I get called an "inspiration" sometimes. I'm glad for that. Some people act envious. One remark was a grumbled, "I think I'm finding the weight you're losing." And then there is the teasing. "Your clothes are getting loose on you. Did they stretch out, or something?" I suppose it's similar to the joke about somebody…

At our gym, there is a sauna with an upper deck. No step-ladder or anything, so if you want to get to the upper bench, you have to climb. For the first time ever in my life, I did it. I climbed up there.

I looked in the mirror and could see my collar bones.

I can fold my hands together behind my back.

If some kind of food unexpectedly disappears, I'd like to not be the instant automatic suspect just because I'm the size I am. After all, everybody knows all overweight people have no self-control and compulsively eat everything in sight, right? Note, this is one of those things that used to happen more often in the past…

I got sick last week and went to the doctor. Nurse taking my vitals said she wished everybody had those numbers. Blood pressure, pulse, respiration, all great. I had been running a slight temp, but it was down. Later all labs, including glucose which usually comes back high, came back normal. It may have been a little bug.…

I can sit with my knees together. I can even cross my legs. Above the knee.

I still get surprised when I look around and see that I am not the fattest person in the room.

Downside: First on, last off. I’ve had a belly since I was nine years old. Guess the only part of me that is not getting smaller.
-
You’re offended by the term because you misunderstand it.

One that really peeves me off is, "Keep losing weight, and soon you won't need your cane anymore." I don't use a cane because I'm too fat to walk. People much larger than I am can walk without assistive devices. I use a cane because I was injured in a car accident. Even if I lose another 100 pounds, that's never going away.
-
Every time I look for a job and they tell me they're not hiring, my automatic thought is, "Which is it? My age, my weight, or my cane?" I'd like to take at least one of those out of the equation.

I speak from experience. He's only saying you suck because he knows in his heart you're way out of his league, and he doesn't deserve someone as good as you. He's afraid of losing you and wants to keep your self-esteem low. In his convoluted reasoning, if you feel so bad about yourself that you think no other man would…

I volunteered today at our church's community resource center. Someone I've been going to church with for at least ten years approached me. She seemed surprised. She said at first she didn't think it was me, and then asked how much weight I've lost. I told her, and she said no wonder she didn't recognize me. She's known me…

A “friend” asked me how much weight I’ve lost so far. When I answered, she facetiously suggested we “celebrate” by going out for banana splits. I can’t at this stage tell if she’s a frenemy or, as my husband believes, simply a dingbat. We’re often asked if we’re on the same diet that this other couple we know are on.…

We had our A1C tests done yesterday. Today I had a follow up appointment with my doctor. Hubby's is tomorrow. For those who are not familiar with A1C, if you're above 5.7, you're in danger. Above 6.5 means you're full-blown diabetic. I've been as high as at least 11, maybe 12, but I'm working on it very hard. Last time, it…

I'm almost surprised they haven't started sizing in the negative numbers yet. Vanity sizing is NOT selling larger-sized clothing to those who need them. Vanity sizing is taking what used to be, for example, a size 22, and calling it an 18 to make the clientele happy. Then what used to be a 24 becomes a 20, what used to be…

Hubby and I hiked a nature trail over the weekend. Three miles around. Uphill. Several fallen trees across the path, big ones, which I.... get this.... climbed over.

Today's exercise walk was completed in 4 minutes less time than the last time I walked that route.

I did the bat wing test as instructed. It does appear to be loose skin. I can feel firmness underneath, where the muscle is, but there is quite a layer of jiggle over top of that. Not that I think it's ugly, though, because it shows my progress. That loose sack of jiggle used to be filled out with fat. I'm proud of my bat…

I was just plain freezing tonight. So cold I wondered if I was getting sick. We have an electronic thermometer that will check both body and room temperature. Well, my own body temperature was normal, so I flipped the switch on it to check the room temperature. Hubby predicted it would be around 70. (Fahrenheit. Would be…

I very often rant about that topic. And probably will again.

Oh, yes, the shoes getting loose. Even our feet lose weight. I'm fine with the kind of shoes that need to be tied or velcroed, but slip-ons give me a problem.

Last time I reintroduced dairy, I ended up in urgent care. Dairy's going to stay gone.

For me, a bad food day would be worse, but I've got other issues going on besides weight.

I want my husband proud he married me, and I want my ex-husband to feel like he blew it when he left me. Yeah, that's petty.

1.) I went shopping for new shirts. Tried one on that was not plus sized. It slid on easily, without stretching or straining the fabric, and fit me comfortably. 2.) My chest now sticks out farther than my stomach does.
