Latest news: It's my second week on Tirzepatide. I need some help getting back to proper portion sizes. I gained a little less than 40 pounds from my lowest weight but don't want to go beyond that. So far it's working fantastically and I love not having much of an appetite. It lets me think about other things.

  • Happy Halloween everyone! Here's what I've experienced so far on tirzepatide, I'm still on the starting dose: Good sustained weight loss (so far 2-3 pounds a week) Reduced sugar cravings, and I when I do eat sugar it's not quite as good Increased preference for whole grains and protein Improved sense of smell for whatever…
  • I just now read it and it's good to know. I don't think any of my black utensils were made with recycled materials, usually if they are the fact is trumpeted to the heavens and made into a big selling point. In regards to what I'd use for nonstick pans, I'd use plastic utensils of another color, wood, or silicone. There…
  • I'm glad you are healed! Good luck in continuing to meet your organization and strength goals. :) Scars may look unsightly but they are an important reminder - not of the trauma we went through but the fact that we are still here, we survived. At least, that's how I see it. Be well!
  • I have good results if I stretch very thoroughly before bed, and I'll also often have a small (1 ounce or less) piece of cheese. I do use melatonin at times but always 1 mg or less and at least a half hour before bed. If I do more than that I get sleepy before it's time. Journaling can be nice if racing thoughts are the…
  • Hi there! I'm in a similar situation as I lost too much muscle mass due to being too sedentary while losing weight. A good place to start if you are not active is simple walking. You might want to add in some body weight exercises as well to start up. Wall push ups or counter push ups if you can't handle regular ones,…
  • I don't think it's cheating. I lost over 100 pounds the standard way and so I know it can be done. I regained a little less than 40 of that over a few years and when I tried to use my same strategies again it just seemed a lot harder. It's like something in my brain didn't want to deal with the extreme restriction that it…
  • I hear you! I'd actually pay for premium if it got me the blogs and news feed back. This site is about half as usuful to me as it used to be. Thanks for being here and I appreciate your kind thoughts!
  • Thoughts on my current experience on Tirzepatide (generic Mounjaro): I've just closed out my first week on it. I'm starting to get a little hungry today but not bad, nothing like the hunger I usually feel. I'm using this as a tool to help me re-learn what my actual portion sizes should be, which is working out well because…
  • Twenty pounds is fantastic! Also I love your strategies. I've done many of the same things and it really does help. I also appreciate the fact that you're not doing any specific "diet" but are still seeing success. That's especially great because it'll be easier to maintain once you've reached goal. Sounds like you are…
  • Thank you - that's sweet! Yeah, MFP deleted ALL the blogs so this thread is about all that's left. I think I managed to save all the content but there's nowhere here to post it! Unless I set up a "blog thread?" That might be an idea. I have a blog site over on Wordpress but I don't want to ask people to go to outside links.
  • Bit of an update - because of pharmacy issues my next dose will be a couple days late. However, since the half life of Tirzepatide is 5 days according to the manufacturer, I'll still have some medication in my system even if it's late. Strategies: I may bump up my calories a little to help with satiety during that last day…
  • Thanks walkintofit! Exactly. I figure I make roughly half the money back in buying less food, and ultimately it'll be a huge savings in health expenses. I'll come back to this thread more often now because it really does help me stay focused and motivated.
  • Despite the lack of blogs and a newsfeed, I am in need of MFPs tracking tools again so I'm back. My new starting weight is 185 so I gained some weight back, but I'm very glad I never got back up to 245 like I was a few years ago. I had a ton of distractions and work stress and pretty much everyone knows how it goes. I…
  • It depends a lot on circumstance. I have a friend who is of the opposite sex but there's no sexual tension between us. Also, and this is the most important thing I think, I don't confide in him rather than confiding with my spouse. We're work friends with common interest. He's also married and I sometimes check in and ask…
  • First, check that you are moving as much as usual and not eating more than usual. Little things can add up. Then, talk to the doc who prescribed your Wegovy, they may need to increase your dose a bit. As I understand it this is pretty common after using the medication for several months. Also with normal weight loss,…
  • Without knowing the details, my guess is nobody got near the fifteen pounds, and might have also lost weight simply because their bodies weren't quite used to the new diet. Some people have so much of a surplus that if they are heavy enough, just going down to 2500 cals or so might let them lose weight at first! Now I want…

  • My thoughts are to set your goal to lose 1 pound a week and use that for your calories, then if more is added from exercise eat back half of that. I say half because fitness trackers are excellent at over estimating your calorie burn, it's almost always too high an estimate, no matter how fancy your fitness tracker.…
  • One thing that's helpful to know is intermittent fasting takes a lot of different forms. A similar concept is Time Restricted Eating. There are many ways to go about it depending on your needs. Some people like to take one or two days where they eat nothing every week, and some might limit calories to 500 or so. Others…
  • Sounds frustrating! Also check your sleep (are you getting enough quality rest?), hydration, stress levels, and also how much do you really enjoy jogging? If you love it, great. If you secretly hate it but think you have to do it, maybe look around for other things to do to stay fit that are more fun. Or bring music, or…
  • I know a guy who has been on here 13 years straight, fought and beat cancer, became a runner and more - he has an incredible record, over the four thousand mark for sure. Huge inspiration. Sadly he has left with the recent changes to MFP.
  • I'll bet you can find some good friends - I've found MFP is a wonderful and supportive community. Can we find out what you need help/support with? It's better to have friends on the journey.
  • @betty and all, It's good to finally be able to find more information about what will/won't be possible after this downgrade. When a big change like this is made, it's important that communication be clear between the support team and the user base and I've been sadly disappointed by the way this was handled. I still miss…
  • What about this "Activity Feed" that has an announcement over in the news section? I'm wondering if it'll serve the same purpose as the News Feed? If it's a case of needing to replace the feature with something else because the newsfeed is notoriously unstable, I'd understand - provided I could use something else for the…
  • I've had excellent luck buying smaller, yet still very beautiful, dishes from Japan. As long as you stay away from the ramen bowls, you can find some very reasonably sized dishes that suit very well. I also have some small Chinese dishes I use for everything from dips to single servings of nuts.
  • Great progress! I'll bet you are feeling a lot better.
  • I love that perspective and those priorities. :-) My own spouse has trouble letting go - we both came from histories of poverty and deprivation so I get it. But she's also pretty great!
  • Right now the cards have a good purpose if they give him happy memories - at least they can be neatly boxed and put away. Good thing he's not collecting motorcycles or something! I can't imagine having enough cards saved that I'd need even one box, that's amazing.
  • I've encountered that too! The really sad thing is, many times recycled electronics will go overseas where the metal is extracted by.... burning off all the plastic so the gold and such can be reclaimed. I really wish someone would find (and use) a better way than that.
