Have you ever had raspberry preserves on a turkey sandwich with avocado? A local restaurant has that and I really sorta love it!
-
You might not always feel like it, but you seem like an amazing person. You've changed lives!
-
Yeah. I own a restaurant so I kinda have my own as a part of the Coke machine. It breaks the monotony.
-
That's great!

Yes, I definitely believe you can't just wish things into being. Thoughts are only part of the equation. I read an article in Psychology Today years ago that said that "lucky" people might be lucky because they expect to be, and therefore notice opportunities. Again, though, they had to act, their mindset just made them…

Literally everyone, with the exception of my husband, that I socialize with on a daily basis really loves drinking. My employees usually stay after work for a beer or two. No one gives me grief about rarely drinking anymore, because I don't judge them for choosing to drink. When I do decide to drink, I own up to knowing…

I have pretty severe arthritis in my spine and one of my knees. I was in a rehab program that taught me to stop avoiding pain, because I was slowly decreasing my mobility. Accepting the truth of this helped me a lot, and a lot of the pain reduced over time. Yeah, sometimes it hurt when I had to bend to pick up something I…

I've raised 0 children, so thank you for picking up the slack.

Off topic, but Sheltie! Sheltie! Sheltie!!! Also, another Michelle. :)

Unless your name is Methuselah, don't think we can lay this patent at your feet. Like you say, the concept is old, and pretty all your ancient religions have their version. I think sometimes ascribing a name or specific term creates focus and allows people to wrap their minds around it. I'm down to do it, like doing it,…

Thanks, Rori!

People think I'm an extrovert ... nope!

I should add that one of my motivators is not making the mistakes my mother made in her life while still believing she would want me -- as would my grandmother -- to be happy and take advantage of the good in my life.

I think a casual observer would say I could still stand to lose over 100. At this moment I'm more focused on the process than the end result, so not really attaching a clear number. I'm very supportive though. :)

Go get in, and be the voice of wisdom. The buff voice of wisdom!

Just positive thoughts and believing you attract what you focus on and believe in. Dunno, kinda tinkering with it, but not sure how I feel. I mean, generally, that makes sense, but there are elements that might be, well, woo.

This thread is so fast moving, and my head is spinning a little. I'm 51. I own a restaurant. I have dogs and cats. I'm kinda geeky. I like to read and color. I've lost like, 43 lbs, kinda accidentally in trying to improve my mood, but of course I'm rolling with it. :) Anyone here doing anything with Law of Attraction?
-
Yup. Your results will eventually do the speaking. You owe this guy nothing, and don't need this approval.

If you think your clothes are fitting better, I would recommend finding your tightest non-stretchy clothes, or ones that don't even quite fit, and try them on once a week. Don't assume yet you're not making progress.

Yes! So much of this, including coloring. Especially getting out in nature. Although, the place where I live is a frozen tundra more months than not. LOL!

Okay, I'm going to vaguely mention products in the course of this response. I am not trying to sell these products to you. I just literally cannot tell this story without mentioning them. I relate to your story enough that I can neither not respond nor can I leave out a part of my own recovery. Ugh, please no one report me…

How about if I forgive you? :) You deserve love. You deserve to love yourself. And with love comes forgiveness. Your only "sin" is not loving yourself. The choices you regret are a reflection of your anger toward yourself, and feeds your self-loathing. The anger and the dislike have to go. Pretend you didn't write this…

Yeah, give me a baked potato doused in butter any day over any cookie.

Salsa, even as salad dressing. Of course, MFP has to bust my chops about sodium. Like, it's lots of veggies, give me a break. Also, hot sauce.

Cutting out soda is huge!

Hi, I'm in the right demo. Happy to have friends and accountability buddies!

I like to color, which I know is not the most active hobby, but... Coloring calms me and engages me so that food is not particularly on my mind. I wear a Fitbit, and so when it tells me I haven't gotten my 250 steps for the hour in. I either pace around my house for a while, or grab a leash and take a dog around the block.…

If you're like me, you have a voice in your head that can be quieted for a time, but uses any opening to pipe up again. The voice wants you to know you won't succeed, and uses any "failure" as evidence of this. I'm still figuring this out, but what works for me is to stop beating myself up by quickly labeling any choice…

I'm 51. When my grandmother was my age, younger, she decided she was too old for so many things. She didn't take risks without a huge push. Eventually she reached an age and a level of health where she really couldn't do the things she claimed she couldn't, only there was an an intervening 40ish years in between the two…
