  • I've encountered that too! The really sad thing is, many times recycled electronics will go overseas where the metal is extracted by.... burning off all the plastic so the gold and such can be reclaimed. I really wish someone would find (and use) a better way than that.
  • Oh I completely hear that! Sometimes items just need to be gone. I figured I'd put that suggestion out there in case anyone hadn't thought of it, or was trying to declutter things that are a pain in the butt to get rid of but still have use.
  • [quote="StayFITTer; We don’t have recycling in my city and it broke my heart that I declutterred a lot of glass jars I WAS going to repurpose and reuse. My future self was going to do some cool amazing things but I couldn’t continue to let her rob my current self the joy of freeing up drawer space for my husband, so I can…
  • Yeah, that would turn me off too - yet another reason why I don't see a point to pay under the service. Have you checked in the settings menu under subscription settings? I would guess that's where it should be, but with the state of poorly designed apps these days, it's probably not.
  • One guy on my feed has 4565 days. He's a legend. :)
  • [quote="springlering62: I’m going through a period where I can’t button a lot of my pants, yet my trainer constantly asks if I’ve lost more weight. It feels like my thighs and butt are thinner, and my ribs have come in to “ normal” person status instead of splayed out, and it’s all conspiring to push everything between…
  • I have success in time restricted eating when I use it as a tool to control calories and enhance fullness, by contracting my meals and avoiding evening snacking. It doesn't matter what I eat if my calories are within limits, though I do have more success when I make protein a priority as that helps hunger. Moderate fat,…
  • Well now I know why a post from 2013 came back :) It's an important topic. Bkachm, it seems that so many people are afraid of making personal comments that many may never say a thing even when they notice huge changes. I've seen some people on these very forums who really dislike getting any comments while others thrive on…
  • Fantastic! That new active lifestyle will go a long way towards preventing regain of fat tissue and I think it's great you're gaining muscle. Congratulations!
  • [quote="AnnPT77; Personally, if I were feeling cold more frequently as a thin person than when overweight, I'd be considering a conservative reverse diet - no guarantees, though. There's at least a chance that it's not all just about fat as insulation. [/quote] Absolutely. I am a lot colder now that I have less insulation,…
  • Hey all - one last message here. Sorry for quitting the challenge. I was kind of hoping that front-loading positivity and support would help me do better emotionally through the holidays but it hasn't, things are even harder than usual. I'm not giving up my quest for health, but my goals aren't really matching the MFP…
  • Dianedoessmiles1 shark? Not sure what you are referring to there. :-) One of the hardest things I had to learn was what a realistic loss is - so I don't get bent out of shape unless I stall for several weeks in a row.
  • @Dianedoessmiles1 Thanks for that! I thought at first "what does she mean congrats? I gained since the beginning of this challenge!" And then reconsidered and thought "well I still haven't gained back even quite a quarter of what I lost, so that's not so bad." In researching this mental fatigue I've been experiencing I ran…
  • Morning all! Sunny here, as usual, though we had a couple days of rain. My garden likes that better than the chlorinated city water so I'm happy when it happens. Feeling better today. So far my exercise has gone pretty well. I already had some weights so I reconfigured those and made more room in my office to use them.…
  • @Dianedoessmiles1, I got a bad taste in my mouth from the Planet Fitness I saw in my area with their mockery of weight lifters, so I'm really glad you are having a GOOD experience instead. I was with Vasa for a while and enjoyed it when I could get to their location but then Covid hit and I was at home. I'm still at home,…
  • Tabatha_Cain 800 cals? Wow. That's pretty amazing - and pretty hard to stay under. Sounds like your body is really efficient at staying alive? My basal metabolic rate is probably around 1200-1300, I think it may actually be a bit lower than all the calculators give me. Of course, it's easy to underestimate calories…
  • sgod50 - thanks for the suggestions! At this point if I had to join a gym I wouldn't ever want to go there often enough to make a difference. Today I cleaned up my office some and loaded up my EZ-bar and dumbbells so got a pretty decent upper body workout, so there's that. Since I noticed that I want to exercise more when…
  • Hey all - I'm still around. Things have not been going well. Part of it is, I need to keep up my calorie deficit, but this time of year is rough. Even though I don't go to parties etc, there are always things tempting me. Also being small with a light frame I need to stay under 1500 calories or so to lose ANYTHING and it's…
  • If it helps anyone, I regretted a couple of Halloween indulgences! After eating real food most of the time it takes a pretty special dessert for me to actually think it's worth it. Many of the others overpower me with sweetness and no actual flavor. So that might help you when you are deciding if it's really worth it or…
  • Fantastic! That's really, really wonderful. Since high glucose makes it so hard to fight off infections because it basically feeds the bacteria, you will probably be feeling a lot better as you keep this under control.
  • I generally do better with staying the course around this time too. Working from home has reduced the temptation but not entirely of course. In the office, the holidays were just like "Next Stop, Treatsville, population Everybody." Trying to lose a little around this time generally has the effect of keeping me maintained -…
  • Congratulations :) That's a fantastic thing to celebrate.
  • I have seen a lot of discussion on this thread about how losing weight can cause a desire to declutter. Maybe this has been brought up before but it occurred to me that losing weight is like physical decluttering, and also as we start seeing success with improving our health perhaps we realize that we are not powerless. We…
  • Nope, not even close for me either. I purposely set my calorie goals to sedentary and then under-report the exercise I do, then usually don't even have all of my calorie allowance (I pay attention to protein goals, get veggies, don't go under 1200, etc) and the estimate is still way off. I've begun to think that as little…
  • This is such a good discussion. I like the theme that you can heal from body dysmorphia, since that message isn't always sent. For a long time I thought that once you have it, you just have it, that there's nothing to be done. I'm very happy to have been wrong! I don't really like how my body looks, though I like it a lot…
  • Fantastic progress all right! Even when things slow down (as they will after the first few weeks) you'll continue to notice changes. You'll continue feeling more energetic. You'll see changes in the mirror. You'll move more easily. Your resting heart rate will go down. I noticed all those things when I was near the start…
  • Just a quick note - thanks for the YouTube exercise suggestions! I suppose I could actually watch an exercise video, LOL.
  • @Tabatha_Cain], I wish you the best on your own results. Cysts can be such a pain - literally! It's pretty wonderful how surgery continues to advance, becoming less and less invasive. I'm glad you also have a good care team to figure out what is wrong and get you help. (I truly value that as I've spend long, long spans of…
  • @Dianedoessmiles1, yeah, I watch a YouTube video that I enjoy when I am using the mini stepper. It helps a lot. Boredom is probably my biggest enemy when it comes to exercise. I know, the advice is to always do something you enjoy, but when it comes to things I can do in my house with my existing equipment there is only so…
  • I found more stuff to declutter! Extra kitchen tools that came in a set and I never use, or were replaced by something better. Old art supplies that are perfectly good but again were replaced by something better. Old clothes that are too big. Some of them are even still usable! A few racks/shelves that no longer have a…
