  • Welcome to all the newbies! I think we are a fun bunch! Some of us have been at it a while; some are returning; some are brand new! Hang in there everybody! @MollMoll821 I was just treadmill walking, and it seemed like I was stalling. So I started adding the elliptical. Currently I do 12 minutes on the treadmill, 5 on the…
  • Machka9 - I used to feel this way about the cold when I lived in Columbus, OH. It seemed to stay gray and dreary from November through March. It was cold, windy and most of the time, snow-covered. Once you got cold and damp, you just couldn't warm up. Back in KY, hot and humid - I'd almost take the cold because my hot…
  • I have to admit today was not a healthy food day! My mom wanted bratwurst for a Memorial Day picnic. My mom has been sick, so what my 80 year old mama wants; mama gets! Just pick it up where I left off tomorrow!!
  • I was a 10 year old in Louisville, KY in 1974. I remember Xenia getting hit hard. I lived in Columbus from 2000-2008. I had a few close calls when I lived there too. That was also the first time I had encountered a storm alert system that announced where the tornado alert was in effect. I had lived there 2 weeks when there…
  • Janet - Tornados scare me so much. I was 10 during the April 3, 1974 outbreak. I could see the neighborhood one and a half miles from my house flying through the air. I had several close calls in Columbus, OH and several more close calls in Louisville, KY. Just so scary!! Machka - your bike ride looks fantastic!! I love to…
  • OMG I nearly got stuck in one at Lane Bryant. I’m looking online at Woman Within.
  • Welcome to all the newbies! This has been a good month for me. The only May goal I’ve missed is one healthy new recipe a week; however, I have cooked more at home. Still need to try some new stuff!! Sweets are a huge problem for me too. I usually go for sugar-free gum or sugar-free Jolly Ranchers. Connie in KY
  • I have had one gout attack. NOT FUN!!! Nothing makes the pain go away! I do fine if I avoid mushrooms. My daughter went to the gym with me tonight. We had a great time.
  • It sounds like you are headed in the right direction with healthy eating and exercise. You may want to try smaller meals with healthy, high protein snacks in between. One other suggestion, get your thyroid checked! Pregnancy can cause the thyroid to do weird things. It may give you peace of mind just to find out! Connie in…
  • My daughter and I had an evening without commitments. We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. I ate 2 rolls, but kept everything else healthy! It was yummy, and we enjoyed the night out! Tomorrow - no rolls!! I did work out tonight too. Connie in KY
  • I could use support and motivation too. There is a group for women over 200. Look for us.
  • Pip-that is so scary!! I remember choking as a child on a piece of candy. It is the worst sense of helplessness. I’m so glad somebody knew what to do. One of the requirements in high school here is to get CPR certified and learn the Heimlich. My daughter certified last year. Have to admit I was bad this evening. We had a…
  • Heather - so sorry for the loss of your friend. Cancer is horrible! I know several of us have had a family loss lately, including myself. My uncle, who was also my godfather, passed away last week. It’s going to be June 1 before we can get everybody together for a memorial. He had been quite ill for the last two years. It…
  • Welcome to all the newbies!! I feel like it has been a good month so far. Hoping to finish strong!!
  • I’ve been hypothyroid for 22 years. It took several months to get under control. My TSH stayed on the high end of normal range until I went through menopause. Then the TSH jumped drastically. They increased my meds and I’ve felt much better. I’ve lost 32 pounds since the medication increase in February. I had lost 15…
  • So a few people have asked why my ballerina daughter would need to work on cardio stamina. Ballet class is intense, but contains lots of breaks and pauses (except jumps-that’s work). A large dance piece performed as part of the corps de ballet, a solo variation or pas de deux might be 10-15 minutes long. Class does not…
  • Allie-way to go on the weight loss. Pip-I love the arch. It is so beautiful. I had a decent Monday at work. I got all my necessary contract documents for next academic year together. Made some yummy quesadillas for dinner tonight. Seriously wish I didn’t have to measure the cheese! Keep safe in the Midwest US! Connie in KY
  • Rebecca - Athena Rose is beautiful!! What a little sweetheart. I had a decent weekend. I realize Chinese carry out is not the best thing for me, but I wanted to indulge my daughter a bit. She has joined the gym with me for the summer. As a ballerina she is quite fit, but they tell her she needs to work on cardio to…
  • My problem is my aunt. She doesn’t understand that I track in MFP because I can’t trust myself to remember what I have eaten. She yelled at me one day last week as I was scanning barcodes -“You’re taking this to extremes. This isn’t healthy!” Two hours later I’m eating a bowl of strawberries - plain strawberries, no sugar,…
  • I only dropped 1 pound this week, but it’s still a loss so I’m happy. My good friend joined Weight Watchers a few weeks ago. He’s lost 17 pounds, but still has a ways to go. He’s no where near One-derland either!
  • I’ve lost 45 pounds. I have loose skin in my thighs and abdomen. I didn’t realize how much until I looked in the mirror. It was kind of depressing because I realized it’s why I still need the sizes I do.

  • This is perfect! My aunt was being super critical of my use of MFP. Told me I was obsessing to make sure I recorded every morsel of food and measured every bite. Then, 2 hours later, she has guts enough to tell me I have too many strawberries in the bowl. Right after I was criticized for measuring my food. Connie in KY
  • Pip-congrats on finding Kirby. Seems yours is a relationship meant to be. I’m sorry for the way your family treated you and Lenny. All the education in the world can’t make somebody change their views. I lost a very dear friend to HIV/AIDS in the late 80s. It’s a horrible disease that people are sadly still misinformed.…
  • Depression...the struggle is horrible. I just said somethings I really shouldn’t have to my daughter. She is going on a college visit with a school group Friday. She wants to sleepover at a friend’s Friday night. I told her she could and we would run home, get her overnight bag and I would take her to her friend’s house.…
  • Michele - big hugs for you!! What a stressful week so far! I hope the baby is OK. As for the dog, well, the baby has to come first. It seems to be a stressful time for all involved. The whooping cough vaccine requirement is fairly new. The vaccine doesn’t provide immunity for as long as they originally thought. A lot of…
  • Michele- I did not realize your are a bowler. I bowled for years and was a certified youth instructor. It was lots of fun. Not the healthiest eating today. A former student brought me a sliver of homemade German chocolate cake for Mother’s Day. I couldn’t resist and it was so sweet of her. Had a luncheon for our graduates…
  • All the new grandbabies!! What fun and congratulations!! I made a big dinner for us last night. It made everybody quite happy! Having a lazy day today! Happy Mother’s Day!! Connie in KY
  • Rebecca - she is beautiful and just in time for Mother’s Day!! Feel good moment - some lady at my gym came up to me tonight and told me I was her hero for my perseverance. I equally admire her because she is there all the time too. I’ve never had anybody say that to me. It was a great feeling! Connie in Ky
  • Heather-I lost a baby years ago, my only pregnancy. It was horrific. Years later, I opted to pursue adoption. I had just started my home study when my dad died. My social worker made me withdraw my application. I was so excited because China had begun to limit adoptions to single parents. Withdrawing my application was…
  • I lost 15 pounds from November 2018 to February 2019. I did that by dropping the frequent bags of Halloween candy. I’ve lost 29 pounds since starting MFP in mid-February. I also joined a gym at that time.
