  • I wouldnt even know how to scan some food, what with?
  • I have a little challenge with myself every day to eat as many of my '5 a day' as I can. So some days my veg count (I eat very little fruit, not keen) is around 250 to 300 calories. Thats a big chunk to ignore.
  • I dont know what scan means? But I will have a look at that website in future for clarification.
  • Well, yes I go by that, but am slightly mistrustful so like to have a range so that I can work out whether the package is correct or not. On the package I am cooking this evening it says 100g 196 calories. However when I was searching here for the product it was coming up between 170 per 100g and 260 per 100g, all raw. I…
  • Do you mean serving sizes according to the manufacturer or according to government advice? I dont take notice of either but if I were to take notice then it would be government/health advice about what makes an appropriate serving size for my size person or a person my size trying to lose weight. As it happens I just work…
  • Ok, that makes sense, I thought you were saying that any of the macros that were left over meant the data was wrong. I see mine are set to grams anyway.
  • I used to make those too, good for breakfasts, also a little thin sliver of peperami in them is nice
  • Is it a hot meal you want? I started doing this a while back and it really helped me. Get a thermos food flask and either make up some meals on a sunday night (presuming you work Monday to Friday) and put them in portion sized tubs. Then each morning take the tubs, microwave them, put the food in the food flask and you…
  • Im interested in what you've said here, can you explain a bit more. I thought the 'macros' were the percentages not the grams per se of what you have eaten, have I misunderstood this? I often have carbs left and calories left at the end of a day but always go over my fat levels. Does this indicate the data is wrong?
  • I havent drunk them for years but it used to have that affect on me. I also notice that my partner has put on a bit of weight since drinking of what seems like gallons of diet coke. I also notice that indigestion can have 'hunger pain' type elements to it at times.
  • I havent read the whole of this thread yet but you do need to be really careful about the entries. I think a lot of people dont understand 'serving size' and 'per 100g' and then muddle up the calories and other nutrients. So many entries are not accurate. I was correcting things but there are so many I have sort of given…
  • I have done everything except for the tapas. I have no idea where to start I had clams in sherry with chopped serrano ham on top Baked mussels in garlic, a fairly dry dish, I would say I had about 5 of them on my own A feta and anchovy salad (hunt the anchovy) A dressed salad Figs baked with goats cheese (hunt the goats…
  • Well a bit of an update to this. I forgot that we had booked up a little mini break this weekend. We have just got home. Now I have found this weekend that my plan to be able to 'estimate' weights/calculations has gone seriously wrong. There are some dishes I have had this weekend which I feel I can make a fairly competent…
  • If starvation mode were actually real then people wouldnt die or become ill of starvation would they.
  • I put on half a pint, which I presume covers me for my cups of tea. Do you like builders tea or are you like me and a bit free with the sloshing in?
  • I remember those days too, but we did have scales in the kitchen, they just werent digital (like mine now actually) and yes the calories were logged in a little note book, thats the only difference.
  • I prefer bulgar wheat for that sort of thing. Tastier and easier to get the texture right
  • I lasted about an hour on it when I tried it. Possibly less.

  • Tea!! And although Im a Londoner (now living at the coast), yes it has to be Yorkshire tea
  • Im in my second week now and my goal is 4.5 stone. Hard work. I have given myself until next July/August
  • I know what you mean but it makes me distrust what they're printing overall, which is what I meant.
  • Do you know whats good, a sliced apple with a bit of peanut butter spread on each slice (so about 4 slices). If you need something fatty and sugary.
  • Well are you continuing to lose weight on a monthly basis? If so, then carry on as you are. I presume you mean your 'sugar addiction' is about sweet things, my issue is with standard carbs which then trigger me to eat the world and its wife. Even though I dont have a sweet tooth, I would gladly sit and devour a big cake…
  • Oh yes, all UK places give you a doggy bag if you ask, thats not a problem. For me personally I cannot leave it if its on the plate, unless Im literally stuffed. So my plan is that I will have to make the right choice rather than limit what I eat of what Ive ordered. Ive been 'travelling' round the restaurants and pubs we…
  • Well done, I have a well established pattern of over spending when Im losing weight and over eating when Im trying to cut back on spending. Shame
  • Me too, my little challenge to myself is to see how many '5 a day' I can eat. Today was 8, as was yesterday. I log all the veg at 100g, that way I overestimate a bit. It all adds up. Even before I had added my protein to my dinner today, the calories just from the veg was 269, thats a lot to leave out
  • My friend has just come to the end of 18 months of weight loss and lost 3 stone, which averages out at .5lbs a week, some weeks she didnt lose for ages, being very fond of the booze and holidays, other weeks quite a lot came off. 18 months is nothing actually, so why not either go for .5lb loss a week, which shouldnt…
  • Is today your weigh day? I bet next week you see around 2lbs off. Stick at it and I bet thats what you see At your weight and height, plus all the exercise and water I would guess at around half a pound to a pound each week on average, but you wont physically see that each week, you might see it every couple of weeks once…
  • I always have a plan, I dont stick to it though, thats the problem The plan is straightforward. Breakfast every day in the cottage, a light lunch OR a light dinner, excluding the things I cant eat and focusing on the protein and veg. However I am so weak willed. But I just cant continue to be, Im too old and unhealthy to…
  • Egg on toast, beans on toast, sardines on toast with a little bit of cheese melted over the top If you are eating rice, get a microwave pouch, fry up some chopped onions, chopped peppers, loads of garlic, frozen peas, chuck it all in with the cooked rice, stir in the tuna, very nice. I also like to add in some curry spices…
