I am glad you were able to resolve this with a change of diet. I get frustrated with my mom because her doctor is her medical god and whatever medicines he say take she takes them faithfully as opposed to trying a more holistic way first. She has rheumatoid arthritis and she takes 8 pills in one day per week.

Always shorts and a tank or T. Even in the dead of winter -20 degrees. I feel too vulnerable sleeping naked. I tried.

I lift weights and I go by how I look and not the number on the scale. I might check it once a month maybe.

Proper form is everything. Hips, glutes and thighs are what you should be using.

You can eat carbs, sugar, starchy foods or all foods for that matter but eat at a calorie deficit. I dont like to eat too much of those kinds of foods (sugar, carbs bread etc..) because it burns too fast and I am hungry shortly after. I think free weights are harder because you have to focus on balance and good form. Whereas the machine ergonomically forces you to have good form. But you can increase the weights on the machine to make it harder and still have a good squat workout.

I do DLs in the Power rack as well. There isn't a lot of space on the floors but we have a lot of Power Racks. Besides it's easier to put the barbells on the lower racks to load up as opposed to loading it on the floor. My laziness LOL

I went on an 11 day trip in August. I did not log anything. But we did a ton of walking. I ended maintaining my weight. I ate and drank what i wanted. It was Italy and I wanted to enjoy everything Italy had to offer.

You can do all kinds of leg machines that work just as well for the quads, hamstrings and inner/outer thighs. If you enjoy doing DL and Squats do them if you feel it's not causing you pain. I wouldnt let the doctor scare me of what could happen in the future if u keep doing them.

I have my ONE favorite treadmill out of all the empty treadmills around. If someone is on the treadmill next to my favorite I am working out next to them. They either deal with it or move. Cuz I am not moving!!! LOL!

@eugeniaramage Diabetes is nothing to play around with. I really hope you listen to your doctor and not your logic and reasoning. My Dad had to have all his teeth removed because diabetes rotted them all. He now has to wear dentures.
