  • Its a big myth that 'european' food is healthier. Lots of butter and large portions for touristy restaurants. Water is always available in restaurants or cafes? Just ask for tap water and they'll bring out a big bottle or glasses of it.
  • Hold on a minute, Im sure I saw on a documentary once which featured a fair in an american state, where one of the 'treats' and specialities of the fair was 'deep fried butter'. They call them sticks of butter and then deep fried it!!! Deep fried fat. But I'd give it a good go!!!
  • I was just about to ask this question! How much is in one of those little schwartz bottles!?
  • I would log it all personally. I had 5864 calories yesterday. I planned to eat what I wanted, but always log it. We ate out for breakfast, lunch and then dinner with friends, involving lots of alcohol and snacks. I like to know what my weekly totals are. Last week was 3500 cals lower than my allowance so I suppose this…
  • Those are just what would be called home grown cucumbers, you see those on allotments all the time. Slightly tougher skins and possibly the burp factor.
  • Me too, no such thing as english cucumbers.
  • Ooh lovely, now is that Medway, Canterbury? Maidstone?
  • Depends, can you calculate the height of your house using Eddie Stobart trucks as a guide?! Im in south east Kent, boiling here. Just been for breakfast on the sea front.
  • There has been a lot of threads about scale positioning on the floor, make sure the floor is dead flat
  • Yep, I was perusing the thread last night which talked about cooked vs dried pasta and was going to comment then that my bag of sainsbury's penne cites 100g of dried pasta as a 'serving'. Handy for me as that is what I actually count as a serving but then I hardly ever eat it now and I am very greedy. Normal people wouldnt…
  • God its 20 days now although I havent seen 263lbs for 9 days so that at least means I am now hovering between 262 an 261. However today (and probably tomorrow) is a very high calorie day which has been planned for over a month which means all manner of foods, particularly salty foods going in.
  • It should be part of those citizen tests, can you have a prolonged boring conversation about the weather (in which you will complain whether its hot or cold), can you measure things in terms of football pitches or double decker buses and will you involuntarily roll your eyes at the mention of brexit.
  • Your Asian colleague could easily be bulimic, hence why she is under a doctor.
  • Yes, I do weigh everything, I dont guess or eyeball unless Im eating out and then I use a very high calorie equivalent from a restaurant where possible. I dont weigh packaged goods such as my pots of cottage cheese or sandwich thins or ryvita etc because I havent found any to be heavier than their stated weights when Ive…
  • Thanks everyone, I know Ive just got to be patient, its very wearing though.
  • I didnt take measurements because dependent on what I eat, I can swell up and therefore the measurements would fluctuate too, so that wouldnt help. As I said I know my wrist is slightly bigger today as I had a lot of bread and pasta last night which I dont usually eat. No way would I take pictures of myself!!! In any case…
  • Im quite jealous of everyone that weighs prepackaged foods and find that they are overweight, you must be getting a bargain. Every time this comes up I nip in the kitchen and test this out and weigh some things and find them underweight. Im getting ripped off!
  • If you look at more 'naturally' shaped women in the 60s and 70s, (or further back) in bikinis, that is the shape that is natural for most women. You are normal! Once you lose weight it will get smaller, you have lovely curves.
  • I count salad and although there are some items like lettuce and cucumber which are so watery (add celery into that too), they really have minimal calories others will be more calorific and will impact on your calories if you are very limited such as, sweetcorn, beetroot, carrots, avocado (of course), tomatoes if you like…
  • I doubt it. In the UK we rarely have air con but have horrible humidity. We getting just as fat as americans now, including me.
  • I dont understand that comment about a protein in the body kicking in and preventing fat loss. You used the 'biggest loser' contestants as examples. But surely if they lost weight in the first place (before gaining it back), then surely this is not relevant to them as otherwise they wouldnt have lost weight if they had…
  • I can empathise. Im yet again in a 'fluctuation' as I like to call it. For the past 16 days I have gone down a pound, up a pound, down a pound, up a pound. And this is during a time when I had cut down the calories to lose a bit faster over the next 6 weeks or so (was 7 weeks at the time I planned this). I can afford to do…
  • The ads are not fat shaming at all. But fat shaming is destructive and harmful. Others in this thread have made comments about it not being ok to see someone who is obese eating a burger and chips or equivalent. But you might see me, obese, eating a burger and chips, but its within my calorie allowance and Im losing…
  • Strawberries and marscapone is gorgeous, although probably higher in calorie. Ive just had some flat breads and houmous and now the match has started so I cant move from the sofa
  • Surely a plain old rib has no carbs, therefore I would assume that with the sauce, thats where the carbs are from?
  • I thought it was a British term, people in the north or older people call soft drinks 'pop'.

  • Being the cynic I am, I actually doubt there is controversy, its just a PR mans way of getting more value for money and highlighting the adverts without needing to have as many! Everyone knows that being overweight/fat/obese, whatever word or category you want to use is not good for health. I did see one and thought it…
  • I dont drink diet pop because I dont really drink pop. However I cannot abide the taste of most 'diet' drinks so the odd occasion when I will have some soft drinks its normally a normal coke. I cant drink lemonade as that also has sweetners in it, even if its not the diet version which annoys me. At home I have fizzy water…

  • I dont know actually I was just responding to something someone said about cheap food so I commented about that too. I dont see the ads as controversial, except that the display being in the form of a *kitten* packet doesnt really make sense to me God you cant say *kitten* on here?? Cigarettes then!
  • I would imagine it is already calculated in. Although is there a lot of sugar in the sauce?
