I agree. I’ve only been eating low carb for less than 2 weeks and I’m around 40 mpw not 60-70 mpw. Plus I’m still averaging 50-100g a day, but 20-30% of total calories so still getting in a decent amount.

I am grateful for it though because this means for the rest of my life I can be active and eat well. I probably wouldn’t have discovered running or ever dreamed of running a marathon if I hadn’t of had these issues throughout my life. I just wish I would’ve ran track in high school and discovered it much sooner.

Before I created this thread I did not realize the issue I’ve had with food all my life. Kind of sad I’ve just now realized I have a problem. It’s been going since I was 13 years old when I realized I was heavy compared to my classmates and I actually had to see a therapist (forced to) because I wouldn’t eat more than…

This is my double today. Just showing you can eat a low carb diet and still run....albeit a little slower than usual

Nice little fartlek on 1

I didn’t run very long today only 30 minutes in zone 2 and my warm up and cool down in zone 1. I’m curious what my fartlek in zone 4 will be like tomorrow m.

Being on a low carbohydrate diet as a recreational runner hasn’t been that bad actually. Sure I feel a little sluggish and I can tell when my aerobic system’s fat burning ability kicks in after about 5 minutes warming up (it’s a strange feeling) but I feel really clear headed on runs...it feels good. I just do not…

Nothing like fat burning aerobic runs on a low carb diet

Thank you all for the response and advice!!!! I appreciate this community.

I think I have experienced what is known as body recomp since then in a bad way. Looking back I was eating a low amount of calories (2,000 a day) so my carbs were very low. Once I added carbs back into my diet I bounced up to 155. I’m at 150 (148 fasted after a run) now. I was 137 pounds fasted at the time. Then again I…

That was back during the summer. Add 8 pounds. I’ll post a recent one tomorrow after my run.

I used the in-body machine at a local cross fit place. I know it isn’t as accurate as a DEXA.

These were my 142 days...I’ll have to get a more recent. I’m around 150 now. Excuse the serious face I know I liked dorky I had just got for a run before that photo

I will later on today. I’ll get someone to take a photo of me.

Did you severely cut your calories to drop weight like I did? I think that’s the cause.

Sgt1372 I’m going to get my body fat tested again. I got it tested in July and it was 10.6% BF at 142.6 pounds. I’m curious where it’s at now

I agree. I’ve gotten over my pity party and I’ve realized if my physique is why I run then I shouldn’t run at all. I’m learning to fall in love with the sport again for why I started running in the first place. It makes me feel good, it makes me happy, and I actually enjoy it. It’s my therapy and I’ve forgotten that.

I think when I started distance running I had a wrong idea of what a distance runners body looked like. You’re right mamapegs. I just need to focus on improving my race times and try to eat for my health and not really worry about my body as I’m at a healthy weight already anyway. I think my pre running days of being obese…

You make a good point. I’m an amateur distance runner (5k 19:38, mile 5:30, half marathon 1:31.08, marathon 4:10 (hit the wall at mile 18 running at 3:30 pace) so I burn around 100 miles or more per mile. My Vo2 max is 62 ml/kg and I’m 23 so that is considered excellent for my age. But I just get annoyed because my body…

Anyway, I probably need to give some background. I think this all started when I lost 60 pounds within a 2 month time span a couple years age (I weighed 220 pounds) by cutting my intake down to 1,200 cal a day. Ever since then I think the constant going in and out of being in a deficit can just completely destroyed my body…

And I can run a 5:30 mile (not the best I know but I didn’t run track in high school and started from nothing so it’s good for me, yet some dude that eats junk food and lifts everyday is shredded but can’t run a sub 25 minute 5k. It’s demotivating.

It’s just frustrating since I’m at a normal weight and I burn 500 plus calories per day, yet I look like I do not train at all and just look slender.
-
I’ll try to lift on days I have lower mileage. Today just called for 35 minutes in zone 2 so I did a mini back and bicep workout afterwards since my muscles can not handle a lot of sets yet.

I’ll keep you guys updated on the next 4 weeks. I’ve heard people have success with IF and a low carbohydrate/high protein diet. Apparently the science is behind on IF as I’ve seen it make me look more defined without changing my caloric intake. I lifted 3 times this week so considering it’s my first week back into it…
