I suppose that statistics in the UK (where the ads are) are that it is the lower socio economic groups who are the most obese. I assume its the same in america but I dont know if thats true. There are always exceptions to the rule, I dont fit into that group but I am certainly obese, at the moment.

I think cooking styles should be more promoted to support cheap eating. No one talks about slow cookers in recipes or even on cooking programmes. Maybe they're not fashionable. But if you have a lack of time, cheap ingredients then just bung em in the slow cooker before you go out and then by the time you get home you have…

This is the problem and while technically it is cheaper to eat lower calorie/home cooked food, if you are grabbing something that you need to eat while on a lunch break, walking home or whatever the situation is where you dont have your own food, you're going to go for the chips (I dont know if you mean crisps but the…

I cant go to bed hungry, either real or imagined. If Im craving something I have about 25g of cheese or a hot chocolate depending on whether Ive got a fatty or sweet craving. I also eat a big meal in the evenings so that Im full up and I also like to pretend that once Ive finalised my food diary for the day, I cant add…

Well what do you mean by excessive? As I have lost some weight now, my stomach cant take the portion sizes I used to, much to my disappointment. So in the past say, a dinner for me might be a couple of burgers (supermarket) with some pittas or sandwich thins, plus oven chips, plus some coleslaw. Now I can only eat one…

Blessed are the cheese makers.

Thats an 8oz steak in old money isnt it? Thats a restaurant size or a nice meal size, I wouldnt really consider that appropriate for a bog standard tea time. How often are you eating them?
-
Yes this is my strategy at the moment. Im allowed 1790 to lose 1lb per week. In the week I try to stick to 1290, sometimes this happens sometimes its around the 1400 or 1500s. Then at the weekend I can stick to 1790, plus my exercise calories (the only time I exercise at the moment, need to improve that) and dont need to…

I think I misunderstood you, I thought you said 28lbs and then 45lbs in 11 months. Anyway you know you will retain a bit of water when you increase or change your exercise and that could mask a slow loss of .5lb a week?
-
Are you sure you're plateauing? You have lost a lot of weight very quickly so its natural it will slow down a bit. Perhaps you dont need to change anything?

They do better fish and chips up north though dont they?

Yes I suppose so. I found a chocolate coin left over from xmas yesterday so I had a bit of chocolate for quite small calories. I also had for my tea last night greek yoghurt and fruit which could have been ice cream I suppose. It was very hot here so I didnt fancy a proper dinner. As I said I would have done a pizza for a…

Surely you could have some chocolate for about 70 cals, biscuits for about the same amount, ice cream for about 150? Not all together on the same day obviously Cake admittedly is a bit harder sometimes its not even worth for me having such a small amount that is a sensible calorie amount because it leaves me feeling…

Sorry I meant that I didnt claim (and dont claim) that eating health isnt cheaper, it is cheaper.

Im not sure it makes much difference if you go to the group but tweak your eating pattern so that it fits with what you know to work for yourself. The purpose of the group for you is to get validation, support, social network and have fun. The purpose of your way of eating is to lose weight. The group supports that. I dont…

This is what sort of eat. I find its easier for me to feel full up. I have lost 21lbs now. This week Ive had a little bit higher carb and I find it makes me a bit swollen and lethargic, particularly bready things. So next week I will make more of an effort to lower them again, and when I say lower carb I dont mean low low,…

Im not a big fan of rice but do much prefer brown rice as its a bit more flavoursome and seems to have a bit more to it.

Well I have to take it back that I will find out via google, Im now overloaded with search results about microwaves, tumble driers and dishwashers. Its appliance overload for me! I give up!

Well if you rent a room say, or are in a b+b, then you are a household. So census returns for example will record the 'household' wherever they are living whether that be in a massive house or hostel room. People on the street tend to be single (generally speaking). A household doesnt mean you live in a house, its a group…

Are they related to the Horshams?

I dont claim that 'eating healthy' is cheaper than pre cooked takeaway/fast food, I was just commenting on those statistics. I am talking about those in the UK however and yes, homeless families are certainly households.

I know him quite well. I know that he hasnt even thought about the fact that they were there. And he hasnt even remembered that he had them or asked where they are or wondered where they were. He does this all the time with food, brings food in, leaves it on the top, doesnt eat it, wont eat things if they have been left…

My wrist is over 7.5 inches (and Im female). Im not 'big boned' (I actually have small hands and feet considering Im 5'6. Its because my arms and hands are fat!

Yes ex Londoner on the south coast V muggy here.
-
That is so true, my exercise of choice is swimming but it actually makes me put on weight because I just cant stop eating if I regularly swim.
-
I would question those statistics actually, there are lots and lots of homeless families stuck in hostels and b+bs who dont have access to fridges or freezers or adequate cooking or storage facilities. Even those who arent in temporary accommodation, they are often in rented accommodation with possibly a lack of…

I love giant plates smothered with fatty sauces though!

If you google low fat lite alfredo then it comes up and you can get into it but its all in cups as measurements so you would need to work out what it is in grams to work out the calories.

This is quite timely for me. i have not seen this thread before. I have mentioned on a couple of threads here that I have got tempted yesterday and today not to log a couple of little things. I know that this is because I have been doing well and at this time in the process ( a couple of months in) if I have done well in…
