  • All of you burpee enthusiasts are super inspiring, but my knee is not cooperating and I think burpees and I must part ways now. @SammyDee2015 I hope you are feeling better now!

  • Good question, not sure how to measure that but they have never given me problems. In general, I am not very flexible though, so my range of motion can be limited.
  • Well, I am getting twinges in my knee again and was only able to do 5 very slow and very sad modified burpees. But I did get in a treadmill and plank workout, so today wasn’t a total wash.

  • Managed to do about 3 mins of modified burpees (roughly 20 of them) before getting ready for bed. I think I will shift to a strength workout that has burpees in it tomorrow. 3 mins and 17 calories burned isn’t a very motivating result for all the huffing and puffing I was doing.

  • @SammyDee2015 Thanks for your words. I was feeling really good about my efforts so far...until I realized that I forgot to do today’s burpees and planks. Doh! I need to set a reminder on my phone.
  • Yesterday, got distracted by a bit of family drama and forgot to do anything. But tried to get back with it today with 20 modified. I am thinking I may never get beyond modified burpees. I prioritize cardio on the treadmill and stationary bike, so by the time I get around to the burpees, I have to take it easy on my knees.…

  • @SammyDee2015 So great to see you keeping this challenge going for the new year. I’m going to try and stick with it after dropping during the holidays. Jan 3 - 20 modified burpees (low impact due to some knee pain)
  • Jan 02 - 5x30s straight arm plank Jan 03 - 5x30s straight arm plank Total: 5/60 mins
  • I am going to give this a try. I do them off and on but hopefully this will keep me more consistent.
  • @SammyDee2015 I’m sure you’ll start them again when you need to. I tried to do some yesterday but my husband came home with groceries about 5 minutes in. After helping him bring them in, I just couldn’t find the momentum to keep going. We can be in-awesome together. Do 2 in-awesome make an awesome?
  • I know the feeling. I’ve been a bit fatigued and sore from some other stuff and have dropped back to my sad beginner burpees. Trying to work my way back up again. Dec 13: none Dec 14: none Dec 15: 10 barely burpees Dec 16: 14 barely burpees
  • So on Tuesday I tried to do half burpees quickly, my form was all over the place and I kind of put too much impact on my knees. I took Wednesday to recover a bit and went back to my slower modified beginner burpees again today. Dec 10: 25 half burpees Dec 11: Rest day Dec 12: 25 modified burpees
  • Do you do the 30 non-stop? I still take a few deep breaths in between every burpee so I don’t get winded. I do separate cardio workouts, so I figure doing the burpees slow should still be okay just for the strength training aspect?
  • Dec 7: 20 modified burpees Dec 8: 20 modified burpees Dec 9: 20 modified burpees On Saturday, I started trying to jump my legs in and out of the plank. Jumping them in was easier than out for some reason. Not sure if I just wasn't getting my balance right or I was psyching myself out. Some are still a bit wobbly but I…
  • That’s so awesome! I bet she had perfect form too😀.
  • Still in it. Trying to be mindful of form and add another 5 next week. Maybe work on jumping out my legs as well. Dec 1: 5 modified burpees Dec 2: 15 modified burpees Dec 3: 15 modified burpees Dec 4: 20 modified burpees Dec 5: 20 modified burpees Dec 6: 20 modified burpees
  • I’ll add you @SammyDee2015 . I have been focusing on weight loss with a treadmill but I’ve hit that plateau. I’ve been trying to add on bodyweight exercises and apparently burpees hit every part. Just wish they were a bit more beginner friendly.
  • Of course you can! I’m also new to MFP. I just joined last month to track calories (was using a different app before) and stumbled across these different challenge threads. So far, I’ve found them great to stay motivated and they offer a lot of encouragement.
  • @SammyDee2015 sorry to hear that your back is hurting but thank you for sticking around. I’m still in although I do feel it in my arms and chest. I’ve found that I need to do these separately from any other workouts. Just leaving an hour or two gap to rest helps me keep better form and add in another set. I did start to…
  • Thank you for the encouragement!
  • I have to work on upper body strength. I can’t really pop my legs back yet, so I am starting off just stepping each foot back for now. My pushup is also still pretty pathetic. Dec 1: 5 modified burpees Dec 2: 15 modified burpees
  • I’m in. I did my very first set of burpees a few days ago. It was only 10 burpees total, but I thought I was going to die by the 3rd one. It also took me a fair amount of time (I had to do the super modified beginner version with lots of rest in between). I am hoping that I can gradually work up to 20-25 by the end of the…
