • 60lbs is brilliant - well done OP !! This has given me the encouraging nudge I didnt quite realise I needed today, so thank you !
  • I think the Insanity programme is aptly named :) and I think what jumped out at me was that this is far more exercise than 25 mins on an ellipitcal - and are you doing less physical work in the day now since the job change ? If you are comfortable with it, I would bump up the exercise and include exercises that use your…
  • Hiya - and well done on the weight loss so far ! I also had a quick look at your diary and can see that some of the logging is amiss. For example, the Greggs Iced Bun (nice choice!) has not logged any sugar. I also have a sweet tooth but have found that there is a more direct correlation between my calories consumed and…
  • Hi Osbiwan - I think there are a few choices and I've done a couple :) You can find something to replace the comfort eating to manage the feelings (go for a walk, have a bath etc). I also had some therapy that really helped me learn to sit with uncomfortable feelings and process them rather than swamp them with cake.…
  • Hi Gemma - I am not quite sure what you are looking for from this thread - would you mind providing some more detail please ? Are you wanting people to confirm what weight you look like to them or to give you feedback on your current stats ? Or do you want to find someone of comparable height and age to compare weight…

  • Hello again :) Something I do (that is completely unscientific) is to only eat back a proportion of my exercise calories. I briskly walk 2.5 miles twice a day over hilly terrain thanks to owning dogs which at my lard level means I "could be" burning around 450 calories. I then do other exercise on top of that most days but…
  • Something thats come to me only recently is that this is a way of life with all the ups and down days that come with it - breaking the routine is not going to undo weeks/months of consistent and fab food and exercise habits. It feels like you are being quite hard on yourself - pls be kinder and start the next day as a…
  • I am on low carb higher fat and its working for me - my advice would be to remember to prioritise green veggies when spending your carb grammes and drink lots of water :) but if you want to have a bit of toast, have the toast and count the carbs - its not going to end you !
  • Hiya and well done on dropping those 40lb ! Broadly I support that all calories are equal with the exception of sugar. I had a look at your diary and would encourage you to drop the sugary drinks and replace those calories with water for liquids and wholegrain carbs/fat/protein mix on high exercise days for the calories. I…
