  • I have reached the end of YouTube and web walking on treadmill. Lol. The issue is my mind knows 1 hour is 1 hour. It’s a long time much less 2 hours.
  • Because of life events, I don’t believe in eating at maintenance. There is always an occasion around the coroner. So might as well bank calories daily and look at the weight/body fat gain loss at a weekly monthly or quarterly basis. Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away. Save 100-150 per day and you can enjoy thanksgiving. Day…
  • Based on your calculation. I would burn 210 calories for 10000 steps or 5 miles. Burning a hair more per hour than my hourly tdee. Quite depressing. 😩 Reasons like this I feel like it’s easier to not eat than exercise. 1 hour walking burns less than eating a banana.
  • My take on this and I know it will be an unpopular one is, there isn't much flexibility with your diet choices until you get above a certain amount of calories. For example, for 2000 calorie diet, if you are trying to follow a "healthy" diet of say 2 portion of fruits a day. A banana and apple will easily run you from…
  • I also walk on an incline on treadmill. But really have no idea what setting it at the setting of 6 or 15 does to the calorie burn. One of the many reasons I now prefer to ride my bike on a trainer is because of the much more accurate calorie burn calculated by watt. Unfortunately, biking has their own set of downsides…
  • Walking out side for me has health hazard since where I live, there are no side walks and cars and scooters zoom by. Air quality and weather is also a factor. So I prefer to walk on treadmill. But my biggest complaint about walking is the calorie count. I really have no idea how many calories i'm burning. Too many…
  • My motivation for eating chicken, broccoli and rice is becuase i'm just that lazy. I'm not trying to lose weight or get fit for a role, but I do want to eat healthy. Ideally, I want to spend as little amount of time in the kitchen as possible. So I am in search for the easist meal to prep/cook with the least amount of…
  • How many calories do you think your burning in the gym in 3-4 hours and how many calories do you think you burn outside of the gym typically? For your gym session, I would asume it's more than 100 more calories you are eating. Getting on an exercise bike for 15 minutes pedling at 130W would burn more than 100 calories.
  • I had similar thing happen. Except it happened when I was only 41. I was jogging for an hour on a treadmill every other day. But shortly after turning 41, knee pain started and could no longer run. Resting didn’t help. So I had to give up running. Now I think besides the possibility of knee pain if I try to run, I also…
  • If you believe what this article says... then your friend is gaining fat if he eats more than his body needs, since it only takes 4 hours for that to happen from the time he swallows the food. https://www.theartofdoingstuff.com/calorie-to-fat-timeline/ However if he is a calorie deficit the other 6 days to where the…
  • Wow.. I don't drink nearly that much and I am already going to the bathroom every 2 hours. Even though I don't drink anything after 6 PM. I am still waking up in the night multiple times to go, which unfortunately is very disruptive to my sleep. I can't image how much worse it would be for me if I drank as much as you.
  • I saw a youtube video where it said setting very small mini goals will help you achieve your bigger long term goals. For example, for exercise, set a mini goal to do just say 2 minute of cardio every day, instead of setting a goal of 30 minutes of cardio every day. The idea is, most of the time, getting started is the…
  • So not many people follow the 8 cups of water a day. More intuitive fluid drinking and how often you are going to determine if you need more fluids. People mentioned tea, but nobody many people mentioned sodas. Is soda or carbonated drinks not as popular with fitness community?
  • You went from eating 12500 calories to 14000 calories. Maybe try going back to your old routine and eating 12500 calories or do more cardio if you are eating more and have more energy. To offset that extra 1500 calories you are eating every week could translate to several more hours on a treadmill depending on pace and…
  • I think not having weight goals for short term, but diet and exercise routine goals will be more beneficial for people starting out. This will prevent you from getting frustrated after the weight stalls after the first few weeks. It's good you know what your long term goal is and you didn't set a time limit. Since you…
  • As many people have said, weight loss is not linear. This new regime of eating healthy and moving more should be a lifetime change. So whether you hit your target weight in 2 month or 2 years, you will get there as long as you stick to it. Just make sure your goals are realistic and the effort you put in aligns with your…
  • If the op said I would like to eat a piece of 140 calorie cake at the end of this week. So I plan to bank 20 calories a day. What would you say. I would say. Don’t worry about it and just keep doing your thing because that 140 is so small it’s not worth trying to figure out where you need to try to figure out how to bank…
  • @annpt77 If a person weighs 100 lbs has exactly 20% body fat at and is in a 500 calorie deficit per day, what would you expect the most accurate body fat scale to say what their body percentage is each day they are in 500 calorie deficit? By the 7th day after they burned off 500, they should weigh 99 lbs and body fat of…
  • Then how do you pick and choose which day is a reliable. Again, over say 2 month , I can make a drastic difference I believe that day 1 is some what accurate. And the end of 2 month is somewhat accurate cause I can see and feel the difference. So if you go from 20 to 15%. None of the 60 days in between that is showing a…
  • I weigh my self daily. My take on how often you should weigh your self is what you plan on doing with the data. If you plan on making adjustments daily, then you need daily data points. If you see what the scale says and just say "meh, just fluctuation", then no real point in weighing daily if you are sticking to your diet.
  • I agree it may not be accurate number. But it’s a consistent inaccuracy. At 20%. I can’t see abs. At 15% I can. Maybe if I used dexa, it would say I was really 19% to 14%. Point being as it was dropping week over week. Abs showed more and more. So it wasn’t just making up small number drops day over day just to keep me…
  • I use a fitbit Aria scale and I can actually see my body fat change daily. For some reason, you have to use the android app version to see it down to the 100th decimal place. When I am putting my self in a larger calorie deficit over 2 week. I can see a steady drop of .05-.1% day over day. At the end of 2 weeks, it is a…
  • I'm not saying you shouldn't bank calories. I personally believe you should always try to eat in a small calorie deficit even in maintenance because life happens and there is always a special event around the corner. I am saying when you get down to that small of an amount, you shouldn't stress too much over it. If a…
  • Yes you can bank but I think 200 is not really enough to consider banking for a later date and here is why. People tend to under estimate calories, even if you think you are giving yourself a buffer. Labels are not always accurate. 0 calorie food or spices are not really 0 calories. 200 a week is 2800 calories every 2…
  • I’m having similar experience this week too. Except mine is with body fat. I had a cheat day Sunday where I ate anything I wanted from lunch to dinner. My body fat went down and hasn’t rebounded yet. Still keep thinking it will show up “tomorrow”. Body does weird things.
  • Assuming you were doing your share of cardio, you can also consider cutting back on that first and keeping food the same. I'm not saying stop doing cardio completely, but if you were doing 1 hour, maybe you can scale it back to 45 minutes. You may find that your not as hungry and really don't need to adjust your food.
  • I have always been confused about this, maybe you can clarify it for me. If someone who is out of shape walk 1 hour on treadmill at a set speed and incline then this same person becomes more fit, but doesn't lose any weight. Does this person burn more or less calories if he was walking the same amount time at the same…
  • I think everyone tracks. It's just whether it is actually recorded in an app or in their mind. How much time and effort it takes depends on your eating habits. For example, if you eat the same thing every day, then you don't really need to track once you figure out how many calories that 1 day is. You can choose to add it…
  • My treadmill is very generic and doesn't have weight input. I do however walk on an incline so trying to figure out what effect that has on calorie burn since it is suppose to be more. I am wondering if just doing calculation based off heart beat would be accurate. Assuming the heart beat monitor is accurate, I read that…
