  • The first step is the hardest, and that is deciding to do something about it! You can do this!!!! Starting slow on exercise is wise, you don’t want to hurt yourself by doing too much too fast. Walking is an underrated exercise, it increases your heart rate and is gentle on your joints and can yield great results. As with…
  • It depends on a lot of factors, your age, skin elasticity, rate of weight loss (slower is better) and genetics. Other than trying not to lose weight too fast and staying hydrated there isn’t much you can do. I carry my weight in my belly and after 2 csections I have pretty hefty skin apron I’m dying to have removed.

  • Hi! My youngest is 9 months. I had Gestational diabetes so didn’t gain weight during my pregnancy and three weeks after delivery I weighed 20 pounds less than I did when I conceived. BUT... I gained 20 pounds in the months following, and I’m trying to get it back off and then some. I’ve also had 2 c-sections and my abs are…

  • If you do 20k every day I would pick active/highly active but DO NOT record walking as exercise, only record weightlifting or an exercise class. Or, you can do sedentary but then log your walks as exercise (this is what I do in case I’m not as active on any given day). You have the option of eating back your exercise…
  • I’m 5’3 and 182 and 39 years old, so very similar stats minus the medication. I wear an Apple Watch (Series 3) and I just got back from a 3.1 mile walk pushing a stroller with a 30 pound toddler and I burned an estimated 350 calories. The only time I’ve burned 1,000 calories in a day is when I got 20,000 steps (4 mile walk…
  • You can lose weight eating 100% “junk” as long as you are in a calorie deficit, but due to the high calorie count of those foods you won’t be satisfied for long. Any gain on the scales right now will be water weight as long as you aren’t eating over your maintenance calories.
  • My absolute minimum is 6k steps and that is a rest day. I try to hit 10k a day. I walk outside and try to do 3-4 miles a day. I have my calorie goal set to lose 1 pound a week but I’ve been averaging a bit over 2 pounds a week and the extra is my walking (I don’t normally eat back my exercise calories). Walking is a great…

  • My weight has been up and down (mostly up) my whole adult life. The lowest I’ve been since high school was 170 and the highest (non pregnancy) was 209. A switch flipped at the end of May for me. I’m 39 years old, didn’t know what I weighed because I was scared to look, I have 2 young kids and I felt like crap and hated the…
  • I don’t outright forbid myself to eat certain foods, that is a sure way for that item to become a huge craving. I eat what I want in moderation. For me falling off the wagon would be days/weeks of just not caring by Eating way to much, moving way too little and making overall bad choices. Every now and then I will treat…
  • How much weight do you want/need to lose? 1200 calories seems low for a 1 lb/week weight loss goal. I would definitely bump up your calories to maintenance for a few weeks. Still measure and portion your food and track it diligently, but don’t eat back your exercise calories and that will create your deficit for weight…
  • I’ve always heard (and agree with) the phrase “You can’t out exercise a bad diet.” It is possible to lose weight with diet only, I’ve done it. It is healthier to do it with a sensible exercise plan as it does burn more calories, helps build muscles (which burns more calories), and improves cardiovascular health, blood…
  • I would slow down your weekly goal to 1 pound a week and then be more deliberate with getting out and walking. I started at 196 at 5 ft 3 and I’ve lost 11.5 pounds in 5 weeks doing nothing but walking and counting calories with my goal set to lose 2 pound a week. With your history I absolutely think “slow and steady” is…
  • Hi! I have PCOS and I swear I gain weight by looking at food. Granted I eat crap but I’m trying to do better.
