  • I do! I’m feeling it right now. I get it after doing strength training or pilates. I just finished a kettlebell session. It’s not a sore feeling, just feels like my muscles for a good workout. It’s also a very relaxing feeling.

  • I prefer the vinyl because they come in different colors 😊. Maybe it’s the brand ( I think it may have been a cheap one from Walmart) but I purchased an all iron cast one and found that the handle was rough, not sanded down, which irritated my hand a bit. But I bought weight gloves and problem solved. Other than that, I…
  • I love kettlebells. They’re fun and the moves are different. I mix up the different moves in a tabata style workout. I also like Jillian Michael’s Shred It with Weights. I feel like I’m getting a good total body workout with kettlebells. I prefer the one arm swings to the two arm swings. I think because having to switch…
  • Yep. I’ve gotten about 3 or 4 this past week. I declined the request.
  • 1) about 10 years ago, I was at 191 pounds and only 5’2”. I looked in the mirror one day and caught sight of the back of my arm and saw the fat drooping down over my elbow. Funny, it wasn’t the fact that my clothes didn’t fit anymore (I reasoned that they shrunk in the dryer), or that I was up to a size 16, pushing 18 (I…
  • I added 3 new routines/workouts to my rotations. I’m pretty sure I’ll stick with them because I love doing them. 1) I’ve always worked out at home, but I joined a gym this year only to have it close a month later due to covid. I really enjoyed going because I like being around like-minded people, and I can’t wait to get…
  • How is your Hydro? I’m in the market for a rower and am looking at Nordictrak since the Concept 2 is waitlisted. I love rowing. I discovered it right before the gyms were shut down in March. I bought a cheap hydraulic rower to fill the need but it has since broken. Although, I’m not ready to go back to the gym yet, I’m…
  • I think one of the benefits is because you’re getting your heart rate way up during those sprinting intervals, you burn more calories in a short amount of time so you don’t have to spend as much time working out. For instance, you may burn 400 calories doing brisk walking for an hour, but burn that same amount in a 20-30…
  • Do you have the bands with the handles or the loops? I just did this one with the handles on YouTube. It was pretty good. https://youtu.be/18hPypKsQ8w I usually make up my own exercise routine. If you have Pinterest, you can search resistance band workouts and there are a ton on there as well. I like using both the handles…
  • I have to agree with massage therapy. It seemed no matter how much I stretched my back and shoulders would always be tight. My massage therapist would always tell me how tight my shoulders were whenever I’d see her. Swedish massage is very relaxing. Hopefully you can get someone with a heavy hand to really work out the…
  • Jump rope hiit, Pilates and kettlebells. I used to love to row and bought a cheap rowing machine that died on me after a few months. I wish I could row without spending a fortune on a rowing machine or going to the gym.
  • I buy all my shoes from Zappos, sneakers included. The brand of sneaker I stick with is New Balance.
  • I’m 49, I’ll be 50 in June. Luckily, I had a hysterectomy 2 years ago so I don’t have to deal with the unpredictable periods anymore but I still have my ovaries. Lawd, the hot flashes. I have central heat/air in my apartment and I also have a fan and space heater in my room. I alternate between the two, when the hot…
  • Jump rope hiit with body weight exercises about 4x a week and a straight jump rope workout about once a week. The workouts can last from 15 to 45 minutes. Pilates 1-2x a week for at least a half hour to an hour. I have this 30 day core challenge on rotation, so I’ll get about a minute of core work done daily. I workout…
  • I don’t do it often, but I’ve taken my jump rope to the pavement. I use a mat and find it doesn’t affect my joints. For indoor jumping, I trip a lot and when I do it’s mostly my big toes that get the brunt of it. Can’t keep a nice pedicure :). So, yes, I use shoes when jumping indoors or out. The leather shoes are better…
  • I didn’t gain or lose. But I exercised yesterday so that probably helped.
  • I haven’t used veryfitpro app in a while, but if I remember correctly if you have an iPhone, you can sync it to the health app and sync MFP to the health app. Then when veryfitpro updates the health app, the health app will update MFP.
  • I second everything KHMcG said. I started jump rope in March at 49 y/o and I love it! Definitely check out Jump Rope Dudes on YouTube. They offer tons of tips to get you started. I use Crossropes. They’re pricey but worth it. I use their app daily. The workouts include straight jumping with 20-30 second rests in between…
  • Orange slices candy call my name. All day every day. I had it bad. CVS has sales on them 3/$4. I would reason, hey, they’re on sale, can’t pass that up :p I’ve started buying the candy in smaller portions and staying away from CVS. For instance, the bag sold at CVS has more servings than the one sold at the grocery. Still…
  • I love it and I feel great afterward. Working out also helps my anxiety. At 49 y/o I think I look pretty good and I want to keep it that way. When I get lazy and not want to exercise, I just think of all the benefits I’ve gained and what I could lose if I don’t exercise and I get right back track. Although, sometimes the…
  • Me too. I lost 60 pounds about 10 years ago. I was down to 137. I wasn’t tracking calories but I was keeping a food log and weighed myself daily. Then I stopped weighing myself and tracking. I figured one “little” cheat day every now and then won’t hurt. Fast forward, 9 years later and I was up 20 pounds. I started…
  • I think I’ve finally found a program that I am most comfortable with that works for me. One thing I did recently was up my calorie intake on MFP. I was only looking to lose about 15 lbs so I started with 1 lb a week loss as a goal. 1200 calories a day actually stressed me out. I only lost 5 lbs this past year of being on…
  • I try to do 20 to 30 minutes of jump rope a day, 2 Pilates sessions a week and 1 full body strength training session a week. I work out longer on the weekends because that is when I schedule 1 Pilates session and the strength training session.
  • Prevention magazine has a good 30 day core challenge. I do this on repeat. https://www.prevention.com/fitness/workouts/g29180866/30-day-ab-challenge/ I want to try the dumbbell pullover but I don’t have dumbbells. I might try them with my kettlebells. Thanks everyone for the great ideas in this thread!
  • I have a love/hate relationship with burpees.
  • I had found a nice mix of at home and gym training before Covid. I’d workout at home during the week and at the gym on the weekends. I’ve worked out at home for 30 years so I have a lot of equipment. I use resistance bands and kettlebells at home, but I use the weight machines at the gym. I do jump rope for cardio at home,…
  • I aim for a minimum of 300 calories, and usually burn about 350-500. On active rest days it could be as low as 180.
  • I drink green tea. It hasn’t helped me lose weight, however, I have slow digestion, and I find that it does help move things along quicker and reduces bloat which makes my stomach look not as poofy. Not flat as a board, but not distended either. I notice when I stop drinking it because I’m back to being poofy with sluggish…
