@nossmf I actually stared lifting in around 2010, and for a while it was my main form of exercise (although I never competed.) I think I am anthropomorphically suited to deadlift; I have long arms and a short torso; so it's always been my best lift. I reached a BMI if 28-ish, which turned out to be way too. heavy. I was in…

A related observation is that my libido seems to be noticeably higher as a skinny person than as a larger person. (It's still nowhere near my teenage levels, which is probably good as I got very little done back then.)

It is indeed a difficulty scale. There are two main scales used for bouldering in the UK, the v (for "vermin", I think) scale and the Font scale. There are other scales around; and roped climbing has a number of different versions again. This link explains bouldering: https://topbouldering.com/bouldering-grades/ v grades…

Friday Lifting. Squat (70 kgs); bench (50 kgs); deadlift (100 kgs). All 3 sets of fahve. I also hangboarded; my fingers are strong at the moment. Body weight: 64 kgs. Saturday Climbing, 3.5 hours. Good fun; although I only got a couple of v4s I got loads of V3. Sunday 13 mile hike Monday Climbing, just over 2 hours.…

@AnnPT77 I hope the symptoms ease. I gave up my Fitbit about a year ago; I started to find it too intrusive. I'm pretty sure walking doesn't count unless it is tracked by expensive electronics; God knows how our ancestors coped. (My replacement watch is a £10 Casio digital. It is superb; almost indestructible and if I do…

@AnnPT77 get well soon! We pushed our cave discovery on Sunday. We ignored the danger of the chossy boulder choke, and got slightly over 100m of brand new passage, never seen before. It can get a bit narrow; the photo is me reversing as head first didn't work for me on this hole.

I went climbing on Wednesday. It was terrible, gravity was far too high. I lifted weights on Thursday (fingerboarding, pull ups, bench and deadlift.) I went caving today. We wandered down a valley with a vague aim of finding new passage. We think we've found around 10 metres of new passage; if we can move a boulder we are…

Possibly slightly off-topic, but it's certainly not scale related: I set myself the goal or reading 52 books this year. I will finish the target today or tomorrow. (The final book is on elliptic curves, building up to a statement of Birch Swinnerton-Dyer hypothesis. Most of the others were novels; around 15 were…

I went climbing on Saturday. 3 hour session; it was fun. I climbed OK. I did a 21 mile walk today; from my house to Bushy Park and back. The park was shut due to high winds. At one point, there was a sign saying "footpath closed". This struck me as inaccurate: for example, I was I on the path. Therefore it was not closed.…

I did a 10 mile walk, then went climbing for 2.5 hours. It was fun; I was in good form. I seem to be back to the form I was in pre-injury. My ankle was slightly swollen at the end, but not painful. (I can do pistol squats again.)

I went climbing yesterday. It was fun; I was finally in form and my ankle didn't hurt. It was a training session: we were trying our anti-styles. I got two overhanging, powerful v4s. 2.5 hour session.

I've been working on my ankle rehab, which has been going OK but slowly. I seemed to recover reasonably quickly for most things; climbing is proving to be the slowest. I suspect that climbing puts a lot of strain on the ankle. I had one session a couple of weeks ago, where I climbed for 2.5 hours and was limping heavily by…

I managed 10 miles' walk and a climb today. Again, I got some easy v3s. I',m not at full fitness, but slowly getting there.

@mtaratoot I've found the trick for shore dives is to take the bottles to the entrance separately, and only don them at the last minute (in the water if possible.,) Then getting out is that process in reverse; you leave the bottles at the side to pick up later. I don't need to walk far, if at all, fully kitted up. I went…

I did the course in March. I haven't done that many dives in it yet, less than 20. My first attempt in the sea led to a quick ascent from 20 metres. (I was head heavy in a strong drift, which made buoyancy hard). I sometimes do deco. It's not hugely typical of my dives; but if I'm in Scapa (say) the bottom of the warships…

That sounds fun. Part of the reason I like caving so much is that a lot of the movement is difficult and terrifying. I went diving today. It was was just quarry dives: I wanted to check my ankle was Ok, and I had a drysuit back from repair I wanted to test. I'm also still not completely used to sidemount. My buoyancy was…

I finally got around to swimming. My gym cancelled my earlier two bookings with no explanation. The first 5 or 6 lengths were hard; I was doing breaststroke and my ankle complained about the rotational movement. After that, it must have sufficiently stretched, so it felt good. I did 500 metres, so not far, but it was…

I'm finally close to bring fixed. My ankle was really painful a week ago on Tuesday, when I went into the office. I was moving very slowly and limping a lot. I vaguely considered going to the doctor's. Instead, I concentrated on trying to walk without a limp, and moving as fast as possible. This seems to have been vaguely…

I tried a scuba diving yesterday. It turned out to be over-ambitious. Getting onto a bouncing boat, in a dry suit, over an unstable pebbled beach, with heavy kit on proved too much for my ankle. It was pretty sore after that for the rest of the day. Today, I didn't try to dive but have walked a lot; I am currently on 12…

I fell on a slab climb on Wednesday, and my leg hit a volume on the way down. I twisted my right ankle. I couldn't really walk, but a friend I was climbing with lives near the gym. He twisted his ankle on a caving trip in summer, so he had crutches. So I got home fine, if slowly. (Two walks which normally take 10 minutes;…

Climbing. 2.5hours. It was good; my first ever v5 flash.

It has been a while since I posted here. Monday Climbing, endurance training. Good fun, I was destroyed afterwards. 2.5 hours. Wednesday Climbing, 3 hours. Decent, I got a v5. Thursday Lifting; I am weak Friday Swimming, just 1km as I went before breakfast and was time constrained. Saturday Caving. This was our dig. We got…

Saturday Walked up Snowdon. It was nice; it's an easy walk. I last climbed it around 10 years ago; my fitness is way better now. It was really crowded, so I would run up the bits I was on to overtake; realise I'd let my mates behind; and have a wait before the next 5 min sprint. Sunday Caving in a mine. This was also…

Monday Climbing. 2.5 hours. It was a training session; we concentrated on getting relatively easy climbs perfect(no hesitation; no readjustments). It was fun. At the end. I did done projecting, and got a powerful overhanging v4 which I've tried many times before. Wednesday Climbing, 2.5 hours. Good fun, I stared badly but…

A "go to page" button would be useful; I currently need to press the back button as many times as needed. It is quite close to the Page 1 button, so error prone.

Saturday I went sightseeing with my niece in London, so got around 20,000 steps during the day (neither of us like the Tube.) I then went climbing in the evening. 3 hour session. It was odd; I started really badly. However, after 2 hours I suddenly improved. I got 4 of my projects in the last hour; mainly hard v3s but one…

Posting is hard now finding the end of threads is hard... Monday Climbing. I pulled a muscle on Sunday, so I didn't go very hard. Wednesday Badminton. The first time I had played in years. Good fun. 1 hour.
-
I've been getting this too, both on the app and the website.

Friday Climbing, 2 hours. Pretty decent session. One slab v4 took me about 2 minutes. I flashed the thing, but it was horrible. (You chimney up between two volumes. It only had three holds.) Saturday 12 mile walk. I'm unfit; I was tired at the end. Maybe I should have taken some food or water with me; I tend not to bother…

Wednesday Climbing, 3 hours. I went with my little brother, who does way shorter sessions than me. I broke him; he twisted his ankle towards the end. It was an existing injury, hopefully he recovers quickly. Thursday Lifting. Squat, bench and deadlift; with done fingerboarding thrown in.
