I weigh myself once a week. I’ve noticed that I seem to ‘get stuck’ at a weight for a couple of weeks fluctuating between 1 lb up and down then then have a couple of weeks where it’s a consistent down for a couple of weeks. My chart sort of resembles a staircase.

Great post! And look at all of your accomplishments. It’s a good reminder to celebrate the wins and reflect on both the journey and the future direction.

I'm sorry, what the *kitten* is "diet face"? Sounds like another invented thing for people to be insecure about so that other people can sell them stuff to make them feel better about themselves. Or rationalize not losing weight.

Screw that... god invented facelifts and wrinkle treatment for a reason. I’d rather have a good body and all the benefits from exercise and weight loss. For all those in your 40’s, you are going to wrinkle anyway. So the real question should be...do you want to be heavier and wrinkled in 10 years time, or fit and wrinkled.…

This summer I was loving all the sparkling water flavors with my gin instead of tonic. Hard to find them in bars and restaurants though, so if I’m out I’ll switch out the tonic with plain club soda with cucumber or lime. Now that it’s turned cooler I’m a single malt gal. I don’t find fitting those calories in very hard. My…

Eating a Big Mac a day gives you plenty of room for higher nutrition foods. Is it the greatest thing to eat daily probably not...but It’s not the worst. Damn now I want a Big Mac. I’m not sure I even like them, it’s been probably 20 years since I had one. I think I need to get out of this thread since I managed to have…

Oh dear...there are times I would walk on hot coals to get to a bag of plain ruffle potato chips. I think it’s the salt. Other times they are noise sitting on my my kitchen counter and doesn’t even rate acknowledgement. Luckily I did learn early on to pour in a small bowl as that usually is enough satisfaction. Rarely do I…

Hah...I found this out the hard way. I started with a calorie goal of 1240, one day I went in to remind myself what my loss rate goal was so I went through the guided setup and my new calorie goal was 1210 calories at the end (presumably because I lost some weight). I was so bummed...I wanted those 30 calories back!

Haven’t posted in this thread yet...but fit the criteria 44 working on getting active and some better overall health. The weight loss is secondary to that primary goal but have been working that with more emphasis the last month and a half. Anyway...I bought a c2 rower last September...it sat in a box for 2 months then in…

I kind of like it, even if I don’t necessarily believe it. In 5 weeks I won’t remember what number it gave me so I can’t really say I take much stock in it. But as others have said it’s a little reminder of where I want to go and that I’m on the right track to get there. The nag msg if I have a bad eating day and go under…

Here’s my experience FWIW, I’ve only had one “have you lost weight “ in the wild. I’m down about 20 known lbs (I didn’t weigh myself until about 6 months into exercising regularly). I have had people comment after I’ve said something about taking up rowing. It’s usually something like “I noticed a change, you look good” So…

I just hated how everybody and their brother started doing BL challenges IRL. A. It was just annoying to witness B. It set up unrealistic expectations and then disappointment in the normal people who participated C. It encouraged really bad ideas. Fad diets, under eating, unsustainable conditions, etc. My husband’s fire…

My biggest small thing was eliminating the nonsense calories. Those stupid things add up fast! Example, I do stop for an egg sandwich most work mornings (it’s easy and fits in may cal count) I used to get an OJ, but realized I was getting it and drinking it out habit. One day I got an apple juice and realized it was just…

I’m guessing there was a lot of work behind those pics. That’s not a little thing at all!

What are your facilities going to be like? Are you camping, RV, staying in hotels? A couple of years ago we bought a car fridge (look for one with a compressor unlike the car plug in cooler). This was a game changer for us in our food options. We typically bring deli ham and cheese and make sliders along the way, for…

It’s hard. I travel for work so it’s not unheard of to eat out for every meal. Generally speaking I try to find an equivalent meal in the database and then choose the highest calorie one to log. I figure if I’m going to estimate it’s better to overestimate the calories than to underestimate them. I also don’t usually eat…

I’ve developed a tea habit in the evening. For me it’s part of the winding down process that helps signal that bedtime is coming, and it’s something that I can keep up when I’m traveling for work. Something very satisfying about the ritual of sitting down with a hot beverage and a tv show or a book. I’ve never been an…

Thank you! This is genius. I just got back from a work trip, and while I’m pretty good at managing my calories at home, this trip was a challenge for me to figure out how to anticipate my calories and meals. I was just saying, that it was an interesting experiment since this was my first time tracking while on a work trip.…

Great results everyone. Mine aren’t super dramatic but I’ll share them. 5’4” Started at 181 Current 161 I’ve only been using MFP for about a month, was 165 when I started tracking. My exercise is rowing every day (started in November 2018) that I’m not traveling...20 min/day during the week with longer rows on the…

Love it!

Right there with you...mid 40’s losing weight and crepey neck. I’m hoping it will lesson with some time.

The other thing you can do is to plan more exercise on Saturday and/or Sunday to ‘bank’ some calories. This usually covers my Sunday brunches that I both eat and drink. I typically earn 200ish calories/day during the week from exercise which brings my goal to around 1400. On The weekends I have more time to exercise so my…

Some days I notice things others I don’t. I think I noticed my face slimming first, probably at around 5lbs. Then nothing for awhile, then I noticed clothes fitting a bit better, but still no dramatic changes. Now I’m down 20lbs, (5’4” 181 to start) and still don’t think I look like I’ve had significant loss but just…

Work travel is how I ended up here :s No advice but lots of commiseration.

If this helps at all I’ll share my experience. I started exercising regularly about 9 months ago. Lost 15 pounds. I started tracking calories in MFP a month ago have lost 5 pounds. I just checked my carb history...it’s all over the place for the last 30 days. I still lost 5 lbs in a month while not paying attention in the…

I started using MFP a month ago. Since then I’ve had great days (almost spot on my goal), ok days (+/- 200-300), and horrible days (+/- 1000). Even with the fluctuations I’ve lost about 5 pounds. My August calorie average is within 100 calories of goal. One bad day is not going to ruin anything and putting so much pressure…

I’m an all or nothing kind of gal, so for me it’s 7 days a week. (Excluding my travel weeks for work) But(!) I row for an average of 15-20 minutes per day. So it’s not an hour + long super intense workout. I mostly row for 20-25 min, and designate the 15 min days as “days off”. Weekends I aim for longer rows and ad have…

I’ll tell you in a couple of weeks. This vacation will be somewhat stationary...total 4 days in the car and 6 days on a boat. Not a ton of opportunity for exercise. There will be some, daily walks (wow..I sound like a doggy), short bouts of strength training (pulling rope to lift heavy sail and small boats), and Did I…

I can add to this one...(new poster). I started rowing indoors this past Nov...so about 9 months now. I remember posting in my log that there is dangerous ground between novelty and habit. Realistically it took about 3 months of daily rowing before I wasn’t thinking about it. There were many days where the “I don’t wanna”s…
