Is that table correct? It has different BMIs as being in different categories for different heights? Or am I reading it wrong.

Ive just calculated mine at my starting point, which was 46.9. The NHS website just calculates as obese but I know that its in the morbidly obese category, Im not sure if there is one above that either which I might be in. Im 6 weeks in and Im now 44.6. My aim is in a years time I hope to be in the obese category (rather…

The muscle thing as well, surely the heavier you are, the more muscle you use holding yourself up I would have thought, although for those who are so heavy they cant move around, that becomes counterproductive.

I thought this said 'trying to get off the sofa'.

I dont generally eat what is commonly called junk food (even before losing weight this time), as I like a bit of varied intake, but today I have eaten 'fast food' all day. Mcdonalds for breakfast, then for sort of tea timish as I had no lunch, then fish and chips. Various cups of tea. i think the only piece of vegetable…

Are we all aware it is national fish and chip day?? Im having a chippy tea.

Oh, and I seem to have managed to only put deodorant under one armpit and I was wearing a chiffon top (ie polyester) in a very hot court building. I tried to walk around with my arms clamped down beside me, walking carefully so my ripped trousers couldnt be seen. What a day.

Plus the concept of 'safe' needs to be looked at in context. Chemotherapy is not 'safe', it causes dangerous side effects but is vital for treatment of cancer tumours so its 'safer' than cancer but not 'safe' if you havent got cancer.

I havent read the whole thread but I presume its to get weight off as much as you can in as short time period as you can. If you're 60 stone odd, then if you can lose a huge amount of water weight initially ( I seem to recall a programme, might have been in America where this woman was in a hospital bed for about 2 months…

It might be my 'fat brain' but 10.5 stone for a man seems very low. Im the same height and Im aiming for 12.5 stone (might never make it, might have to settle for about 14 stone)

is the word 'bad' just confined to health issues. What about moral issues like palm oil.

Yes all present and correct.
-
Thats a disappointment.

I could do this. Lashings of butter and cheese are included yes?

Sometimes I can be sent somewhere miles and miles away, sent to court urgently, which can then last the rest of the day, sent to pick up children urgently, meetings overun and then run into each other, then I have to get out to the next visit or appointment and so on and so on. Lucky the people that can just choose to turn…

Thanks, to be honest I have tried the measuring tape thing before and not found it very accurate as I have a tendency to not be sure how tight or loose I had it or exactly where I had it last time and if I do my own waist there is a lot in the way if you see what I mean so I cant do it easily myself. Ive also found, using…

Ha, the best answer. thanks everyone, yes I had them under the sink you see so I had to pull them out to use them. However I have now moved them to the bedroom where I wont need to move them and that has a laminate floor which is a bit more hard and flat I think. Its not the battery as they are brand new.
-
These ones say you dont need to do the zeroing thing (Ive had that sort before though) Well I moved them around to check they were consistent. It shouldnt have different readings in different places.

Its not so much bringing the food in, in my job sometimes I dont get the time to nip to the loo. I have sat there before with food in my bag to eat but dont get time to eat it. Some of us have jobs where its just too busy and people want a piece of you all the time.

I know its terrible. Ive been to Egypt a couple of times many years ago, it was during Ramadan one of the times and at sunset we got invited by random strangers on the street to come and eat with them. It was lovely.

I think to maintain a 600lb weight someone's maintenance would be around 5000 calories

Well Nigel is back on telly tonight and now he is in Iran. Apparently Iranians eat more bread than anywhere else in the world. 6x more than any other country.

If you're swimming, even slowly, you are still needing to move your body through water. If you are treading water, even a bit furiously, you dont need to actually move yourself, just stay upright.

I believe I am in peri menopause and may have been for the past 18 months or a bit more. The last time I lost any substantial weight was about 4-5 years ago, and it came off quite quickly when I focused on a lower carb approach and I wasnt counting calories. for the past 18 months to a year when I have tried it again, it…

I didnt weigh myself until a week and a half after I got back from my recent holiday. I logged everything every day and went 3.5k calories over my maintenance that week. I was therefore expecting that once all the water bloating went (which was significant as my feet swelled up like nobodies business), I would therefore…

This week on BBC2 they've started repeating the Nigel Slater cookery programme where he visits the Middle East. Last night was the Lebanon, tonight Turkey. I am only 5 weeks into, what I hope will be, the very last time I lose weight. My first goal is 1lb a week until next August to lose 63lb and I have lost 12 of those…

Yes you're correct 750 calories! (Kettle chips or equivalent) A bargain! I used to try the bowl trick but then you know the rest of them are there in the cupboard, already open, waiting for you to come and finish them.
-
I dont know about the OP but if you just cant stop eating them, then you could easily work your way through a bag for about 1500 calories which doesnt really leave a lot of room.
-
How much fat is in that though, is it 20%, 15%, 10%, 5%?? That will affect the calories a lot.
