Motivation is always needed here. Each week is either gain 1/2 a lb or lost. How to shed 2 lbs in a week would be great. But how?

Good afternoon. Not sure how this all works. I started MFP a month ago and have enjoyed the app. I need to drop 40-50 lbs. I'm over 50 and it just seems difficult to drop the weight. Any good helpful tips?
