Correct.

Hmm. Maybe my issue is with people calling what it will take to achieve that goal "unreasonable" or "too much" too quick, not the goal itself.

From my Twitter feed...just gonna leave this here.

I've competed and been single digit many times and for months at a time. Year round sustainability was never part of the discussion though, but if it was, you'd be partially right. It's not enjoyable for many but I personally know a lot of guys that stay shredded and enjoy it.

Yes, but the majority of things fitness related are possible through sheer effort, not ability. Of course things like becoming an IFBB pro or USAPL athlete or CrossFit Games contender introduce genetics and ability but thats not what I'm talking about. I feel that as a society, we are drifting further away from a lean…

Maybe try farmers walks?
-
Save some $ and get these at your local grocery store in the snack aisle instead.
-
Honestly, I see a positive difference. Your hip to waist ratio looks to have increased to me. But 20 days isn't a long enough period to see massive differences, stay the course!
-
Yeah, I understand that farmer walks won't necessarily add #'s to your deadlift, but they WILL help you hold onto it if that's your issue.
-
Oh, 100%. I'm not saying don't tell the truth, I just feel if the truth is as likely to discourage as to inform, it may be wise to hold back. If someone had triple digits to lose, I'd focus on helping them make small, manageable changes and have them enjoy being headed in a positive direction rather than say "nice, but you…

I did after being called out on it. Copied and pasted my earlier reply to this below. He wasnt asking advice, he was asking for friends and I'm not trying to add a bunch of friend connections. My approach to giving advice is kind of jaded. I'm super passionate about helping people and have spent many hours both online and…

The truth can be, and often is, discouraging.

I guess I dont see warning someone of how much work is required to do something as helpful, so I view it as negative. Which obviously varies person to person. If someone told me it would take me over 10 years to accomplish my goal, that probably would've been so daunting I wouldn't have tried. My approach is to get them to…

You're burning more calories than you eat and need to eat more. Also, weighing is more accurate than measuring.
-
I disagree. Farmers carry's are BOTH a good standalone exercise AND very often recommended to help with grip. Yes, the best way to improve a lift is to train the lift itself, but the specificity lies in the issue at hand, which is grip strength and I stand by the farmers carry as a great way to train grip.…

Got it...I misunderstood.

My approach to giving advice is kind of jaded. I'm super passionate about helping people and have spent many hours both online and in person giving advice to only have it ignored (maybe bc I've never charged for it). Once, a lady I'd seen in the gym a lot but never spoken to interrupted me mid deadlift session and asked…

Maybe I should've said "unlikely" rather than "unrealistic".
-
That was somewhat a hypothetical question. And I agree about the encouragement on threads. What is "unrealistic" is sorta subjective and individual.
-
Fair enough! I posted this because I wanted to see other's perspectives. It just seemed at first people weren't understanding my point. Maybe chalk it up to my cognition.
-
My approach is to have a window of bf% that I want to stay within while improving my overall physique through cut/bulk cycles. For me it was about 12-18%. I would cut, slowly with a small deficit as to maintain muscle, down to an "eyeball" 12%, then creep up into a surplus while lifting heavy until I got to about 18%, then…

Hmm, makes sense. As in, the tipping point is her "choice" or lack thereof. I get it.

Well said and I think this is probably what I meant. I've never been a female so I really can't comment but I do know that extreme (as in, to the point it seems at their own expense) submissiveness is something some thrive on. Edit: Not trying to be divisive and I'm in over my head! Was simply observing we're all unique as…
-
So question...what percentage of the remaining 70% on any given thread do you feel unnecessarily indicate something is unrealistic? That's the group I'm taking issue with, not the ones giving good advice or helping form realistic expectations of work or time required.
-
I feel to tell someone unless they're a genetic rarity, herculean effort awaits is painting an unnecessarily gloomy picture. I never said it was communicated that the goal was impossible, it (in my opinion) was implied it's unrealistic. Of course I don't expect my perspective to be unanimous.
-
I dunno, I'm clearly not in a position to speak for women but I think that mindset still exists where the person actually enjoys filling that role.
-
That dynamic works in a lot of relationships. Just because it doesn't work for you doesn't mean it's simply outdated and obsolete. Edit: I'm not saying you're inferring that, just observing.

Yum (even with raisens) Peanut butter on a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich.
-
There's a comment indicating it's reliant on rare genetics (which I disagree with) which insinuates it's out of his control. Yes, genetics will affect your structure, how much muscle you'll put on and so on, but I believe most genetic limitations can be overcome with regards to getting lean. Anecdotal, but I personally…

Another lie I hate is that some supplement you can buy was the key to them looking like that. Exactly, and if you only set a goal of getting off the ground, you'll probably keep putting it off until tomorrow.
